Thanks guys! Yes, I am so proud of her, & tell her so. :catlove:
When she does venture out, I say she's going on one of her little "walk about's." :dancingblackcat::lol:
Yes, my parents like her. My dad doesn't understand , asked me why she stays cooped up in the room all day, & I told him how well she's actually doing in a little over a weeks time. That some kitties would still be only under the bed. She's eating, peeing & pooping, & even exploring a tiny bit. That's huge for a kitty in such a short time. It's her safe space for now.
I am so pleasantly surprised. All this from a sassy little girl who HAD to have her time outside before, since she came from the neighborhood we were in. I'm ecstatic she's not crying to go out, or trying to escape!! I never thought this was going to be possible w/her!

It's so weird, in my last post above, I did attach a picture, & saw it once, but don't see it now..... Weird! Don't know if it's the site? Anyone else have this happen? ...Or, my parents internet. They have at&t, & so far...I hate it! I think they have the lowest speed there is! My dad had to even order something special to attach to the side of the tv (they have dish) so I could get my Hulu & Netflix. But....tried it for the first time last night, & it pauses a LOT, wheel spinning saying ....loading. When I had Spectrum, I never had to do anything special. I had internet, & my tv is a smart tv, so it just streamed those things, no problem. Nothing special to do...
SO, I think they need a better speed, whatever the next one up is. I told my dad I would pay the difference for it, because it's diving me CRAZY! The other day when I was loading those pictures of Sammie, what should have taken a few minutes took 35-45 minutes!! :angryfire::frustrated: I have to load pictures from my phone, because I have an old used MacBook Pro a client handed down to me, & my phone is an android, so it's not compatible, It won't work w/ my Usb cord to try to transfer picts from my phone to the Mac. When I do buy another laptop, it won't be an Apple! ......So annoying.
.....Sorry, venting a little here.
So anyway, I'll have to get back on here w/ my phone, & try to post pictures again. She was so cute today. She was up on her "perch" atop the tree & she was dosing w/ her face against the window. :D

.....Ok, NOW I see the picture. After all of that. LOL! It must just be taking forever to fully load on this internet! :rolleyes2:

I'm sorry that you and your little Sammie had to go through this, but so glad she's doing well with the change! Seeing all the work you did on your last place, I'm sure you'll be able to make a beautiful home again. And that jerk of a landlord will never find a tenant who is gonna take care of the place like you did. But at least you're free of him!

Thank you so much! Yes, it's nice to not have the worry of that place & him anymore. Worry that if something went wrong, & I had to call him for something. No one should have that kind of stress from a landlord.
......I mean, slumloard!

Oh, good news I forgot to share last WK.
I got my deposit back!!
I had tried to call him that sat after mom & I finished cleaning over there, but of course the home number I had said it was no longer in service. They must've gotten rid of the landline. So the only number any of us have to call him is the barbershop number.
(I mean God forbid there's a real emergency w/ someone & they can't get ahold of him in a timely matter). So, he finally called me BK on Tues. He said that he really shouldn't give it BK, because of plumbing problems over the yrs. (Well it's an old house anyway!) I made sure I slipped in that I had left it in better condition. Then he said didn't want any problems, I said niether did i, ( he knows he can't get over on me like does other people). He didn't say anything about a walk through first, or anything. Thats because he knows I left it in better condition! Then he said he'd leave the check in his barber shop mailbox, & for me to leave the keys. When I picked it up, he didn't even have it in an envelope! (Stupid old country redneck!) So I took it immediately to the bank, & put it in my savings account! It wasn't very much from 20 yrs ago, a little less than 400.00, but it was nice to finally be able to add to my little savings account.

that's excellent news, that you got your deposit back!!! :yess: many landlords become...creative in finding reasons to not return or not return the full deposit back to tenants that move out. :headshake:

i think you're right, that the internet speed isn't quite what it needs to be in order to stream without frequent 'buffering', aka wheel spinning.

I checked NC's laws to see if angels mommy angels mommy could demand interest, and found things get really, really nasty legally if a landlord doesn't return the deposit in 30 days and there's a pretty good list of wear and tear damages that a landlord cannot deduct from the deposit.

Kelly, I'm sorry that your landlord treated you that way. People can't even be decent anymore. At least you don't have to deal with him ever again. Glad you got your deposit back...We live out in the country and our internet is slow like that too, it buffers so much that it's hard to watch a movie. It's the only internet company in the area too, so we can't switch to anything else.

Thanks guys! Yes, I'm glad I got it back too!
I think after all the improvements/ "home makeovers" I did, he'd have to give it back!

