Just back from our neighbours apartment - their cats are fine, very pretty but oh my word talk about over weight !
The first is Richie, then Koshka (Just means female cat but it's got lovely sub meanings think Kitty) and finallyTimmi - he is definitely a big boy !!!

Beautiful cats, even with their excess weight. Knowing the definition, I love the name Koshka for a name. Thanks for taking on caring from them, now that their owner has gone to her other home.

Please know I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts.

It is always great to do a good deed and fall in love with new cats!!! They really are gorgeous!!!

There are a lot of stories but one I wanted to mention is about a charity worker and how they met a woman named Nadia. Nadia walked for 4 days with her cat to the Polish border. That determination and love for her cat is so wonderful. And that is probably being repeated many times over.

I just saw President Zelensky's speech to the House of Commons. So inspiring.

All the former and current military leaders and government officials are so impressed with Pres Zelensky and the people of Ukraine and the military and Territorial Defense members. Everyone of them is so impressed and inspired. It is amazing to watch them show they admiration and respect.

So far I have met these guys 3 times, Koshka is not very friendly and grumbles when she sees me but is sniffing my fingers and I will wait for that. Timmi is not happy with me for holding him while Alina wipes his eyes, (the vet said use Clorahexedrine but we think distilled water is better) but I am able to brush him and get a bit closer. Richie is much more friendly and likes to be brushed plus he is playing with balls when I am there with him so great kitties. Our 3 are very interested when we get home but I am not planning to bring them together unless the vermin extermination plan goes awry.

I saw on the BBC news that there are plans to cut the energy imports from Russia to the US, Britain and EU thanks so very much, we are so very sorry for the extra cost to you but please support us. In kiev things are not too bad yet but across the rest of the country we desperatly need your help. Russia is recieving 500 million dollars PER DAY from the energy market (source Reuters) and much of that money is being used to kill us.

Luckily the artillery is still too far away it seems but hopefully the missiles and rockets don't get sent in. As Putin loses more he gets more desperate since his military is getting defeated so badly by the Ukrainian military and territorial defense forces.

" - Yes Military experts believe he can only continue with the costs and losses of equipment for another few weeks. I HOPE they are correct. But a few more weeks can do way too much more damage. US Intelligence says that Putin does not want to face the US and NATO forces. So I wish they would show up to deter and stop him. They are afraid of Putin using a tactical nuke on Ukraine or Poland. But does Putin and/or his top people want to die too??? The US public is outraged and angry more is not being done. I HATE war, HATE killing but if we stand by and allow what is happening is that right either????

So many businesses are leaving Russia. People that know are saying the Russian economy will be decimated in a few months. Problem is China is now buying a lot of oil and commodities they say. Russia will have economic problems and the people will suffer and hopefully they turn on Putin and remove him from office. Putin is losing everything, soldiers, equipment, businesses, almost everyone in the world hates him, NATO is closer and more together, Ukrainians are more together and hating Putin. He has done the opposite of what an intelligent person would want to do.

Our US Intelligence worries that as Putin loses more he will escalate more targeting civilians. Just today the Russians bombed a hospital in Mariupol. War crime!!!!

Many former military leaders wrote a letter asking for allies to provide missile and air defense systems to Ukraine to shot down incoming missiles and the planes that are bombing. I HOPE those calls are answered. I understand it will take time and it might be more difficult to get them in place. But let's hope.

On a good note, many people are hoping that the meeting tomorrow between the Foreign Ministers from Ukraine and Russia will find a solution. Israeli PM Bennett met with Putin and it sounds like Russia is asking for Crimea and Donbass to be Russian and for Ukraine to say no to NATO in exchange for the end of the war and to allow President Zelensky to remain in office. I have no idea if that is smart or not in the long run but if it ends to death and suffering in the near term it might be best. It is way beyond my capability to know but hopefully the world leaders can figure out what is best.

