My cat is addicted to these same treats!!! We can't even say the word treat, we spell it out because she goes mental if she hears the word. She begs for them constantly and won't eat regular food without them. This is very odd.
I have a Bengal and he is the best and the worst. That's the best way to describe him. He's extremely demanding and has claimed me as his forever human (and no one else). Needs almost constant interaction and follows me everywhere. It can be exhausting. I love him dearly and will never adopt...
Hi, just replying from your question above. They would be on the medication on a regular basis like a human. Try to give them a daily dose at the same time of day. Then it takes about 4ish weeks to start seeing a difference, although it can take longer. I'm on week 1 with the oral version, after...
I'm hiding the prozac pill in a soft treat. They really like these treats that look like 'slim jims' and it hides the split pill well enough to get it down.
A possible solution/idea: I purchased a one story crate/cage for my female kitty to stay in while the male is able to roam the room.
I have some posts with info on their aggressive behavior towards each other but in brief: they started fighting out of the blue a few months ago and it was...
5 Week Update:
Today we switched to a pill form of Fluoxetine. I'm traveling in a month and my housemate cannot handle the ear application. Also, no noticeable mood changes with either cat using the ear (transdermal) medication for five straight weeks. They had no issues either.
It feels like...
I have an extremely agressive cat as well and like abyeb mentioned I have him on prozac. It's been almost three weeks with the ear application medication. No changes yet but it has been said to take 4-6 weeks to see results. I hope you can get some help soon.
Update:
10 days in with the ear application and things are going ok. The two cats are still separated as reintroduction is not doable yet. They seem basically the same with no change in behaviour, sleeping, eating, drinking or bathroom habits. The male cat cleaned his ear after I did an...
I've just received the prescription in the mail and we started with Prozac a few hours ago.
All things seem ok so far.
If anyone is interested in knowing what's happening, I can update with info in this thread. :-)
- Prescribed: Fluoxetine 5mg
- Twist-a-dose Transdermal Gel
- Each 2 full...
Hi Dannie,
I haven't used it yet. I will be updating, as I start, with progress. I used Wedgewood Pharmacy in NJ. Their website: wedgewoodpharmacy.com
I've heard maybe two people mention that it doesn't work that well but I did ask my vet and he has other cats/dogs on this ear application...
I also posted this on a thread about cats on prozac but just in case anyone else is reading and needs updated info: I've just ordered Fluoxetine (Prozac) from an online pharmacy using the vet's prescription. This is for the transderma ear gel. For a one month tube at 5mg a day it cost $19 plus...
Just adding info in the mix here. I've just ordered Fluoxetine (Prozac) from an online pharmacy using the vet's prescription. This is for the transderma ear gel. For a one month tube at 5mg a day it cost $19 plus shipping. Really soo much cheaper than what I read from a few other people! I hope...
btw the male is a bengal and large and very agressive when provoked so I'm starting prozac on both to get some sort of calm back. Advised by my vet. That would be my next step if the calming techniques show no improvement.
