Smile post anyone?

It seems that chasing tails has become a popular game here. Bonnie started a new fad.

Half a Bonnie over my back and the other half in my arms! I guess he actually put his best foot backwards?🤔
Bonnie is adorable!

Maria Bayote Maria Bayote A feral Tom brought him and dropped him at me feet late one cold Christmas night. That old Tom saved his life by bringing him here. I have no idea where he came from but no other cats were around outside back then. Quite a gift that Christmas. He is a giant kitten! Lol He still think he is a kitten but he is long past being a little guy. He has never stopped wanting to be held like a tiny one. He looks so very different from the days when he was a kitten. I never imagined he would grow into such a big floof. He was very sick as a young one so I think he deserves to have his kitten days as long as he wants them. As does any kitty!! ;):dancingblackcat:

How sweet, and he is so lucky to have found you.

meantime, look what I just caught outside. Been wanting to get my hands on this little guy for a while now, but his sibling is another story. The other one is so aloof and fast!

here's the new fella. Can anyone suggest names? Not sure of the gender though. I hope it grows also into a floof but nevertheless, its ok.

Oh my! It makes my heart full to come back and read so many wonderful posts! I must be quicker than usual but I will try to respond. Sorry to be so late with replies!
Very happy to see your post. Thanks for taking the time to check in with us, and give us an update, and a smile post. :redheartpump:

The kitties here have songs too. We have a lot of music around here! The vet used to kind of laugh that I hummed or sang each cat’s song during vet visits but now they vet personnel all do it for them! I suspect that other cats that are boarded there get music now too. ;) I have heard singing in the back.
That's so neat that each of the cats have their own song. Sometime you'll have to give us cat names and accompanying song titles.

My immune system has been fighting and it has caused me to need to focus my energy here.
As you should. Sending more healing vibes your way. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Pawpurrs human has had to leave and that has put extra on my plate
Oh no. Does that mean Pawpurr has been left in your capable, but overwhelmed, paws?

along with waiting for each update on my brother. A lack of available supplies has delayed his surgery for now. I am making time to talk to my Dad a lot as my brother rests and waits.
That's horrible that your brother's surgery is delayed due to lack of supplies. It's getting scary how supply issues are affecting all aspects of our lives. Plus the impact it's having on prices. I'm sure everyone is finding their grocery orders costing more these days.

The kitties are all okay though.
That's good. :catlove::coolcat::happycat::dizzycat::climbcat::runningcat::dancingblackcat:

I really was so glad to see everyone still here. All of us at Chez catbird have missed our family at TCS. We hope to be back up to speed soon. Please hang in there with us! I look forward to reading snd seeing all the beautiful photos. :grouphug2:
We've missed you and the clowder too. But know you need to take time to heal yourself. We'll be hanging in here till your next post.

I'd have to get to know him first. Cats will usually let you know their names in time! (T.S.Eliot was right) He is so adorable with his big soulful eyes. So glad he is safe! and hoping his sibling will soon be safe as well.:redheartpump::redheartpump::clap:

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Yes. I have used the unflavored Pedialyte. I usually mixed it with some water too. It was a temporary fix but for an emergency, it got us through. For kittens, in a pinch, there is kitten glop. I first read of that here on the site. I think a member Hissy may have first posted it. @catsknowme probably first told me about it. You can all probably find it via a site search on TCS.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Beautiful piece about the moon! Just lovely! :cloud9:
I agree with the most beautiful cloud being the grey and white one. Or is that a cloud with a silver lining? ;)

Maria Bayote Maria Bayote Patchie is bigger but still that darling sweet one you first shared with us. I know that pinch on the heart well but also, know that this is a life you saved. You gave the best start a kitten could have and then be put on a path to a great new adventure and loving life. Patchie has a story to tell of the first loving human that held out hope in their hand. You are right though. It is the life of a rescuer. My hope for you is that the joy of knowing Patchie is now greatly cherished will help. Such a beautiful one!:hugs::heartshape::clap2: We may not heal but we are given a blessing by what we do. We know we preserved a precious life. They give us a piece of themselves to hold in our hearts as well. That is a great gift.
I see birds in the clouds too! That was my first thought. Then I thought I saw a cat that is bird watching in the third photo. Lol Makes sense to me!

@pearl99 I am so glad you answer the question about the pedialyte!! :clap2::rock: I like the moon poetry too.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 We do know the feeling of having to let go and rehome. It is never easy since a part of us goes with them. At least we know that they do carry some of our love forever. I think that gives them some of our strength.

