    Hi everyone,

I thought I'd post here, just for fun. I don't know much about cat coat colors, so I wanted to see what y'all think....

This is my torbie (tortoiseshell/tabby), Daisy.

How would you describe her coloring? Dilute? Blue? Lilac? Is the orange more of a cream or a caramel? Does the shade matter as much as coat color websites would lead you to believe? ;)

I’d call her a dilute, her orange patches are more of a cream I think, caramel (which it would be for the double dilute tortie) would be even lighter.

Your other cat is a beauthie she too. Well worth a her/ his story to be told widely..

Torbies are often difficult to analyse. So is yours... the coloring quite "funny"

It's really hard to tell from the pictures, but I do see some E. Mau characteristics in your other cat.

@1CatOverTheLine has told me the same. :D I rescued her off the street, so I don't know anything about her history. She does have spots, but as she gets older I've noticed they're starting to look more like the broken-stripe sort of spots seen in tabbies. (She's about 6 months now.)

But she's definitely got some other similar traits.

    More pics of her attached.

I wasn't looking at the spots. I was noticing the ears, nose (jaw line) and legs.
    What color are the eyes?

She looks like a true spotted pattern to me, and a lot like an Egyptian Mau; but Kashmir64 knows more about EMaus than I do. @kashmir64, can you tell if there’s a scarab marking on her forehead?

There's only one picture that could show it, and it's really hard to tell from that pose. But if the cat is only part E. Mau, then he wouldn't necessarily have a perfect scarab.

It also doesn't have the primordial pouch, but mine didn't develop one until he was 3.

I can tell you that the marking is not the tabby 'M'. It could be a scarab, I just can't tell from the picture.

Her eyes are yellow with a green (or greenish blue?) ring around the pupil. I noticed it when she was around 4-5 months old and thought it might indicate Mau heritage. But I've seen other cats with green rings, so I haven't wanted to get my hopes up, haha.

She is quite unique among all the cats that I've had. Extremely intelligent. She knows how to open the door, but thankfully can't. She loves to climb (and will lay across my shoulders while I'm cooking). Learned to walk on a leash without any effort. She forms bonds with people when they give her toys, and she cherishes the toys as if they are her pets. When she wants to play, she'll either bring one to me, or she'll carry her stuffed tiger around the apartment and wrestle with it.

The eyes are not Mau. Neither is that a scarab. However, like I said, she could be part Mau with the other part having the dominant eyes.
