At first I only knew of Four regular residents and one that had come and gone for years. I thought she belonged somewhere. I didn’t even know about BJ yet. Then I began to make the connections. BJ and Mitsy begat Banjo and Whistle as well as the Cloud babies. Jazzy begat Callie, Kelly, Thrasher, Goldie etc. Goldie and Blue begat Mountain, Kodiak and Black Bears. The family tree is extensive and has a few spots where I do not know the parentage. That wild cat seems to have played a big part in the mystery lineage.
I meant to post this earlier today, but looking at all the pics of the original rescues, I saw so many resemblances to the current clowder. Particularly the ones with the white bibs. And the Banjo-ish ones, and Kodiak like colouring.

It was a true race against time for many reasons but I had to stop the population increases. :stars: I wasn’t even sure if I could but we never know unless we try!
It took your purr-severance, but you did it. :bouquet:
And scary to think about how things would be now, if you hadn't been there for them. :petcat::redheartpump:

Happy endings are her specialty. Although Kodiak is still looking for her own Prince I think she had fun hiding Rubbit. Lol I guess I need to get another toy frog!

I am so glad that you found TCS too! If you enjoy the thread here then that makes us smile! Also grateful that you are helping senior kitties. The thought that seniors do not adjust is not accurate. Old or yoing, it is the individual cat and the human interaction that matter. BJ is a prime example of an old feral socializing purr ectly. I could not have asked for a more loving fellow. Laps rule! I wish more people would follow your lead and consider adopting seniors. :clap2::goldstar:Hearing that people are coming into the shelter for seniors is very encouraging news. Happy Birthday to Ziggy and Gracie!:celebrate: Thanks for volunteering at the shelter!
And I found this site after adopting Waffles and needing information and help! I was just googling around about terrified adult cats and TCS popped up, and after reading just a little I said "this is the place I need to read and be." Thank goodness for this site!!!!
Ziggy and Gracie say "purrrthanks!"

The life of a feral colony is a hard one and without TNVR and help, I have seen what begins to happen. TNVR and/or socializing for adoption is the only answer that helps. Taking one female out of breeding can make a huge difference. The neat thing is that anyone who is willing to help one cat ( or more) can change the lives of innumerable cats. If I can do it, anyone who has the desire can do it too.
Everyone here will support those who try! :grouphug:

I'm so glad you found TCS, so that we were able to offer support as you were out crouching in the swamp trying to convince feral kitties that coming to live with you and the growing clowder would be the best decision they ever made. :petcat:

I'm also glad you found TCS, otherwise none of us would have ever gotten to follow the never ending, loving adventures at Chez Catbird. :catlove:
Not only did Jcatbird Jcatbird found this site where she gets the support but in return she lend her support to all who needed it here in The Catsite :clapcat:

tabbytom tabbytom tabbytom tabbytom Sorry about that! That’s kind of how I felt when I started finding kitties! I would catch a few and then discover more. Momma would turn up with kittens and just when I thought I had an accurate head count, I would discover that one I had though was gone was actually hiding kittens. It's ok if I got confused but the main point is that the kitties are saved! :agree:

Thank you tabbytom tabbytom I hope that the support I got is, in some way, returned. It was invaluable. As all the members and all the cats are too.

The main thing is that the kitties are saved. Good point! :happycat:

Banjo would like to take credit for ordering the shoes but my Dad actually sent them. He knows we like Froggie.
Wow, I'm impressed that your dad would find & send something specific like that!

Jazzy begat Callie, Kelly, Thrasher, Goldie etc. Goldie and Blue begat Mountain,
Ha! That reminds me of that part of the bible where they list who "begat" who.

Happy endings are her specialty.
Tell Banjo that I'm partial to happy endings too. ;)

This is another story of a colony with a human that cares. It shows that one person CAN make a difference. Thank goodness for humans that care!

