I told my husband if our next is a boy, we could stop there and he comes back with "I was hoping to have a couple of sons," lol, easy for him to say. And we had a hard enough time picking one boy name.Well, I didn't plan to wait 3 years between either. God decided that . What is strange is that youngest was my last good egg. After he was born, I dumped the rest and never had a menstrual cycle after that! I was done with it by 33! Luckily we only wanted 2.
I pointed out we could end up with three girls, and the clock was ticking.
Yeah, and I know people who have been older who have had perfectly healthy children (my best friend was a surprise when her siblings were like 16 and 14), but the risks go up. I'd like to be done before 40, but if I'm not, I don't think I want to go too far into that decade. But there are definitely more people not starting to have kids until their late 30s. My cousin had her first and only at 41. Another friend has 2 older girls (15 and 19) and 2 toddlers. The youngest was born on her 43rd birthday! I can’t imagine that! My FIL was 43 when DH was born. He’s still pretty active in spite of some health challenges. He’s just decades older than my parents! And closer to my grandparents in age I think. I never really considered his age until the last few years though. Probably because he just doesn’t act elderly.
