Some old postcards or photos are treasure as we cannot relive them. I guess you can post them here as this is your thread and we've been posting photos other than cats :paperbag:
Well..... actually the cats checked for a copyright and did not find one but they were interested in what fell out of the books. You know how ferals are, interested in anything new! :)

I see a BJ paw!

As soon as you said the word Chincoteague, I knew it would be the wild ponies...Swoon...😍🐎

You never know what may turn up. It pays to look and hope. Perhaps you’ll get a surprise of some sort soon.
Yeah, I think one might be headed my way soon. ;)

Lady decided she wanted a late night stroll.
My little Lady is so brave. Taking walks at night and climbing on top of cupboards. What next? :goldstar:

That's how I found a picture of Michele, my parents, and me from our wedding reception. I was looking for an illustration of the fire-fighting training we got in boot camp, and in opening the 'yearbook' from then, the picture and one other, along with one of our invitations, fell out. No money, though.

Beautiful palomino! I was horse-obsessed as a small girl. Never shared life with one, but had some of the plastic ones. I slept with them, and all the model cars I had, too. *WEIRD kid.* The dinosaurs also. And of course, beloved cats!!!
Sometimes I'll see scarabs coming through. They are very noisy when they fly, so I always know it's them when I hear one. The iridescent green and gold ones are so gorgeous!
Such a wonderful clowder! I miss that forest of cattails in my own life.

tabbytom tabbytom As a kid I loved Tonto, the Lone Range and Silver. I also loved Tontos horse. Originally named “White Feller” it later became “Scout.”

M maggiedemi I am sure something will come along to fire you up as a surprise.

You had to ask,” What’s next” with Lady.

N NY cat man That was a nice surprise finding the pictures and invitations. It’s kind of weird how we go looking for one thing but find something else! Lol
So..... you have a lot of books too? ;) If we could flip through a book every hour, maybe we could flip them all. I wonder if we could teach the kitties to sniff out money? Lol They have fine tuned sniffing abilities. Hold up a dollar every time they get a treat? Line a litter box with dollars so they scratch them out? Considering the cost of litter, it might balance out!

rubysmama rubysmama Her springs work extremely well! I think she ended up in the tree on her way back down! Lol
I was always in love with horses too. I have only rescued one Welsh Pony but she reminds me a lot of the photo of the ponies in the herd. White with brown spotting. She had tons of personality and I adored her. She had a sense of humor much like Banjo. She was always playing tricks. In the Spring she learned how to go up the steps, open the door to the screened porch and drink my mothers coffee before sneaking back out. My mom accused me of snitching the coffee at first. (I wasn’t allowed coffee). When we finally caught Shady going out the door and down the steps, It was just too funny for my mom to be mad. She was very smart!

Elephants are fascinating. They are extremely intelligent and family oriented. I love how they all protect each other. Much like a kitty colony.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I thought I was the only girl building model cars! Lol Later I loved “Hit Wheels.” Any time I knew I would be getting a gift, my request was ALWAYS a horse statue! I kept them beside my bed. ( the kitties were always in the bed with me lol) I had them arranged in “family” groups. Two big ones with a smaller one in between to be the foal. I spent many long hours making little scenes in the yard for them. A field of grass was bordered by mountains made of sand and a puddle was the river. Lol My horses were always wild ones. I still have some of them. I passed a few to other “horse loving” little girls over the years. I still love horses. My interest in fossils came from my interest in dinosaurs. One of the books I just packed was “A Little Golden Book” of plants and Dinosaurs. Lol
If you could ever come visit, I will put you in a field of cat tails!

We have Banker ponies here in North Carolina, as well. At some point, I'll bully someone into driving me to the ferry landing in Morehead City or Beaufort, and riding over to see them. Here are a few, just for you!

Lol Lady did not get a bath in water. She did get brushed though. She didn’t object to that.
Funny thing though, she ran out to another room with the toy chick and now I can’t find it. Maybe she’s giving it a bath. Lol

Have a great night everyone! Beware of leaves in your hair! :heartshape:

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I do know of those horses. I have been following the Fish and Wildlife involvement of them and the ponies of Chincoteague and Assoteague island and been very interested since my Grandfather first told me of growing up around both. The Bankers have now been classified as Spanish or Colonial Mustangs and have remained a pure breed due to their isolation on those islands. The ponies of the other islands have been interbred over the centuries with settlers imports of things like Shetland ponies and others. Both are very limited in numbers. Acts to allow an increase in the numbers has passed but not been acted on yet. Both types now number around 100 animals. 120 to 130 is the , hoped for, number that can be sustained there. When the Chincoteague harems increase beyond finding sustenance, they are rounded up to have the extras adopted out these days. Thankfully. The Bankers are a small horse technically but the others are considered ponies. There is one other herd of Banker mustangs on another island. Officially they were all non native , invasive species according to the government. Fortunately, people like us, love them and there are now organizations watching out for them. There are very strict laws in relation to them and no human is allowed to get close. They are protected. Finally. Any animal at risk, sick or in need is brought in to rescue and given all the care required.
For those who do not know of the Banker horses, they are unlike any other horse in the world. Isolated for about 500 years on these islands. they are survivors and can swim from one island to another to find fresh grazing. They actually dig up small wells to have a constant supply of fresh water. They are extremely intelligent horses. Beautiful and unique on this earth. May they and the Chincoteague ponies survive there forever. 🐎🐈 Whether it is a feral cat or a feral horse, all lives count.
Now, if we can just get the feral cats there protected as well! It is thought that many of the cats arrived there the same way the horses and ponies arrived. I have long been of the opinion that many cats there are similar or related to the Maine Coon cat. As cats originating from those on sailing vessels, they are also survivors to be respected, admired and protected.

Hi everyone.

I have had luck in catching three out of four kittens but I know the last one will be the most challenging to trap. For one thing it is only her now and mom cat is keeping close by her side. I have seen the kitten go up and sniff at the trap but then her mother lets out a low growl and she backs away from it. I can't wait to trap mom!

I lost the friendly stray. I had him for about a week and he got out my front door one night and I have not seen him since. He has no reason to come back, he doesn't know me or the house. I am worried because a woman down the road from me had a coyote charge her and her little dog the other day. I wish I had left him alone.

No sign of O'Malley yet but I do keep putting out food where somebody said they last saw him.

They would probably be considered politically incorrect these days but the root of the stories was always about rescue and the triumph of good. I always liked Tonto. Of course the Lone Ranger was the lead but it just seemed that his sidekick was just as important. ;) We all need others to help us out. All I knew as a child was that the good guys won. Hi oh Silver! Away!

jefferd18 jefferd18 That’s great that you caught three! Keep on trying to get the rest. Mom kitty is smart but kittens do things in spite of mom.
So sorry one slipped out. Keep watch as he may be hiding. I am still hoping that O’Malley will show up again. The one that got out, is that the one that kept O’Malley away, or did that one ever show up again after that? Either way, they lurk somewhere nearby so don’t give up!