Putin is losing and has lost. The fear is he escalates like a child destroying everything in a temper tantrum. US Intelligence say Putin can afford to "lose" this war for his political survival. But he already has lost in reality. But maybe the solution above could give him an out. I don't know. Many US current and former officials fear Satan will use a tactical nuclear weapon to "win" which of course would be a bigger loss in reality. I do know, I just am repeating what I am hearing from people on the Television.

So there are moments of hope, moments of fear watching the analysis. I pray the "hope" comes true.

I wish I had good advice to give you and Alina to keep you all safe. I just pray a cease fire and the end of the war happens soon and there is no more death and suffering. These war crimes need to stop!!!

Try to step up play if at all possible with Belle to build some territorial security and to drain some energy. I would try to distract Belle if possible before the chase, try to diffuse and make it into a positive encounter (or at least not "negative"). Try to also feed them together (positive association) and try to "hang out" in a positive way with them if possible and not being at risk of being hurt in any way.

Make sure Belle has as much free access to the "pre-Cora" territory. I knw it is hard but try to have Cora spend more time in areas Belle spends the least amount of time. For example, if Belle spends the evening in the bedroom make sure Cora is somewhere else if possible. Things like that.

Are Belle and Cora acting as "normal" as possible? Or does it seem more negative?

All seems pretty normal to me, if we have a fault I think we are keeping them apart too much but we cannot risk them injuring each other when most vets are closed and we really don't need any extra stress right now

Ok, good. As long as they are not fighting BUT we don't want negative feelings and distrust to build between them. It is a difficult balance.

The pictures are GORGEOUS!!! I just LOVE them!!

Does Cora seem pretty confident? Body language? Belle's? A confident cat is less likely to attack or be attacked. So if you can build both Belle's and Cora's confidence through Play, Food (positive associations), Height and Love (safely) that could help.

If you have the together try as best to keep it as positive as possible. I like to distract as needed to keep it positive (distract in a positive way and reassure all is ok).

Agreed, we can't have injuries. I think I would err on the side of caution and keep them supervised as best as possible.

The current stress and noises probably doesn't help.

You have great instincts so just do your best and make it as positive for them as possible to build trust and positive associations.

Also, PLEASE DO NOT be hard on yourself. You are doing the best you can, having them apart more than you like given the risks is not really a big deal I think. I know what you mean that it can cause some uncertainty but if you can try to make it as positive as possible when they are near each other then the time apart will not be that challenging. Just hang in there and try not to stress and overthink it. You are doing great (they are not fighting!!!).

Just referencing my last update from Kyiv, our 3 cat craziness has temporarily increased to 4. We could use some name suggestions for a very good looking young man who we are looking after at the moment prior to rehoming my latest idea was pannacotta ( from Pan Kot or Mr cat geddit) there are no vets in the village our friend lives and none in the nearest town so he will be in our тамбур or entrance way for a while during treatment for a virus and snipping etc. While we were at the vets there was a conflict between the cat that works there and a dog (patient I think) and the vet was v stern to the dog , sit down be quiet! And the cat got picked up and pushed outside so Alina is asking should we be sterner with Belle when she starts liberating I mean chasing Cora? The pictures are what is happening right now while everyone is in the kitchen except Ali a and the newbie

I'm terrible coming up with names, but I also wonder if any name you choose would be temporary as his new human might want to rename him.

As for being sterner with Belle, I guess your know her purr-sonality, and know if that would stress her out or not. But certainly saying "no" when she chases Cora seems like it would be ok.

When Cora is out of reach Belle will try to stretch and give a little squeak that sounds like she wants to play, I am rewarding that with treats for everyone. But when Cora is on the floor Belles chase is not playful, almost predatory. That gets a strong no or нил зя! In Russian but we don't seem to be making progress.

SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED has made an executive decision that following our alphabet theme the малчик will be called Danig which is the Russian form for Danny. Sounds like a great name. Belle and Aza are interested I what's behind door number 1 but they are not obsessing, Cora has scented him on us and hasn't reacted negatively yet but has been stuck on top of the kitchen all evening so we will see. Danig's temperature seems better now and he has had his ears cleaned a couple of times tonight but we will be at the vet tomorrow morning anyway