A STORY I NEED TO SHARE

I may not be on tomorrow night. I have some errands to attend to so if we are not here..... we will return! Please carry on without us and have a great day! Maybe we could convince Hek , January or Ruby to stop in? All kitties and posting members, please come by to give us some updates. :heartshape:

I shall pass this on to Hekitty, immediately. Although she is most fluent in LOLspeak, which is not allowed on the general boards (other than the occasional "teh" or "kitteh" or "srsly"), I can translate for her, as I am fluent in LOLspeak, English, and to a much lesser degree, Catish (good vocabulary, but my accent is horrible!)

Tell Hek , it would be appreciated greatly. We humans do the best we can to interpret cat speak. Of course we can always make it clear that “this is what I think their expressions seem to be saying!” I often attempt translations of face, tail and body language in the hope of sharing what these kitties were willing to teach an old Hooman. Fortunately, this clowder is very patient with me. I have noticed that my accent may be an issue with the cats. Sometimes they act like they don’t understand me at all!

Here kitty kitty!

Thanks everybody for the Bday wishes. ❤

I think a kiss from a Lady might be better.
I haven't kissed a cat since I was a little kid & my grandmother told me I would get ringworm. But for Lady I might make an exception. 😍

Banjo wants to know if you would like a nice game of hide and seek for your birthday?
Thanks Banjo! That post had a lot of fun content, so I know you wrote it. ;)

I have noticed that my accent may be an issue with the cats.
I was shocked that you had such a thick southern drawl on the phone. I wasn't expecting that. 🆒

Well, she did say that she had errands to run, and wouldn't be on yesterday and also, she doesn't normally post until long after my bedtime, so I wouldn't worry too much- unless she isn't on tonight as well, that is.
Oh, thanks so much for posting that. Somehow I missed that post, so of course, me being a worrier, well was worrying. And, yeah, she posts way after my bedtime too.

M maggiedemi You mean Y’allllll have trouble understanding muh searuppy accent? Thick as maple searup? It’s Jus’ win uhm tired. I think your ears just want to hear fast. Funny but I have been told by tourists here that they were hoping to hear a heavy southern accent and then asked,” Do you know anyone from here?”:flail: I had to put on the drawl to entertain them. It was funny to us all. People locally pronounce house as Howse. Mouse is mowse. Each county seems to vary somewhat. I do notice an increase in drawl when I am tired though. Also, I seem to pick up the speech patterns of the people around me.

I think Lady must have helped Banjo with that post. She indicated that she would accept kisses thrown to her but was adamant that she would give you a ring but never ringworm. Bleh!

Banjo did come out from under the sofa. I found my phone cord under there so..... she probably did use my phone. I hope your birthday was a day with the kitties.

Thanks for checking!

rubysmama rubysmama Is that one of those “cat ate my post” things? Too funny. Banjo just got new ideas. Thank you for noticing our absence. Okay on the kitty front but I am sick. Swollen sinuses and I slipped in the rain on the front door mat. Nice!
As N NY cat man noticed, I had an errand to run. It was Just supposed to be picking up medicine but upon returning, I was very gracefully attempting a swan dive as a neighbor watched! I know exactly how the cats feel when they miss a jump! I didn’t fall though. Thankfully. I just slammed my teeth together and twisted everything trying not to fall. Lol My neighbor said it looked like the finale of a tap dance! I am going to be trying to take it easy for a few days. We’ll see if my teeth survived. I was very fortunate that I came home when I did. The rain caused a three car collision just after I turned in my drive. No one hurt but one driver left the scene on foot! :nono: After that, I came in and stayed in! Today my neighbor brought me a rotesserie chicken. Mackie decided he would play a joke on me about then. He ran out as the neighbor came in. I think he just wanted to see a repeat of my rain dance. Luckily I had my trusty fish net by the back door and grabbed it quickly enough to stop the Mackie escape. He immediately turned back and came inside. Maybe he just smelled chicken? Lol The chicken was good. I think!

This is the latest at Chez Catbird! Let’s get some cat thoughts about all this!

We sat around listening to old records as the rain continued. Obviously the cats felt o should stay put. Fumble paws!

I am planning to crawl under the covers with Smokey and just stay there until I am required to move again! Lol Seems like one of “those weeks” at Chez Catbird.
