tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I agree that one food flavor would not be good. Variety is the spice of life! I do have trouble convincing the cats sometimes though. If you ever do try the broths, lock them away from the cats! They’ll do anything to get to those things! There is something interesting in that stuff. ;)
Maybe they put catnip in them.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Banjo and Whistle are just stinking cute! I’m always finding myself saying,” Awwww!”

rubysmama rubysmama Excellent suggestion. I actually have a pair that I bought there that I’ve worn. I’ll pop the lenses out and see if he’ll play with those. I was a little worried he would get a broken piece of lens but he was having so much fun I just supervised until he stopped playing.

@movinintime If you have an interest in the Tom Cat I referred to, his name is BJ.
The posts about him begin outside but his first night in was in post 1106 I think. His progress can be found in stages. You might try these posts. 1184, 1261, 1572, 1680 and they run straight through to current times. If you like I can run a post of the stages of socializing him. Just let me know.

OMC PURRY!!! You gave your mama such a run-around after the bad day she's had...now you owe her a lot of purrs, don't you think?

Ha! I had to come back to show these. This is Purry! It could explain :seesaw:
It’s the Royal Canin bag of treats! He was trying to get my attention by painting a trail to the Royal stash! Okay! I’m going to try and earn some purrs.

BJ learned how to play today!
I didn't know that BJ never played before! Funny that he picked eyeglasses as his first toy. :coolcat:

broths are a favorite with every kitty.
I wish they would add vitamins to those broths/soups so they would be a complete meal instead of a treat. My cats love them too.

than any other place...with one exception, which shall go nameless here.
Does this involve nightgowns again?

His momentum carried him sliding through wet paint and across the room. On his belly!
Oh dear, never a dull moment with your wonderful kitty gang! :eek3::eek3::eek3:

everything within a four foot radius ended up joining us in the bath water. (Canned food, kibbles, the bottle of hand soap and a sponge
Kibble in the bathwater? Purry really outdid himself.

Maybe kibbles are like bath oils to cats! BTW cat Kibbles float for a while! Maybe that’s a bath toy to Purry. He was just afraid of drowning and too busy planting his paws on my shoulders to notice. :climbcat:Next time I’ll give him scuba gear.

He should take swimming lessons from the Bengal boys.

Yes, anyone who believes cats will just eat one type of food day in, day out, and/or that all cats will eat the same thing, are sorely mistaken (and limiting their cats' joy in life! Good gosh, would anyone human want to eat only one thing all the time?)
I can't say for sure if she likes it, but Ruby gets only one (actually two) types of food day in, and day out. She has a very sensitive digestive system, and thankfully is ok eating just her hypoallergenic duck canned food, with a few pieces of gastrointestinal dry food as treats. Even a few kibble pieces of a different food results in, uhm... additional cleanup requirements for her mama, so we're sticking with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I have a concrete floor in the garage that was painted before so.... new paint! It was late when I stopped and when I opened the door, Purry decided to join me.
Oh no. We rarely see/hear about Purry. Guess he wanted to be featured. :catman:

I'm not the member you were referencing, but I think a post of the stages of you socializing BJ would be helpful for future "feral socializing parents". I for sure would bookmark it, and probably post often.

OK...that was just too, too funny!!! I almost embarassed myself by having to change clothes, I laughed so hard!

BTW...concrete floors...they make some really lovely stains for them, and if you want it to be even prettier, after the stain is down, sprinkle corn chips on the floor. The grease and the salt react with the stain to produce remarkably beautiful patterns. I found this out quite by accident, but it works.

Does this involve nightgowns again?
Um...it might...

rubysmama rubysmama I actually have a file on BJ so I can add a bit to it and make a socializing post. Sometimes the visual is easier than giving detailed instructions. I’ll do that. :) I’ll try to work on that tomorrow if possible. I’ve got a possible setback on the sunroom. :dunno: Two steps forward and ten back. The pest control companies all have different opinions. I contacted the Extension agency today. They sent me following a trail of info about different types of termites and will call again tomorrow. I also went to the Agriculture Delartment. I need to know what kind of termite I have in order to determine which pesticide treatment is in order. As much as I hate it, to be safe, I’ll probably be taking the subfloor back up so the ground below it can be treated for any underground nests. Those would be invisible to us if they exist and I don’t care to risk finding them in the floor in a couple of years. It is my personal view that the Ants were keeping them out. While I don’t need the Ants back inside, I do appreciate that they kept the termites at bay and alerted me. Nature is amazing. For those who are anti ant, maybe now there will be a slightly improved feeling about them. Sort of? Lol

Purry usually stays near windows to watch the world. He’s one of those quiet but smart ones. Lol He watches and knows all the secrets. tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 He certainly knows how to get what he wants, even if it takes a little effort on his part. I suppose he is a trail blazer!

Furballsmom Furballsmom Some are willing to show their behinds if they can make it to the rewards!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 As I chased Purry and he kept slipping past me and sliding further through the paint , a phrase from an old song entered my head.
“Slip slidin’ away.
Slip slidin’ away.
The nearer your destination the more you’re slip slidin’’ away!”
It was very much a slap stick moment if anyone had been watching. I reached, grabbed and my hands closed on empty space. Like toothpaste squirting out a tube! A greased pig! Pardon the expression Purry! It could have been worse though. I could have been sent Snipe hunting! Lol

You discovered Fritos add colors to concr? Did Hekitty help? I would like to use stain but I would have to strip the paint off. :thud:Imagine if Purry got into the stain! I could end up with another Calico.

I found one more print today. Lol

Actually, what the Fritos do is repel the color, to some extent, giving a lovely "water rippled" effect. I found this out pre-Hekitty, although I'm certain her spirit, awaiting the right time to come into this world, was present and delighted!

I had another long day. I decided to get some , much needed, playtime. The friend who sent me the light up balloons sent the kitties a new toy. She knows that at Easter my kitties were frightened by a kitty sized stuffed bunny so she sent a tiny white wind up bunny. It hops across the floor. Okay! Here we go. I sat on the floor and was immediately surrounded by the Clowder. Very nice! They love it when we all get on the floor together to play.

Kitties here.

Smokey looks quite protective of that baby bunny :blackcat2::bunnydance::hearthrob::loveeyes:
And yes, even though it may not seem so sometimes, everything does happen for a reason, and better to have to undo some of your hard work now than after it's already all done, yes?:sigh:;)

I’ be been working on a BJ socializing post. Ummmm. It is a lot of photos.:p
I think I either need to shorten it or how many photos can go in a single post? Lol

Very try! Better to undo just the wood that everything. It does us well to take notice of each trouble we are saved from.

I think you've hit on it, Jcatbird Jcatbird -- our scent is on items we wear, so those glasses are a prized possession! Years ago, my beloved angel Simba left some teeth marks in a pair of earrings I was wearing. I still remember exactly when this happened, where we were sitting and that I was on the phone. Every time I look at those earrings, I know she is watching over me, and I am reminded again of our eternal bond.

I can't wait to see the transformation thread! You could break it down into several initial posts, you know. I know that you can put at least 10 photos in a single post. I've done that.

You know, if this whole "glasses for kittehs" thing catches on, we could do a telethon...

Maybe we need a kitty telethon for many reasons.
One of my early rescues seemed to really like looking through a pair of magnifying glasses I had. I think one of my early posts had him helping me to read on the thread. Lol

I wondered if he was visually challenged as a kitten?
