We had been napping a bit during the rain. Kitties surrounding me. Ferals love to sleep when it’s raining. They always find some spot that is nice and dry to snuggle up. But where is Whistle?
Oh. Lol High and dry?

Are you okay up there Whistle?

You’re not as big as some of the kitties that get up there. Do you need help getting down?

Uhhh. It is a long way down.

Heh. I started my post earlier and got interrupted so then missed responding to some. Let’s try that again! Lolol

N NY cat man I have found rockets on my roof! Not good. I have some hearing loss in one ear so I try to sleep on my other side but it usually isn’t enough. When things hit the roof, cats scatter and I am usually their launching pad!😲 Wake up time! Sometimes I am the landing pad too. Unh! Lol Poor kitties. Maybe I should be wearing Teflon? Lol

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I used to call too. The officers told me they are understaffed and under paid so can only take much action unless someone is injured. Sad. As the innocent one you should be protected and the offenders should be held accountable. It’s just not right. More recently there has been a little more activity on the part of officers. I think they got so many calls on that one location that it was draining resources and became more efficient to crack down there so don’t despair. It’s so hard to endure but sooner or later, other neighbors will be offended somehow.

Furballsmom Furballsmom You are not hijacking! Lol Everyone here is part of this thread and all out there are welcome here. We all care about rescued cats whether it be from outside or a shelter or any other source. A cat loved is a cat rescued. Also, we are supporting the cat lovers that support us. It is all connected in my eyes. There is strength in numbers. What would any one of us do without all the others who are part of TCS? Besides, I can’t always be here and knowing that others carry on gives me great relief. You and all others have my gratitude.
Fans and white noise might help Elvis. I finally found a fan that sends vibrations through the floor. It is not on a tall stand but sits close to the floor. Some of my best sleep came by laying next to that and right on the floor! I guess it was a bit like purring? It helped. The cats liked it too. It doesn’t do much on the slab part of the floor but on the wood floor in the cat room it works well. My back wasn’t so happy but the rest of me was!
Thank you for asking. The weather here has been rough. Strong storms alternating with extreme heat. I try to fit outside chores in between downpours. I am doing a lot late at night when it’s cooler. Quieter too. I hope things are okay there! I have been watching the weather and wondering if others are okay.

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose You are always thoughtful of others. Headphones and ear buds might work for some. Honestly I can’t imagine trying to sleep with something on my head other than a cat! If only Elvis would sleep and purr on her head, it might help? Sounds odd but BJ did that for me. I miss my head cat. Lady does it sometimes but most of the cats want to be by my side or on my stomach.
I’m glad you enjoyed the Bonjour pictures. Did you see the picture Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 posted? Oh my! I fell over laughing. Not a dust bunny. A dust kitty! That was hilarious. It looked like Hek went around collecting it and having fun doing it! I think I saw a cat smile under there. Maybe a laughing cat?

strider rose strider rose Yep. Every day IS Caturday. Did Whistle get down safely? Well…. He is a super cat so, yes! It probably helped that he had his flying cape. Of course that is usually invisible on cats but they all have one.

Thanking all for their concern. I own my home. It belonged to my family. I will never move. The neighbor next door owns that house. They leased or rented it to others for a few years, and they left, so now the owners are back. They have a lot more money than I do, and a don't-give-a-^&*) attitude. They clearly care nothing about their neighbors. None of this will change. So we're at a stalemate. They won't sell the house because property values here are sky-high and if they don't live in it, they can rent or lease it.
Yeah, I could feel the bass through my bed when I was watching TV. I'm sick as a result of the noise, but living normally, because I have no choice. Work won't get done by anyone else. Noise always affects my health, but no one except me cares.
The neighbors before these were far, far worse: vandals, the woman was a drug dealer, and there was a worse crime committed. They terrorized my family for years. The story is that the woman was either sleeping with, or very good buddies with, someone(s) in law enforcement, so they turned a blind eye to all of the family's crimes. Thanks god they finally moved out!!! They were, and I'm sure ARE, VERY bad people. This is life in the real world. These people don't just exist in films and in "bad neighborhoods" -- they can be in some of the "best" neighborhoods, where they have carte blanche. America, after all, loves its criminals. These don't seem to be criminal, just inconsiderate and self-absorbed. That's the culture here. Think the Kashtrashians. That's how these are.
I think, Jcatbird Jcatbird , that Whistle is a Birdologist, reading up on the subject of interest. ;)
Another day, another week. We keep on!

hope things are okay there!
My partner has pretty much come to the conclusion that downtown Denver needs to go, (we are located mostly due east of downtown). Time after time we watch the storm/rain clouds begin to move east off the Rockies, and then split and go either north or south. He's convinced the heat from all the buildings, pavement and suchnot is causing an atmospheric disturbance, and we end up dry here. However, the flip side is we're so far, knock on wood, missing out on hail 👍

Jcatbird Jcatbird I try to be considerate of others as much as possible. I do a night feeding around 9pm every night because I know if I don't some of the cats get testy and start fighting with other cats. I try to keep them happy. I use to get up 4am in the morning years ago before the kitties were all TNRed and spend the course of well over an hour feeding all the cats that came to me (at different times). I had a bunch of angry male cats ready to kill each other and had to diffuse that ticking time bomb situation before the whole neighborhood were woken up. I used to joke I should have a Cat Caretaker resume and put expert at Conflict Management- I stopped 5 angry male cats from killing each other and waking up the neighborhood. You must have an outstanding resume-loads of experience!!! Anyway the point i wanted to make is why are the people like you and me that go out of the way to keep the peace and then there are people who don't even try? I am so glad I got out of that neighborhood years ago, it was time. I really felt I needed to leave.

