    Kitten randomly starting to suckle

I have a cat that was a feral rescue. He was just a bit older than the other one when I got him ... they weren't sure but probably about ten weeks old or so (they tended to separate the kittens from their mothers asap to "tame" them).  He developed a relationship with my older neutered male...

Urgent - cat fearful and attacking!

Me too! I can't believe she went after my face. I must admit, I was scared of her after that. Strange to be afraid of such a tiny animal, but she is capable of inflicting some damage ... especially if I am mindful of not hurting her (which of course I don't want to hurt her).  I'm sure me being...

Urgent - cat fearful and attacking!

OK, no longer urgent. At least I don't think so.  Cooling off ALONE seems to have done the trick. She's acting fairly normally now. She did rub her scent all over me and I held off petting her until she was really begging for it. And I still haven't taken more than a step or so, which means I'm...

My Feral brought me a ..... gift ..... not sure what to do.

I'm no expert, but standard advice says that she's bringing you mice to "feed" you, and now she's bringing you half-dead ones to teach you to hunt on your own, as she would a kitten. Maybe she adopted you? ;) I think it's sweet. Do you have any problems with collecting them and disposing of...

How did he know today was the day

When I leave the house, I move my cat's litterbox from the bathroom into the bedroom and close the door so she stays in the bedroom. She has a whole room, food, water, litterbox, the bed where she normally lounges, and an open window. She's perfectly happy in there all day if the door is open. ...

Urgent - cat fearful and attacking!

I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do. I have a cat almost 5 years old, feral rescue, has been super-sweet since a tiny kitten when I got her. today she got caught in the cat door when I was in another room, and by the time I got to her, she was free of the door (screaming her head...

Frustrated: Kitten playing with litter & food

Would it help you if you containEd the mess somewhat? Like putting the litterbox inside of a larger Rubbermade tote kind of box? So that if she DOES still scoop it out, it will be contained, and you can just pour it back in since it's clean? You could also put her food in a larger container...

Cat Meowing (sorry for the ramble)

Both my cats meow quite a bit, but they let me know for what. If it's attention, they jump up next to me. If it's dry food or to open a door for them, they try to lead or herd me to it. And if it's treat/soft food/begging they mew INCESSANTLY and get underfoot and nearly trip me. But I'm not...

My cat pee'd on me while sleeping

I really would see to it quickly. I had a 1 year old male, recently neutered, who was just my best little buddy. I might have missed something, or he hid it well. I noticed one day he was suddenly off, and obviously in pain while trying to urinate. He didn't want me handling him and the vet was...

    Question to the members here

I have only had one cat do that. It was a litterbox issue with him. It HAD to be cleaned after he pooped. If it wasn't, and he needed to go, he'd go in the bathtub. If for some reason it wasn't discovered and cleaned before he had to go again, the next place was the bed. Never got beyond that...

    Does your cat fo/o

Crystal does too. I REALLY like to be alone in there sometimes, so I have to pretend I'm going back out and hope she rushes out before me so I can shut the door. At least she doesn't really get upset when I do that. I'm just not allowed to be in there very long unattended.

    bad cat

I just have to say Otto's advice is very good. We found a TINY kitten once, raised it on a bottle, and had terrible issues when he was a few months old. I had always been a dog person and no idea how to deal with him! I went online and got much of the same advice Otto gave (especially to stop...

    Behavioral signals of mood

Oops, you said good mood. I was mis-remembering and thinking you asked about knowing when they are annoyed. My cats are almost always in a good mood, so I guess I don't notice anything specific? When Crystal is being REALLY affectionate, again, I see it in her eyes. Hard to describe though...

    Behavioral signals of mood

Great topic and something I'm always interested in. My cats are great at communicating their wants. Maybe they think I'm dense and need all that help, lol. Crystal meows and stretches up and makes eye contact when she really wants something, like tuna. If Russet wants to be petted, he will...

    Feline Apology?

Crystal will do something similar on the rare occasion she gets carried away and bites me when she's playing (also no broken skin). At first she looks at me with narrowed eyes, not looking particularly apologetic at that point. But she will always gently grab my hand and lick that spot, then...