I do love the plants you showed! My old eyes still recognize leaf shapes and general plant silhouettes. Lol I love the look of Bonsai and the traditions they carry but they are a lot of work. Orchids are soooo much easier. They don’t want pampering. They prefer to be a bit independent. I guess they are the cats of the plant world. Lol
The kitties here have songs too. We have a lot of music around here! The vet used to kind of laugh that I hummed or sang each cat’s song during vet visits but now they vet personnel all do it for them! I suspect that other cats that are boarded there get music now too. ;) I have heard singing in the back.

I love the pictures. Kitties love looking outside from their safe places. Floof Rani! Beautiful floof. King Nicholas was reluctant? Naw. Just star struck by beautiful. Lol
Baby Su!!!! So precious! Tuxies are always so adorable! Expressive.
Thank you for the prayers. Thank you!
Oh! So sorry I have not updated. My immune system has been fighting and it has caused me to need to focus my energy here. Pawpurrs human has had to leave and that has put extra on my plate along with waiting for each update on my brother. A lack of available supplies has delayed his surgery for now. I am making time to talk to my Dad a lot as my brother rests and waits. The kitties are all okay though.

Whenallhellbreakslose Whenallhellbreakslose Thank you about my foot. Working on it.
Love the greeting video! I had not seen that but it is so precious. Sometimes my kitties are mad that I have been gone, sometimes some get nervous and are in their safe spot but most of the time I get greetings. Around here, if you get greeted by everyone…… let’s just say that you better hold on to something or be prepared to sit on the floor. Lolololol BJ is quick to want to stand up against my leg and Bonnie needs to be held. Immediately! Banjo has plenty to say along with Dolly. Kisses usually come quickly from Purry. Many reactions. Smokey used to be the first by the door. Precious rubs all over my legs. It’s nice to be greeted. I have been given a seat for being late though. Lol Muffin.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 The. Loud pictures are gorgeous. You know how much I love looking at the sky snd finding pictures in the clouds! I do see birds and the third photo down…. it looks like a kitty , just right of center, looking to the left. Must be bird watching. Do you think Gypsy saw birds in the clouds too? Lol I love the photo of her. She and I could totally lay there and watch clouds together.
Dolly wants to join her under that red bird tree! Lol He was fixed on that video! Beautiful bush!

rubysmama rubysmama It does look like a Clowder at the door! Lol I smiled at that. I guess viewing from the safety of home is a universal Clowder thing. Pretty shot. :redheartpump:
Thank you for the healing, thoughts and positive vibes! Hmmm, kind of tickles! That’s a good sign! Hi Ruby!!! The Clowder sends purrs! That tickles too! Lol
I had to laugh at the cat with a fish in his IV!!! Like cat TV! After a minute of thinking that, I got a second thought. Is that nutritious? :flail:
Aquarium water? :flail::flail::flail: So finny

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 and @pearl99 You realize that now Banjo will be blaming all card and online purchases on aliens and Mr. Nobody now?!?!?! :flail:

gilmargl gilmargl So you did name her Tiffany! I love that! Such a precious photo of her playing. I know that choosing spaying is tough. Especially when kittens are so precious. I think we all have those feelings. I have just seen so many abandoned, dumped, abused or just unwanted babies that it made it a bit easier to make that decision. Also, I once had an unspayed female develop pyometra. It was before I knew about such things and I nearly lost her. It was terrible and that was another thing that made it a constant for me with all cats after that. I had been told she was spayed but discovered that was untrue. She was an older kitty and strictly indoors ,although why she never got pregnant or tried to get outside to a male, I will never understand. I was just very fortunate that I noticed some signs and that surgery saved her. Spaying young helps to prevent such an awful fate. So, you saved many future problems and possible suffering for her. I hope that eases you a little.
She certainly reacted to being spayed in a positive way! Your description almost makes it seem that she felt better! Appetite and energy? Wow! Hopefully she is calm now and she certainly was happy to be back home! I think her kittens will smell vet on her for the moment and maybe that will give her time to rest. Once rested, if she wants them away, she will swat them. Mom cats usually know how to make babies mind. They may try but if she has a place to retreat to, she will. I always placed a small carrier or box that only held one cat well and moms can basically take up the whole space which prevents interlopers. A small space is easy for mom to guard.
I hope you get some peace and quiet too.
If you are worried about her stitches, take a photo now and every few days for comparisons. That really helps when trying to gauge changes. Chances are, she is okay. TNR programs usually release spays and neuters pretty quickly and they recover without the special care you will give Tiffany. She is a very lucky kitty! As all the others here said, we make the spay decision to improve life and stop suffering.

tabbytom tabbytom I am late for a very important date! Midweek Pawverb! They are definitely a puzzle! I don’t even try to solve that one!:flail:I just enjoy the mystery. That picture reminds me of Banjo. Definitely a puzzle!