You know with the negative effects of the remenents of fireworks you think more people would be talking about this. I have seen plenty of news about nanoplastics and how they can cause problems in your lungs and inflammation throughout your body, but nothing regarding the fireworks--that is a darn shame. It appears that we as a society are our own worse enemy creating pollution and other problems for our enviroment. We need to be more in tune with nature and more committed to doing the right thing. I admire Native Americans and their respect for Mother Earth. They lived in harmony with the land. Our society could learn from that.

Thanks for the pics of Super Whistle defender of all of mankind. You are so lucky you have a super hero kitty.

N NY cat man That is definitely a best seller! Wow. Look at the ruffled edges! That’s a keeper.
I meant to respond the other day about the age a feral is “alleged” to be beyond socializing. Some would say a couple of months but we all know that is not true! I see this published by groups that should know better but I think it is about putting resources into younger cats that are more easily adopted out. It is an antiquated myth that is still handed out some places. No! Bj, Thrasher, Goldie and Jazzy are cats I saw for years before I could even get close. Jazzy may have been the oldest and we think she was at least ten years old. Bj may not have been quite that old but I know I spotted him in 2016 and he was already grown and had battle marks. Beauty, Blue and Uncle Mitty were probably a year old when I first saw them but it took time to get them. By the time I got Blue he was at least two and probably older. So, Old or young, ferals can be socialized. All of the ones mentioned above were either adopted as social cats or remain here as social cats. All allow petting with Blue and Goldie being the only two who get nervous around strangers. Once they know you won’t harm them, they want attention. If Thrasher can love humans after many, many traumas and be a lap cat, the myth is totally false so we know that it is false. It may be quicker to socialize a kitten but sometimes it is just as quick with an adult or old kitty!

tabbytom tabbytom I am still loling over the dust buster image! That was just soooo cute. Thank you Hek and hooman!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Okay, confess, you planted that dust bunny so that Hek would not be able to see you coming with her meds! Very wise oh cat guardian!:worship: We learn much from your stealthy ways. Cat runs under bed and then returns to faithful guardian to be released from dust monster. Cat is released only as meds are placed behind ear! It takes a great guardian to think of ways to medicate a wary cat! Lol Teach us more! You totally put your heart and soul into that one.

rubysmama rubysmama Aww! Great message. That kitty is queen for a day? Monday Queen? Mondays cat is fair of face! Soooo, will Tuesdays cat be full of grace?;) I wonder who that could be?!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I have a distaste for music that makes my house tremble. We cannot in good faith wish ill on others so what I like to do is wish for something that will please them enough to take them elsewhere and keep them occupied so they do not disturb others! Lol Also that a good thing will be done with their property. Like, IDK, a cat haven? Donated for a meditation garden? Perhaps preserved for a rare plant in the grass?
Whistle must have been studying about birds in the library. That’s why he flew off?!

Furballsmom Furballsmom I always try to see the flip side. Perhaps the silver lining to those clouds? I do know that cities can funnel weather. Maybe nature will handle what needs to be handled?

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose It is the age old story of good VS. evil? We may not always feel like it but in the end I completely believe that good wins out. We may not see it but if we aren’t the good ones, who will be?! I think we don’t do good for rewards but for the sake of just doing good. It is what we are all supposed to be doing. If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. For the world to be a great one, some of us must take the hard road to get things going in the right direction so maybe you are a trail blazer in order for others to find their way. An opening for light to shine through. Put this on your resume. Beacon and keeper of the lighthouse. Security fur guard and resolution specialist. Spirit lifter? Lol I love the super hero cat list! Lololololol

Cats full of grace? Lol

For everyone here, I would ask for good wishes, hope, love / prayers for a member, family and special kitty who could be a twin to Banjo! Catlover99! Catlover99! Thank goodness there is finally a diagnosis that can be treated!

I knew BJ was older, but didn't realize so many others were older too.
Definitely proof that age doesn't totally make a difference when it comes to socializing feral cats. :petcat:

LOL at all the "full of grace" Chez Catbird residents. :lovecat:

Beautiful. I love the day lilies with the frilly edges. I have some too, but my day lily garden doesn't get a lot of sun, so it's a couple weeks (or more) behind yours.

But here's a pic of my very first rose of the summer starting to unfurl.
