It did not rain today! Yay! We did open the tuna and christen the boat!! The cats spent the day learning the rules of the sea. We practiced lots of things!

Thrasher practiced how to chase mice in the lifeboat.

Muffin attempted to learn how to rig a sail.
She’s going to keep working on making those knots! Lol

Lady decided she likes being in the Crow’s nest.

Froggie developed a signal to let us know all is ready. Calm seas for sailing.

Bonjure will use a tail flip to let us know the water is rising.

BJ learned how to read a navigational chart.

Whistle donned his sailors hat.

Then he practiced on his Bosuns whistle. One blast means turning to starboard. Two blasts means turning to port. Three blasts means going in reverse and five blast means Danger! (Banjo can’t drive!) :flail:

I think I whistled too much.

Can whistling make you seasick?

Banjo is now insisting that everyone call her Catptain Banjo! She’s very pleased with her Epurrlets.

Furballsmom Furballsmom I’m glad you laughed. Hooting could be another good signal!! Lol i just enjoy having the kitties and involving them in every aspect of life here. It’s fun. Except maybe teaching Muffing how to make a half hitch knot. Not working!! I think because her tail kept twitching into the knots. Lol

You are such a hoot, what a delightfully charming way of doing things :)
:yeah:

I love my morning smiles, Jcatbird Jcatbird . :) And this morning I appreciate it more than usual, since I started my day with the discovery that someone threw up overnight. How did I discover it you may wonder? By stepping in it, of course. :rolleyes3: Thankfully I was wearing slippers, with a thick sole, so my feet were protected. Yes, people, wear slippers!!!

The feline with the upset belly is fine, btw. Guess her poor tummy was empty, though, as she kept hovering around me while I cleaned, waiting for her empty dish to be filled. Now she's curled up on the sofa, dreaming sweet kitty dreams. :lovecat2:

white shadow white shadow If she gets her nose in a knot, tail in a twist? Serious stuff. I’ll have a macrame cat! A sneeze could be explosive! I could end up with a blimp cat!

rubysmama rubysmama Slippers are a must around her. I’m so sorry Ruby lost her supper! I hope she felt better after clearing things out. They always seem to put these things where we can find them so we know they need a refill. On a bad night around here, it’s like crossing an area the cats seeded with gifts. Tip toe through the tulips! Feel better, both of you!

An adorable crew, and they seem very able, too, @Jcatbird!⛵ Ready for any weather event that presents! :yess::coolcat:And one of the first things I suggested to my roomies, who, being Japanese, are used to going barefoot in the house, but have enjoyed time in the past with their beloved Tiger, is to wear slippers when indoors. Because CATS. :insertevillaugh:

Which is why I use one of those headlamps when I come downstairs in the early morning, because you never know. In fact, I was able to dodge 2 piles on the steps just a few days ago. By the way, I don't turn on the lights, so as not to disturb Michele's sleep.
You can have one or two rechargeable LED lights with motion sensors and place along the stairs at shoulder height and whenever you walk near the light it'll light up and at that height, the kitty would not set it off.

It's not bright but bright enuff to light up the path and it's not too blinding and would not actually wake the kitty but anyway, if you walk past them without lights, they already know you are coming before you reach them.

Or if there's a power outlet either in high or low position, you can just plug in a motion sensor LED light or one with a low light sensor which will turn on automatically when it's dark and turn off when when it's bight and just leave it on and this one don't have to keep recharging them.

We do have one of those motion-sensing LED lights at the top of the stairs, but because of the arrangement, there is no place to put any more of them further down. Also, there is a landing half way down, then the stairs turn 180 degrees, so a light at the top is ineffective, hence my use of the LED headlamp. I just put it on the lowest setting and hold it so it just casts light on the floor where I'm walking.

There are some that are rechargeable LED motion sensor lights and can be placed anywhere without a power outlet. So you can have a permanent one at the top of the stairs and one modular at the lower stairs but if headlights are more convenient, then stick with it.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 The crew enjoyed the idea of running the ship! Lol I think they would be excellent cruise directors.
Excellent advice to your roomies! It’s yucky to hit those land mines! My cats are tricky sometimes and place one IN my slippers!!

rubysmama rubysmama :flail:🌷 I knew that wasn’t Ruby but I bet she laughed too! I have very few items out that are made of glass. I know the tricks kitties play!! I have tip toed through the glass shards in the past. I’m educated now. Lol

N NY cat man So you are wise to their tricks!! The headlamp is an excellent idea and I know Michelle appreciates you being so considerate. What do the cats do when they see a light bobbing and floating through the dark? Lol

Furballsmom Furballsmom

tabbytom tabbytom Excellent suggestions. I have the Victor Flea lights in each room and they double as great night lights. Dual purpose. I love things that multi task!!

CL56 CL56 I’m not sure what’s worse, hitting a cold pile or a warm one! The only thing worse than either is finding one in my shoe! Cats are very creative. Hopefully you miss the next one!
