My children are seven years apart--not by choice--and last summer I found out I was pregnant at 45, despite having multiple surgeries on my uterus and not really having a cycle in about 15 years. (My doctor called my uterus a hell-scape. It is.) It was a huge shock for my husband and me. Obviously, things did not work out, but, considering my history, we did not expect it to.Wow. Just wow. Its probably too much to expect people to keep their opinions to themselves. I actually had a client concieve naturally at 57. She thought she was in menopause but her doctor discovered she was actually pregnant. She had several grandkids at this point. I don't know how her pregnancy turned out. But she's not the oldest to so...zip it people.
When I am out with Hobbit, I am often mistaken as his mother. I correct them. Yesterday, I had to pick up some stuff from an auction and a man helped me put the large boxes in my car. When he saw the car seat, he said, "You're smart for not bringing your little one." I then worked in that my "my" little ones are 28 and 21 and that that little one is my grandson. It does tend to surprise people.
On a completely different note, I have to share this picture of my son's dog, Iris. She is just too adorable! Yesterday was her first day of training. They said she is doing exceptionally well.
