Update on Prince: They are going to operate on his leg next week. He needs some work done on his teeth too, to be done later. He has had some bad luck in life, but his luck is about to change!

Drivers needed for transporting rescued cats! Please! Anyone reading this who can help, please weigh in!

My cats are going to the vet for their birthday present in June.
That frog toy is cute. Are you sure it isn't a toad? Demi made friends with a toad once out in the garage.

Just working on trying to find drivers for the first three kitties. I don't know if she will be able to save the kitty with the bad leg. The rescue doesn't pay for it. She is on the board of directors of a rescue and has fostered many of the kittens I have given her through them, but all the money for vetting my colony is her personal money. They are not in the rescue's program.

Thank you so much, Jcatbird -- you are so kind! No, I don't know the answer to the tax/funds matter, unfortunately. It's wonderful that Dolly had a good checkup -- I'm not surprised, as his "Meowm" loves him so and takes such good care of him! That is such a cute frog. *I see no family resemblance, Smokey*

All my hopes and prayers are going out for the kitty with the hurt leg. That’s especially on my mind. All the kitties there are in my prayers and have my heart. You start the threads and I’ll be posting right behind you there. Here too! I’ll try to pass the word to others who might know how to find help on that. You know how much I want those kitties out of there.

Thank you for passing on the transport info. I’ve really been hoping for those kitties. I’ve been following their story and they’ve been waiting for homes a long time after going through a lot of terrible times. One drew extra attention from abusers due to being very noticeable. His light colored coat made him very visible. They are so close to loving and safe homes now! If I could drive that far I would go and get them! Hoping!

As always, I’m running behind schedule. Lol I had to connect with a rescue person who lives south of me today as well as a shelter director. I just love both of those ladies! They do a whole lot of work for kitties in their areas! I love cat people!

Our smiles tonight ( besides the news about Prince!) come from Lady. She has been to the vet! Another happy report. Whew! She’s in great shape. I’m not sure she has forgiven me yet though. I’ll let you be the judge!

Hiding under the towel makes a kitty feel safe but it’s not very effective!

The vet and technician found Lady anyway! Her fur stood up when the stethoscope got her. Poor Lady.

Then it was a shot time and right back under the towel.

Laaaady! Uh oh! I think someone is mad at me.

Back at home I still got the stink eye.

I know she’s upset with me but this look ........!

I kept trying to make up.....

No!

She ignored me and started bathing.

Go away Mom!

Trying to get the vet small off of my fur!

Mom’s don’t realize how bad vet smell sticks to kitty fur!

It’s everywhere!

This takes a lot of licking!

Treats! Well, I guess I can stop long enough for that. I might forgive you.

Thank you Lady! She did forgive me. I really had to work for it but who can blame her? Shots hurt and the other cats don’t like it when you smell like a vet office.

I seem to be getting a lot of stink eye and suspicious looks today. I guess two cats in two days smelling like the vet office will do that. The bad thing is that I have to make one more trip this week because they were out of flea treatment for cats over 9 pounds! Dolly got his but I need more for the other big kitties. I suppose I’ll smell like vet and Banjo will be looking at me like I stink! I may shower as soon as I get home. Oh boy! A cat’s facial expressions can speak volumes. I do love how a cat can talk without saying a word! Thank goodness they always forgive us.

A cat who freezes at the vet makes it easy. I almost always carry gloves with me..... just in case! Lol Lady really was indignant. She’s okay today though.

Jcatbird Well, I don't blame you at all, Lady and Banjo! A cat's sense of smell being about FOURTEEN times as sensitive as a human's, it's probably well nigh intolerable for them, as is that awful OCS *Other Cat Scent* humans sometimes bring into their cats' homes after CHEATING on them by touching strange cats
And yes, I can't even wrap my mind around people who say cats have no facial expressions. To me, their faces register emotion more than most humans'. *And I just LOVE Banjo's disbelief and affrontedness in the series of photos you've just posted!*

Today was a very early morning on getting cats attended to and a friend coming by to help me with some things. After all was done...... I snuck in a cat nap! That was a nice treat! I felt totally lazy doing that!
After BJ, Banjo, Mitsy, WhistleThrasher and I got up it was back to some house chores. I also planted some flower seeds in Sarah’s Garden this afternoon. I do that every year. Lady helped me. The Iris, roses and Coreopsis are already blooming. The Mexican Heather too. We have white phlox blooming in the backyard near the Banana Shrub ( a favorite!)Smells wonderful back there!
Back inside I started the routine of applying some flea meds. I have to convince a few of the kitties to let me do that. Some don’t mind me putting the liquid behind their necks but others hate it. I try to apply it while they are relaxed from a nap. That seems to work the best. The vet still hasn’t gotten in the rest of the doses we need. Hopefully tomorrow. I have to keep track of the dates everyone gets their treatments. It’s easier for me if they are all pretty close together.

