The new vet is quite nice and reasonable as well. They are doing blood work. The weight loss is a big concern. She did give him a shot of Covenia and said the abcess seems to be healing fine. Hopefully the blood work comes back showing something treatable or the diagnosis is cancer. Hope not.
Thanks to both of you for the replies. I have managed to get an appointment with a well respected vet in my area. Durham NC. Hopefully she will give him a shot of Covenia for whatever infection might still exist. Although I know it is difficult to tell whether a cat is in pain or not he seems to...
Casey has had more than his share of health problems one requiring ear surgery over the years. The last few years he has had problems with the appearance of bags of pus which have fortunately broken by themselves before they did any lasting damage. One appeared this past Wednesday. Now he is...
He came from a home where other cats were friendly. Not sounding good for the little one. I wonder if this kitten might not be better off somewhere else if you can't put the time in.
You should consider yourself lucky. I read a lot of threads on this site people complaining their new kitten hides and is aloof. You'll get your wish the kitten will become a cat and need to spend less time with you. I happen to think it's kinda cute actually.
Sounds normal for his age. I have cats who could care less it you picked them up and I have a few that won't tolerate it at all. Nothing to worry about. He's a beautiful cat BTW.
We have a now 2 1/2 year old little girl who never liked being held but will come when called. She doesn't mind being petted but don't try to pick her up. Most of my other ones don't mind it at all.
I have 2 fifteen year old boys. We moved to a new state and our new vet updated all of their shots. For their age they are pretty healthy they eat and drink and still go up and down the stairs with no problems. they interact well with our younger group of young cats and in general other than a...
She looks a lot like one of my girls. Some cats just don't like to be touched or picked up too much. She might get a little more affectionate as she grows up maybe not. Give her a bit more time.
Naps are normal. I have a girl about 1 1/2 yo now who is very affectionate but hates being picked up.They're all different. I know it is not an option for everyone but I always made sure i had at least 2 cats near the same age for friendship as they get older.
I would take him to a vet to see if he was injured or infected while outside since he is acting like this. My 16 yo boy got knocked off the deck by his brother when he was 2 and was gone over 2 months. We found him on the other side of our impossibly large apartment complex. He was hiding in one...
My experience has been my males have always been more affectionate than the females especially as they got a bit older. It seems the boys always stayed babies.
