Hey everyone. My 2yo kitty has been diagnosed with FIC. At least, the vet has ruled out other causes, and believes it must be FIC.
I'm taking several different approaches to help prevent another episode... especially upping the amount of moisture she gets in her diet, and reducing stress...
My cat has to take both a liquid medicine and a pill, every 12 hours. The pill is gigantic, so I have to either cut it up into chunks or crush it up. Both the liquid and pill are apparently absolutely disgusting, and she can smell them from several feet away.
Here's what I've tried:
For the...
Any tips on choosing heated blankets that are safe for pets? Is there a particular one you'd recommend?
This is my (and the cats') first "real" winter, with snow and possibly subzero temperatures. I try to keep our apartment warm, but it gets very drafty, especially at night. Even with layers...
Hi all,
I'm moving! The trip will be about 12 hours total (split into two days of driving). A friend of mine uses this on car trips and likes it:
I went ahead and bought one. I'm planning on putting both of my cats in it, because they get along well. My older cat is very anxious, and having...
Tonight when I got home, I went to start a load of laundry. As I was pouring the laundry detergent (regular Tide liquid detergent), some spilled out and my cat happened to be standing right underneath. It wasn't very much - maybe a couple drops.
I chased her down right away, but she did manage...
Hiya everyone,
I have a few questions for anyone who has experience with freeze-dried raw food:
What brands do you like? (Or perhaps, which ones do your cats like? ;) )
How does the cost compare to canned food, or to commercial frozen raw food?
If you feed freeze-dried food, is that all you...
I rent an apartment and every window has horizontal mini-blinds. This week, my 8mo kitten has decided to try to climb up them/tear them down in an effort to get outside. I guess her thought process is that once those are out of the way, she'll find a way to escape. (She goes walking on a leash...
I've always used Tidy Cats, because it's cheap and it clumps and I haven't had any issues with it. But I'm thinking of switching to something that's more environmentally friendly, and that won't cause my kitties any issues if they accidentally ingest it. (Not that I've had any issues with them...
Hi everyone,
I was searching for cat pictures on Google in general, and lo and behold, a picture of my cats from this site came up. :p That got me wondering about something. I know this is a public forum, but is there any way that users can protect themselves if they realize that something they...
In the last couple of weeks, Iris has vomited up foam three mornings. It's always within a couple hours before breakfast, usually right before. I'm assuming the foam is because there's nothing in her stomach to vomit up. But is there a reason why she might be doing this? She is eating, playing...
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd post here, just for fun. I don't know much about cat coat colors, so I wanted to see what y'all think....
This is my torbie (tortoiseshell/tabby), Daisy.
How would you describe her coloring? Dilute? Blue? Lilac? Is the orange more of a cream or a caramel? Does...
So a couple months ago, I put up a bunch of netting around my balcony to cat-proof it. I ziptied it to the railing. It looks great, and it's sturdy. But now my apartment complex is going to be painting the building, so I'll have to take it all back down again.
I don't think it's worth putting...
Not sure if this is the best place to post.
My apartment complex just hired a company to treat my roof. I'm not sure what chemicals they used, but the notice that they posted on my door yesterday says that the chemicals will kill plants and damage clothing, and based on the strong smell, I'm...
I feel like if I haven't already crossed into crazy cat lady territory, this post will bring me across the threshold.
This year, my family members are all celebrating the Christmas holidays with their other side of their families. So I am free to make my own holiday plans. I was...
I have a picky 5-month-old who has rejected almost all the wet food I've offered her. (She prefers dry, but I'm trying to wean her off of that.) A couple weeks ago, I picked up some Soulistic chicken in gravy at Petco. She LOVES it. She'll eat almost all of it in one sitting.
But upon checking...
My kitten, Iris, has had a squint since yesterday. It's just in her left eye, not both eyes. There is some clear discharge, too. She doesn't squint all day, but frequent enough that I'm a little concerned. She seems to be squinting more often today. Her nose was also a little runny yesterday...
I'm looking to spruce up my apartment with some plants. Partly because I've been worried about indoor air quality. (I live in the middle of a big city.) Plus, plants just make spaces look cozier.
Does anyone have any ideas for pet-safe plants? Are there any plants that you've been particularly...
My kitten, Iris, is about 5 months old and she loves cat grass. I know It's normal for them to vomit the grass back up sometimes, but is it normal for it to come out with stool?? I woke up this morning to find a stool on the carpet, with about 3 inches of grass attached to it. At first I thought...
My kitten tries to run out the door every time someone comes in. She loves to explore and sees it as the perfect opportunity. I'm not sure what to do to keep her from doing it. I'm scared something will happen to her or she'll get lost. I live in a big city. She's microchipped and I'm planning...
Earlier, I took a pot off the stove for a second and turned away. Before I could stop her, Iris leapt up onto the hot burner. :eek2::eek3::doh::bawling::bawling::bawling:
She seems okay for the most part. She's been licking one of her front paws. I looked at it and it doesn't look like the skin...