Yes, my parents have DSL... W/ only 1 mg!
So that tells you. Called at& t this morning & they said nothing faster is available in the area. I was like really??!! They are in city limits, not out in the country or anything..
Pretty much 5-10 min.s from everywhere here IN town.... Like I said, at& t sucks.
So... I went to spectrum, talked to the same guy I did when I turned in my equipment.
He said they could get internet, 100 mg dwnld, & 10 upload,/ streaming for 44.99 a month. 5.00 more if we get their router. Only 19.99 more for land line, but they will probably keep what they have, because w/ hurricanes here, they want to have service if power is out. In that case, I can just put the internet in my name & pay the bill myself.
We could also unpack my router & use it, because I'm sure theirs is older than mine, so may be better. So I will be so much happier once that is done. I tried to watch just a 1/2 hr show on Hulu the other night, & it took forever w/ the buffering, & me irritated!
I've got to have my Netflix & Hulu....can't miss an episode of The Handmaidens Tail.
:D

So, I just had to post a little update.
A couple actually. The first one is good & not so sure... Yesterday, I took Sammie out on her harness for the second Sunday in a row. The first was only for about 10 mins. I didn't want to overwhelm her. Today, I took her out, & we walked around the yard a little, by my dad's workshop, & some of my garden my mom replanted for me. Then she layed down by the patio, so I just sat down there too. We ended up being out for almost an hour! I couldn't believe it. It went ok, with the exception of the air conditioner coming on, & scaring hr to death, & she tried to bolt! :eek2:
So I picked her up & held her for a minute, telling her it was ok, walking to another area, & letting her down. When she was ready to come in, & went to the door, we came in & she tried to run to the room. I had to stop her to unhook her. Then she went under the bed for a few, until I brought in dinner. So other than a couple "scares" she seemed to be doing ok. Well....later that night around 11:00, she was laying at the end of the bed, & I thought she was going to throw up a hairball, but she really threw up. ....all down the end if the bed! I had a lot to clean up. I planned on doing laundry today, but not all that! Had to take my bed skirt off too. So that & comforter got washed! Thank goodness most of it was on the old sheet she layed on at the end of the bed.
She had seemed fine. I did go ahead & put a probiotic in her breakfast this morning. I also heard her drinking water about 3xs last night, but didn't ask for food until 5:30 this morning, so I fed her early. .. It could have just been too much for her, & stressed her out, even though she "seemed" fine.
She has also still been venturing out of the room & going on her little "walk abouts."
Earlier last night I couldn't find her, after being gone for a little while, so went looking.
The guest room has a trindal bed, so there's no "under the bed" but I still looked. Well, I laughed so hard. I lifted up the skirt, & there she was on the bottom mattress, under the top one. There was a good few inches safely between. ( because it just slides out) her little face was there peering out. I told her she won that game of hide & seek! Lol!
Then tonight, she was gone for about 10-15 mins, so I went looking & there she was laying on my parents bed, on my dad's side.
It had already been turned down, so she jumped up. I couldn't believe it! I took a picture & showed my dad & he giggled & said they know who likes cats. She came back into our room about 15-20 mins later
.
So she's still making strides after only almost 2 & 1/2 wks. But hard to know what she's ready for too. She has cry/ moaned at the BK door at night when I get up to use the bathroom & she walks around. I just tell her what I always have, no out, it's night, night.
So I thought maybe taking her put would help satisfy that. She has also pawed at the bedroom door at night a few xs now, & I'd let her out, since everyone is sleeping, .....but, she does that, & will wake them up, so I tell her no. I picked her up from in front of the door & put her BK on the bed 3xs last night between 12 & 1:00!
So, dealing with some things, but overall she's doing good.
I wanted to post pictures, but w/ this internet, taked Forever! (Thank God that will be changing this WK!) So I'll post them tomorrow while I'm out! ;)

So Kelly, your former landlord said he didn't have to give you the security deposit back because of plumbing problems? What a jerk! You should have tallied up the money you spent improving/repairing his property. It would've been far more than $400! I'm glad he gave you the deposit back. Now I await The World's Worst Tenants moving into your former apartment, and seeing how much damage they do. Plumbing will be the least of the landlord's problems.

Lol, yep she does. This morning she decided to go get in between /under the trindal bed again, so I decided to let her stay out for the first time, & not be closed in my room until I got home. I let my parents know, so they could keep an eye out & be extra cautious going in & out the door. She was under my bed when my mom got home from some errands, so she closed the door, so she was only in here today w/ door closed for about an HR or two.
Here she is in the trindal bed.

Yes, she's doing pretty well, but I think it's more a trust/ security thing for me. I'd rather be here to supervise, so to speak. Especially this week, weather permitting, we will finally be getting Spectrum internet hooked up. (they have to come run cables. YAAAAY, I'll Finally be able to stream!!). So I want to know she's not out there & someone coming in & out, etc.. or someone coming to the door, & she sneak out. I'd be devastated! She doesn't know the area, & would bolt! She tried to do that when the air conditioner came on in the back yard, & I had her on the harness.
It's also a fine line balance of her getting more freedom, but also not getting overwhelmed as well. I still feel like maybe that's why she threw up all her dinner later Sun. night, after taking her out before dinner. (we were out for about an hour). She hadn't had anything different to eat, etc... but at 11:00 she threw up. Dinner was around 6:00. So thought, maybe it was a bit too much for her. ...?
I'm only gone during the day from about 9:30 to 3:00 at latest. I am usually home around 2:00, since it's just me alone, so I usually can only clean 1 house a day. So it's not like she's in the room for a full day. The door is open for her to come & go as she pleases while I am home, which is most of the time.
You know how hard kitties can be to read, so I'm trying to read her as much as I can, but be a little cautious, just in case. ;)

Hi Kelly

I am sorry to hear about you having to move. Man your landlord doesn't know when he has a good tenant. He would be so lucky to have someone half as good as you. I hope that you find some peace in your new place. Sammie is a beautiful as ever, give her a kiss from me. Hang in there, your amazing attitude is inspirational.
