All Thing Books And Reading Thread 2020

What are you guys reading?

Pride and Prejudice our May book of the month.

I'm almost a third done with Pride and Prejudice.

You might be a bit further along than me, as I just finished chapter 19.

STILL reading "The Cat Who" series, I'm up to #18, "The Cat Who Said Cheese." You know, I really like this series, and Ko Ko and Yum Yum are adorable, but Qwill is a bit...well. He has had, up until Polly, a thing for women far to young for him, and Polly is unendingly jealous of anyone younger and/or slimmer than she. However, neither is enough to destroy my enjoyment of the books!

I had a bit of luck yesterday. A neighbour left two bags of books outside my door and there's at least a dozen I will read and enjoy. Now I'm spoilt for choice.

Ya'll should read Rosemary Pilcher's "Winter Solstice" it was wonderful. Really uplifting. I was sorry when it ended. It's not new, copyright is around year 2000, I got it in a bag of books my friend's mom was done with.

I ended up reading 5 chapters of P&P last night. It's really getting good now. I'll post more about it in the May 2020 book of the month club thread. It's not too late to join us, btw.

I'm now halfway reading Going Home by Harriet Evans.

My dearest Mother would recite a poem many a day. There is one in particular she learned at age 99 years young. She would mostly do it while we were walking together. I cannot share it in its entirety because it is about 5 pages long. She was and still is amazing although I lost her recently. So in homage to her I would like to share it today. It is actually a Love poem.

And to get things back on track... I finished this book a little while ago.. (the reason I have the photo is because of one of those facebook 'post a favourite book' things).
It's The Missing of Clairdelune by Christelle Dabos, translated from the French and also recommended by Sundar, who is also a Francophile who loves a bit of fantasy. It is very appropriate for our time; a story of a literally fractured world full of illusions. It's the second book in The Mirror Visitor Quartet. It's quirky and I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the third book.

ON to #19, "The Cat Who Tailed a Thief." By the time I finish up this series, I'll have the rest of the "Miss Fortune" series here!

Apart from a few very forgettable cozy mysteries, I've finished The Lost Kings: Lancaster, York, Tudor by Amy Licence. Overall I enjoyed it, as I do most books about that period, but some parts about funeral arrangements were a bit tedious.

Next up will probably be some true crime: Gone at Midnight: The Mysterious Death of Elisa Lam by Jake Anderson, which has gotten very mixed reviews.