I think it’s time for a BJ day!

He was enjoying some private Mom time....

When Mitsy interrupted.

She put out her paw to ask for pets too!

I can pet two at once.....

But BJ turned to look at me.
Then he turned to stare at Mitsy.

I held up my hand between them and Mitsy reached up for me.

BJ began to extend a paw to hold her at a distance.

So I pulled back to pet him.

Again, Mitsy reaches out to Mom.

I kept going back and forth petting each kitty.

Petting BJ got me a look from Mitsy and another extended paw.

I finally put my hand between them.

Mitsy tried to make peace with BJ by putting her paw, gently upon his.

Smart girl! He relaxed with a big yawn.

His whole demeanor changed.....

So Mitsy gave him a kiss!

After that they shared Mom petting!
I love watching the way the cats communicate with me and between each other. It may not be onbvious to people who have never watched them closely but if you observe carefully, you’ll see how kitties talk.

Kitty love and respect is amazing!

Awww. Gardening with Lady sounds like an enjoyable afternoon.

She put out her paw to ask for pets too!

Maggie does something similar. She usually hates to be petted, but if my dad & I are deep in conversation, she will come over and stand between us and beg to be petted. It's so funny and cute! It's almost like she's jealous.

A wonderful series of photos, as ever. I love to pet two at once, too. And we have the same dynamics going on here as well. Elvis, who usually prowls the "savannah" on warm weather nights, has magnanimously condescended to sleep with us, so far, every night, even as it turns warmer, and when he jumps up on the bed, Baby Su starts trash-talking him, which seems to leave him somewhat bemused (even though she has good reason to grumble, because he chases her). But he gets comfortable and curls in his preferred spot, and all is well once again. Tarifa, of course, being the closest to perfection of anyone, anywhere, at any time, is cool, calm, and collected in her place, and often purrs.

M maggiedemi That’s so funny about Maggie! She is being polite and only interrupting by holding out a paw! I bet that makes you smile! I did when I read that!
It was nice taking a little time outside with Lady. It’s a spot that is very secure and relaxing. When the sun is out it’s beautiful. There are all kinds of flowers there. The garden was started before I had Lady. It used to be my daughter there with me. Sarah loved scented flowers so most things there smell wonderful! A few things are just there because they are pretty though. I can’t resist the blue Iris. Lol As the seasons pass the scents change but most of the year there is something nice to smell. Lady goes up to smell the flowers too!

surya Fantastic pursuit for transport for the kitties! I’m hoping for volunteers respond. Save the kitties!

The two handed petting is always nice! Kitty love on all sides. Sometimes I get a third doing head bumps too! Lol

We made it through the storm with minor damage on the property. The winds took down a lot of branches and a few small trees. Nothing too bad. The cats didn’t like the noise though. It prevented me from getting back to the vet but the kitties were glad I was here and didn’t show up vet scented! The storms actually give me a little down time. This one will require some clean up time though.

Baby Su trash talks Elvis! I love it when they talk to each other. BJ tends to ignore trash talk as well. Smart fellows.
I’m glad you liked the photos. The kitties are very kind to let me get the pictures. Cats are extremely photogenic. They make it so easy. I hope you’ll enjoy the Banjo antics from today. She was staying close to me because of the storm. I guess she just wanted to be available to help me out. She did!

She was napping beside me when the landline phone started ringing.

When I wouldn’t let her answer it, she wasn’t pleased. What a look!

Her expression , well, let’s just say that I could tell what she was thinking.

Petting was in order.

As I petted her I needed to jot down some information I was getting over the phone.

She helped me out by finding my pen.

She showed me wher I had left it.....

And she was going to take notes for me but....

She had a little trouble getting a grip.

She was working on it but getting the tip out was troublesome.

Pens just aren’t made for paws.

She did her best but since I was in a hurry I had to borrow the pen from her and make the notes myself.

Banjo accused me of being to impatient!
More petting had to follow! If she ever becomes President, she’s going to be a good one!! Who could ever deny that face anything? I can’t.
