Cats can be truly amazing.
My dresser is narrow and tall, too tall for the old boys to jump onto. Which means the top has become a repository of stuff we don't want to throw out and we don't have a good place to store. It's piled a couple feet high and there is no surface of the dresser showing. The top edge of the front pieces of wood making the drawers are rounded, so less than a half inch in width. The height of the entire dresser is about armpit high.
I was putting away clothes and had the second to top drawer open and had stepped away from it. Midway walked over and jumped. His front feet never wavered, perfect diving position going in the wrong direction. His back feet hit the edge of the dresser drawer perfectly and pushed off just a tad to land on the top of the dresser. When he landed on top there was a bit of shaking of the entire pile of stuff but nothing got knocked over or off and he seemed sure on his feet.
Wow, the grace involved in that landing and the ability to judge how he would land without ever having been on top before is amazing. Plus the height, considering that he is 14 and pudgy. Guess I don't have to worry about him having arthritis at this moment.
