I hope everyone had a peaceful day. I had planned to do a nice Spring time post of kitties snuggling a stuffed bunny toy and flowers from the garden but.....we all know that plans don’t always work out. :doh2: I tried! Here’s what happened.

Banjo and Whistle were the first to approach the rabbit.
EB848103-748B-423F-B84B-F59009E9E345.jpeg

Some approached cautiously! Is that a rabbit?
5DF0E28B-FB46-46CB-879C-D1B20A94A5BB.jpeg

Whistle sniffed.
F4E8A602-F3D8-48BD-8972-CB4F6EBC2944.jpeg

Smokey joined him.

Whistle had to clean the scent off his nose afterwards. Then he and Smokey left.
ED4B959B-CD45-4EF0-A64E-829CBF861A8D.jpeg

Flowers continued the cautious approach from behind the pool. Is this turning into a rabbit hunt?

Thrasher was uninterested. Flowers began to look a little worried.

Another route seemed better.

She approached the rabbit from behind as Mitsy left the possible danger to her.

Thrasher thought the caution was amusing.

Perhaps stalking such a ferocious looking rabbit would be better from above.

It seemed to be a feral rabbit.
06770051-9655-4233-B102-63F54BD696D7.jpeg

Upon closer examination, it appeared frightening.

Maybe getting this close was unwise!

Backing off slowly seemed to be the best thing to do. Especially since almost all the other cats had left.

Maybe the rabbit won’t notice!

Really Flowers?!?!?!?

I can’t believe she’s scared of a stuffed rabbit!

BJ! You better come help. Flowers is leaving!

Okay! I eliminated the threat! Bunny down!

It’s safe. You can come back!

Are you sure you got it BJ?

He got it!

Flowers doesn’t like rabbits. Even after BJ makes them surrender!!

I had to remove the rabbit! Note Dolly on top of the pink blanket. He slept through the entire event.

Next year, I’ll just give them eggs!
860023A4-CFD8-4B3E-9FAD-01413D2E50C4.jpeg

We’d appreciate that Mom! That rabbit thing wasn’t funny!
5F557C13-35EA-4EE4-A721-FBE02E753F91.jpeg

Poor kitties! The worst part is that I had to laugh ( just a little) that Flowers decided to abort the attack of the rabbit! I had no idea that most of the kitties would disapprove of a big toy! They play with stuffed toys all the time. I suppose this one was just a little too much like the real thing. I guess that Flowers must have had a bad encounter with a rabbit before. After all, the rabbits we have outside are very fierce!! Thank goodness BJ came to the rescue! I had to laugh a little bit at that too! He wasn’t fooled by the bunny at all but he enjoyed being the hero! One swipe of his paw and the bunny was subdued! Yay BJ!
Although the bunny wasn’t a big hit with the other kitties, I had to put the bunny in a bag and take it outside before Flowers was happy. She even came and sniffed all over the floor where the bunny had been sitting. I have learned something new about the kitties. No scary bunnies! :bunnydance:
So much for the image I had in mind of kitties curled up with a cute stuffed bunny!! At least I got a couple of pictures of some happy Flowers!

No stuffed bunnies were harmed during this post! ;) The stuffed bunny will be rehomed to a family that will love her!! At least the garden pictures turned out like I imagined. I hope you all enjoy the flowers from Sarah’s Garden.
Have a great night everyone! :heartshape::bunnydance:

BJ gave that bunny a smackdown.
I don't know how my cats would react to large stuffed animals, I don't think we have any. I know they are afraid of babies. When my neighbor's grandson was outside, they ran away from the window in horror.

We just had an encounter with 3 toddlers too. None of the cats liked the small, noisy and hyper things lol. Skye hid under the couch and Benny rocketed away somewhere. With some encouragement by me, Nemo, my chill orange tabby boy allowed a little bit of petting before he went back to our bed. They don’t have to worry though. I’m staunchly childfree!

