Another way of putting this is something I've heard on an old favorite radio program: "Change your thinking and you'll change your life." In other words, your perspective is powerful. I definitely agree on the "healthcare"/doctor thing! They are in the business of keeping you sick, pushing the drugs that make their empire the most powerful on earth, and telling you, obliquely or otherwise, that you'd better not build up hope. That's why I will not play their game. Everyone leaves this earth at some time. That "dash" -- the time between coming here and leaving -- is the part WE can and should have something to say about! A good diet and lifestyle, preventive care, and the use of what's between our ears to educate ourselves and make informed choices rather than following the herd off the cliff that is "healthcare" is crucial. It's not easy to do the work. But it's each person's choice. This is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Oh, cmshap I'm so sorry. I don't have any suggestion for e-collar acclimatization, except perhaps if you have Feliway spray, you might try spraying it in his environment, as it helps calm cats in stressful situations. Not at all sure it would help in this one. But it's the only thing that comes to mind. HOPING he has stopped bleeding! and that he will be able to let it alone. Also hoping his care team contacts you quickly with their read on this.
