Furballsmom Furballsmom He is a “one in a million”, but , aren’t they all? He is quite a special character though. He is very comfortable in his own fur. Lol

M maggiedemi My Dad is married. Sorry! Lol Would you settle for being a sister?

You are tough but empathy should be given whenever needed. Moral support too. Tough doesn’t mean we don’t have feelings.

I do know what you admire in nature. Beautiful things have been created. ;)

I will find you some Tull but it will be a bit later. Today has been all off schedule and tomorrow was already booked solid! Yikes! Catch up time!

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 The orchids are fun and beautiful but can never match being with a cat of any color. :)

I find these cats have preferences too. We all know that Mackie loves watching Nora play the piano. Banjo loves her Prince and watches him for hours on end. Sometimes Whistle prefers NOT to watch things. Lol BJ loves the birds. Feathered and female four legged. Each has their favorites.

tabbytom tabbytom The orchid photos are spectacular! The colors are beautiful. The one you were unsure of and questioned Cymbidium is actually a multi generic hybrid. It appears to be a Beallara. The last one is definitely a Lady slipper and probably a Phragmipedium. Also a hybrid. I love every one of those! The middle two probably smelled wonderful as well as being beautiful. Thank you for sharing those! Orchids hold a special place with me.

Thank you! Yes, some are hybrids and therefore it’s hard to ID them (at least for me). Glad you like them.

I’ll post the rest and maybe you are better in I.D.’ing them

I am having a great deal of trouble getting on site right now. Sorry guys!
M maggiedemi
I was going to put this on the music thread but only just managed to get back on at all and had already hit to return here so.....
This is the lead singer and flute player for Jethro Tull. He loves cats and this was done for his little black cat Rupi who liked to get up on hand legs to dance to the flute. He had another cat, I think nicknamed Mr. Big pants. Lol Anyway, I hope this comes through.

My Dad is married. Sorry!
Awww too bad. Hee hee. I probably should find somebody closer to my own age anyway. This isn't working for me lately.

empathy should be given whenever needed. Moral support too.
Yes, I wish there was more empathy in the world. :hugs:

I do know what you admire in nature. Beautiful things have been created. ;)
Hee hee. I guess I was feeling romantical yesterday....or something...

I will find you some Tull but it will be a bit later
Thanks for all the tunes you sent! I will let you know what I think later today. ❤

Up high please!
Hey, is that my little angel Lady up there?! :eek2: How did you get up there? :headscratch:

Jcatbird Jcatbird , here are the rest of the orchid photos.

Miltonia or Miltionosis ( commonly called Pansy orchid)
IMG_7685.JPG

In the Carley’s family but as a hybrid it could be a Laeliocattleya
IMG_7688.JPG

Miltonia hybrid.
IMG_7689.JPG

This cattleya would have Brassavola in it and could be a BLC, meaning Brassavola, Laelia and Cattleya bred together to get this ruffled lip and big nice flower.
IMG_7690.JPG

Brassavola ( also called Rhyncholaliea) digbyana in the breeding of this Cattleya. Guessing laelia too. The fringe on the lip is always a tip off to the digbyana.
IMG_7691.JPG

Zygopetalum in this! I love these and the color usually also comes with a great scent. There are multi generic hybrids with the zygopetalum.
IMG_7692.JPG

Dendribium pierardii / aphyllum. Likely a species and not a hybrid.
IMG_7694.JPG

Another multi generic. Brass is in it. Brassidium perhaps.
IMG_7679.JPG

Odontocidium or Odontoglossum.
IMG_7680.JPG

Brassia.
IMG_7683.JPG

Another Odontoglossum/Odontocidium type.
IMG_7697.JPG

Paphiopedilum. Could be a rothschildianum or hybrid with that like St. Swithin.
IMG_7705.JPG

The last one looks like a Comparettia.I can’t really get scale here. It could well be Ionpsis utriculoides.

Some orchids I shot during an orchid exhibit in Gardens by The Bay. The I.Ds to the flowers is as close as I can get as there are many hybrids out there now.

Cymbidium Orchid?

Not sure if this one belongs to the Paphiopedilium (Lady Slipper) species

Will post the other few more later which I can't stick an I.D on them.
Thanks for sharing these gorgeous blooms with us! What a pick-me-up!

I thought we might share a special flower too. This is an Oncidium sphcelatum Sarah.
Y'all know that I'm a touch "otherly wired," but as soon as I saw these photos, before I even read the post, I thought, "OH LOOK! A tiny little girl angel, I can see her halo sticking up behind her, and her arms are outstretched to hug the world, and God kissed her this morning, and I can see his lip print on her robe!

Dendribium pierardii / aphyllum. Likely a species and not a hybrid. They drop their leaves and just when it appears to be in decline, it blooms like crazy! Lol

If you click to expand I put the names with each photo. I can’t pinpoint all hybrids but I hope this helps.
With hybrids it’s a little tough to be sure. A Miltocidium could be a Brassidium. Lol Orchid breeding produces new hybrids at a rapid rate. Reclassification is an ongoing thing too. What was an Encyclia may now be called a Prosthechia. Lol Beautiful flowers and excellent orchid photos. Because orchids are flowers with parts at different depths, they can be a challenge. You have lovely focus in each one. I thoroughly enjoyed them. Thank you for the Flower show! :clap2:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 The orchid photos are a Pick me up for me too! Lovely show!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Very observant! The Oncidiun sphacelatum is in a family of flowers known as “Dancing ladies!” The figure of a lady and beautiful gown is definitely there. I also can see what you noted. I especially liked the thought that she has that kiss still on her gown. :hugs:

Tonight I caught Whistle talking to Froggie.

Froggie was doing most of the talking.

Whistle was listening intently.
76BA2A5F-DCBC-4232-A7AD-75A3A5DB79D0.jpeg

It must have been interesting because Whistle didn’t budge.

Then I noticed a little change of expression.

Here is what I heard.... Cats may have nine lives but Froggies have waaaay more!

I thought I would give everyone a second smile tonight. Orchids can have beautiful large flowers. They can also have very unusual long bloom stems/spikes with fascinating little flowers.

Meet Bulbophyllim maximum. The long dark pendulous thing is the bloom stem.
D3EB6897-5E0D-45CE-B1E8-1998034B414A.jpeg

Here is the tip of that stem. On the right is one open flower and to the left, on each side of the stem, a flower will open each day as the previous flowers go. The little dark things on the left are flower buds.

This gives you an idea of the size of the flower. Lol

A purrfect little miniature orchid! Meet maximum!
