Mine did this especially around 6-8months when they were playing constantly....he would end up panting. I was a bit freaked out b/c I'd read this is a sign of distress but researching further it seems normal for young cats after a heavy play session. He learned his limits and it rarely happens...
We give our cats friskies pate. It is not the cheapest but definitely seems lower tier. We decided to heed the advice of feeding them almost exclusively wet food and this makes it feasible. We were buying specialty food when they were younger and it was 4x the price....just not sustainable...

She is pointed, she was mostly white as a kitten and the splotches on her body are lighter than those on her face / legs / tail.

We had to keep ours in the bathroom at night for a few months...now they are about a year old and one of them can spend the nught without waking us but the ither gets up to play before dawn so we usually put them in a separate room. They complained at first but got used to it.
