It's A Beautiful Day! - The Positive Thread 2019

My sister and I were able to talk on the phone last night for nearly an hour.
Sounds like a "small" thing, but with different time zones and different schedules, the phone call made yesterday a much better day!

Just got home from seeing my Pain Management doc. They've been weaning patients either down or off narcotics because of the opioid crisis. I've been suffering because of this for 18 months. Today he kept one of the meds the same and increased the other. I am so pleased.

Such a lovely day...almost a little too warm...but very windy.I'm in the house doing my vacuuming and mopping...a little laundry too.Hubby's outside,getting some mowing done and weedeating also.All of a sudden I hear him screaming for help and out the door I flew.He's running through the back yard trying to rip off his tee shirt,which I helped him do....he's smacking at his head.Turns out...he was mowing out by his bees and one of the hives got angry and some came after him,got down in his shirt and in his hair.I guess he got stung 3 times...ouch!He used to have a hive years ago that he had to wear his bee suit when he mowed.Guess he has another...but he's okay,thank goodness.I suppose in the morning he'll don his suit and move the mower.

For him and keeping bees as many years as he has,3 stings aren't that big of a deal.What scared him to the point of yelling for me was that they came out of the hive in a cloud,but luckily just the 3 hit their mark.Whew!

One of the employees at our local coffee shop treated me to a hot drink today. She knows my "usual" mid-day picker upper.

I won a $25 movie gift card at my school's bingo tonight.

I also found out yesterday that I won a puzzle at the tnr event I was at on Sunday that I had to leave early.

I never win anything, so I'm wondering whose life I've currently taken over. But I'm still enjoying it!

The snow has stopped and warmer days on the way, YAY!!! It's so hard to know how much we got, three foot drifts in some places and none in others. Supposed to be 40 degrees today, should start melting some of this. The winds have been awful, over 50MPH, and blew for two days. Still a little windy this AM I noticed. 75 degrees by Monday, that's more like it. Good Friday is a week from today, with three foot drifts in the garden I doubt I will be planting potatoes!

I saw the first spring ducklings while dog walking along the river this morning - six little ones swimming between mom and dad.
They weren't the usual mallard ducks, either, but were probably Gadwalls (going by photos on the internet).

Upon the recommendation of a friend we're having someone paint a portrait of our dog who passed away. She's been sending me updates from the preliminary sketch and I'm looking forward to see the final portrait. She's the perfect person because she not only loves animals but has rescued many cats and dogs.

I'm going to want to see that Disney nature movie about penguins, and that's one the fiancé will agree to see, so probably that.

I stopped by the new chocolate store today It's a really small nice place. Here's a look at a display:

I bought a small box of Easter-themed chocolates and a bag of caramels

The magnolia tree is almost at full bloom The street side of the tree is in fuller bloom than this side.

The late afternoon sun is shining in on three very happy cats. I dropped by my favorite indy pet supply store to pick up cat litter and was talked into buying these. She said I could bring them back if the cats didn’t like them.

Oh, yeah. They’ve never had fish, so Lily and Iris smelled them for a couple of seconds before eating them. Mocha’s disappeared so fast it was like watching a vacuum cleaner suck up dirt but without the sound. And then they went all Simon’s cat on me.
