I believe C cat_dad_dan is in the Netherlands, so no coyotes although there will be foxes. BUT, most modern coops are pretty fox proof. You can get coops that are raised off the ground on legs and have a locking hatch that a fox can't get into. TBH, I'm more worried about the cold getting to him than foxes.
No idea where he lives

Thanks all! There are no predators here, I live in an urban environment. Only the cold might be a problem later on, in winter. Though usually winters are not that cold here. It occasionally goes below zero degrees Celsius (32F), but not often. What I read is that those temperatures are not really a problem for a rooster. He is also adapting, choosing a tree which still has all the leaves. He is a pretty tough guy! 💪 🐓

Below zero!!!!I'm in the tropics - the rooster won't freeze but I'd be frozen solid if dipped down to 60's lol

Down jackets are about the best insulation from the cold one could dorn- MrRooster is well equipped, lol
Happy to know here's no predators around- I've dealt with them a big part of my life at the ranches- such a relief to hear that your animal friends are safe

Big brother and the little sister have been adopted out today. Just Pauli and the two kittens left. I didn't receive any message for Bertus, so it looks like he will stay with me. He really is a personality, very social and not afraid of new people or new situations. He would be the ideal kitten for adopting out though, he would get used to his new home fairly quick I think.

Bertus is top dog

Oh wow- as a pair?
Yes, first they only wanted one, but I actually shared the article with them about taking two and they changed their mind. So that is a good sign, and then I did a videocall and now they have come to my house twice, this time to take the kittens. They are first time cat owners and really prepared everything well and read a lot. I think they are in good hands. :)

Did you by any chance tell them about TCS, for any questions they may have?
I didn't, but good point! I am still in contact with them, they are sending me videos and photos. If something comes up I will let them know!

Meanwhile the boys seem to be doing fine, not missing their siblings.

What gorgeous boys! They have such beautiful copper eyes - rather uncommon in non-pedigree cats.
Thanks! Just Bertus left now and his mother Pauli of course. They seem to be doing ok, though Bertus follows me around everywhere now, even when I go to the toilet.

Bertus still tries to use the milk bar. And succeeds sometimes. ;)

Bertus and Pauli are doing well. Spayed and neutered and both chipped. With Bertus I had to go multiple times to the vet. We did an x-ray and a blood test and a few different specialist looked at the x-rays. Some of them suggested surgery (probably around 10k) and others thought that it was too risky to do surgery. And I agree. He is doing very well now, he plays a lot, runs and fights with his mother and he even can jump now. So we decided that we just let it be and see how it goes.

The next chapter is also coming soon, I have found a new house and we will be moving soon. I have read about moving with cats so it is interesting to see how that goes.

Also I would like to pick up another feral cat. But that is probably stuff for a new topic. ;)

Great to hear from you Cat Daddy Dan- hope your holidays were lovely and Happy New Year to you ,Paulie and Lil Bertus,my he's grown- they are adorable

Congratulations on the new home ,God Bless you & yours in it! Hold on tight to Paulie in a good carrier and tucked away safely in a room with Bertus while moving stuff out and maybe bring them last when there'll be no more moving stuff in to the new location- moves are confusing and stressful on all cats so we must try to make it as easy on them as possible- know thst we are always here to offer suggestions ❤

Another feral,interesting- have anyone in mind or it's something you are considering later on?

Since you are moving soon, let me suggest taking an OLD sheet, and spread it over a favorite napping spot for them. Just before you moved, cut the sheet into squares, about 18" (46-ish cm), and fold the squares, fur side in. Take them with you, and place a few in every room of the new home. THEN release the cats. They will smell themselves everywhere they go, and it will give them "instant" territory. They'll still have to adjust a bit, but familiar scents, especially their own, will make that easier!

Thank you! I will also try to move the furniture exactly as it is here now with their scent on it.

I have been feeding an orange boy from the last place where I live. It is nearby, so I have been going there on weekends (and now in winter during the week as well on especially cold days). He lives outside in a more or less industrial area, he does gets food from a company there, but of course they are not there during the evening and on weekends. He has a very thick winter coat now so he is ok with the freezing temperatures, but I notice he is quite hungry on these winter evenings.

Now that I will be moving to a more permanent place I would like to take him as well. Though it is a challenge, as far as I can tell he has been outside for years, but when I used to live there he would stay in the house with me most of the time. When I sit with him now, he will also sit on my lap and I can pet him. He is still a bit wild though and might hit me or bit me from time to time.

The challenge is how he will react to be confined (maybe for weeks) in a room and if he will be able to live with other cats (Pauli and Bertus).

I would like to pick him up at the same time as I am moving, so all the cats will have a fresh start in the new house.