:flail: Kitties are so smart! They know when someone hasn’t learned to leave their tails alone yet! Luckily kids do learn if their parents teach them proper handling and care of kitties. I tried to teach the stuffed rabbit to make friends but it just sat there. I was rather surprised that any of these kitties were nervous about it. This is a tough group! Live and learn!
M maggiedemi That was funny. BJ did give the bunny A Smack Down! He had to defend his lady loves!:redheartpump:

Awwww, poor rabbit! Such a nice-looking rabbit, too! I hope (s)he finds a nice home and is loved by someone.
For some unknown reason, I did not like plush bears when I was small. People would give me teddy bears and I would throw them and yell, "I don't WANT that bear!" according to my mom. Well, fast forward and my parents had neighbors they befriended. When the neighbors moved, they gave my mom a HUGE plush polar bear. He resides in the guest room and has been a source of softness, warmth and comfort to many a feline furmily member.
Gorgeous flowers! That is the bluest iris I have ever seen. A true, deep ultramarine blue. Gorgeous!

Every morning, retired 72 year-old Stephen Mckears kept finding his tools that he'd left on his workbench the day before, stored back in his toolbox. He put a camera on his workbench overnight.

When we lived in the Mojave, the land was shared with kangaroo rats, "pack" (wood) rats and field mice. The wood rats were very much like this. They also loved to munch on firewalls of vehicles and wiring in the engine compartments. :nono::sigh:

Those eggs remind me of the ones that my uncle would bring home with him. He worked for a railroad, and lived in a largely Polish and Ukrainian neighborhood, and every year, around Easter, he would give my mother another one of their intricately-decorated eggs. They were works of art.

They are so beautiful! I was reading about them online earlier. Their history goes back to pre-christian culture. Very lovely!

She's my spoiled baby. :petcat:

Former feral afraid of a stuffy bunny. Good thing BJ is around to protect all of them. :catlove:

Wow. Love it.
Ruby spoiled. Nah!!! Just very well loved! That’s as it should be.:)

Thank goodness for our hero BJ! It did strike me as a bit funny that a bunny was scary!

Every morning, retired 72 year-old Stephen Mckears kept finding his tools that he'd left on his workbench the day before, stored back in his toolbox. He put a camera on his workbench overnight.

That video is soooo cute! It’s not a rat, it’s a little elf! I would love an elf but I think these cats would be scared of it and BJ would give it a swat!

Awwww, poor rabbit! Such a nice-looking rabbit, too! I hope (s)he finds a nice home and is loved by someone.

I love the photo of Sammi Angel and the Bear! That is adorable! The Bear does look like it would be snuggly for kitties. People too! Lol Thst blue iris is a favorite with me too! The color is amazing. Sarah’s Garden usually has something pretty blooming.

The eggs in the photo are real eggshells. I blew the egg out and decorated them some years ago for an orchid show near Easter time. Cutting the shell required some care. Lol the ones covered in pearls are actually hinged and open up. One has a miniature sculpture of an orchid inside it. Another egg is cut out and is done like a little shadowbox. They were fun to make. I used to have a lot more but over the years I have gifted them away. I love the Ukrainian eggs and also Faberge’ eggs. All beautiful works of art. I would love to be able to make those!

Jcatbird, I'm very impressed with your crafting skills, what cool eggs!
Really cool !!!! You made ALL of them, Jcatbird Jcatbird

I wish they could tip all the cats like they did to Banjo, with just a little snip. It looks so much nicer.
I had to scroll back up to look at her ear, as I'd never noticed the tip before. Much nicer, for sure.

Banjo’s ear tip was done at a vet office rather than a clinic. It’s a much kinder tipping if you ask me. I don’t like the heavy tipping the clinics here do.
The eggs were fun and fairly easy to do. Blowing out the egg was the hardest part. I did several dozen of the eggs for that show and nearly blew myself down. They got an award from the American Orchid Society but that was a shock to me. :eek2: I did them for fun and to promote their shows and prime objective in any way I could. It is a good cause. The cats are one that needs far more attention though.