I hope I touched in everything. I really was so glad to see everyone still here. All of us at Chez catbird have missed our family at TCS. We hope to be back up to speed soon. Please hang in there with us! I look forward to reading snd seeing all the beautiful photos. :grouphug2:
So glad to see you checking in, Jcatbird Jcatbird ! I know it can't be easy going through everything you're dealing with, especially all at once. That's why I keep my posts to you short. But know my *PRAYERS* and best, best thoughts and love are ongoing! for you, the clowder, and your family. Yes, the supply chain woes and "hyper-inflation" are raining on everyone's parade. We get stories about the hundreds of ships backed up in L.A. Harbor and outwards. It's being blamed mostly, if not completely, on COVID. IDK. I'm just a little peasant these days. So far, thanks god! we have not had any problems with supplies and I do adapt if something is unavailable, just as I do if something I normally buy is too expensive for my budget. I do have a lot of concern for those who are not so fortunate. We all have to adapt and roll with the punches, which isn't always easy. Thinking back to lockdown and standing in the middle of my supermarket holding back tears! because of all the empty shelves and all of us running around so scared to get near each other.
New photo by Jmuhj Acat *Do like Baby Su (and Elvis too!) and get plenty of rest and C.A.T.!*:cloud9::clap::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::cheerleader::goodluck::hangin::bouquet:

Jcatbird Jcatbird It is good to hear from you again. Hope everything gets better day by day. I also hope your brother's surgery doesn't get delayed any further and it will go well when he finally has it. Wishing you and your family all the best. There is a lot of love at Chez Catbird to go around. Your kitties really love you. You are blessed.:catlove:
rubysmama rubysmama Ruby is gorgeous. You are very blessed as well to have her in your life. :happycat:
Maria Bayote Maria Bayote I can't think of any name looking at the kitty. Congrats on getting this kitty in. Why not name him/her after a famous actor or actresse. Like Leonardo or Charlize. Find a name that best matches the kitty's personality. Best of luck. :lovecat::lovecat::lovecat:

We don't really have a Gotcha day for Gypsy it's more like a Gotcha block of months from late Oct 2016 (she had been TNR'ed and at the time I didn't know what the tipped ear meant, I thought she had accidentally gotten it torn off) when we started feeding and interacting with her, to early Jan 2017 when she came home limping and was not allowed to go out by herself anymore. She had started coming in and hanging out when the weather started getting cold and we had been letting her come and go as she pleased til then. We didn't know any better since neither one of us had hardly any interaction with cats. I ran across and joined TCS Oct 216 while researching keeping a cat in the house. In Nov 2016 the vet guessed she was 1 or 2 so she's either 6 or 7 and we three have been together for 5 years.

Maria Bayote Maria Bayote , well...given those eyes, I'd kinda think Isis for a female, Osiris for a male, because

1636873244619.png
Which is, actually, an Eye of Horus, but is generally associated with most of the Egyptian pantheon, and you don't want someone making snarky jokes about the name "Horus." And they would.

Thank you everyone for Ruby's Gotcha Day wishes. :hearthrob:

I had always thought orange cats are all Male.
I'd never heard that until after I'd adopted Ruby, but you are right, most orange cats are male.

Surprisingly, TCS seems to go against the norm, as there are a lot of female orange tabbies whose cat moms/dads post here. :redcat:

Well, Tiffany is recovering in leaps and bounds. One night locked in with her kittens and she's the dutiful mama once more. Not so much baby-bashing as before her op, perhaps because I let her roam the house on her own whenever she likes. She runs up and down the stairs as if nothing has happened. Her eyes are no longer so prominent/bulging (perhaps there's now more flesh covering her bones). She's still a chicken junkie but I'll worry about that when she's put on a bit more weight. She won't leave Mogi, Emily and Katy in peace - they all disappear into boxes, igloos and other hideouts when she's around. It doesn't stop her swiping at them and growling when she discovers them. Woolly Bear, a BLH, just lies on her back when attacked as if to say, "What on earth has got into you?"

There is a plaster over her very small incision. It is slowly peeling away and there doesn't seem to be any reason for concern.

Today a young couple came to look at the kittens. They were interested in the 2 females but decided to take the male as well! On 3rd December, someone from the shelter will take the young cats to their new home. (I don't think I can bear to go with them). They will have been at least 12 weeks with their mama. I will need to get them microchipped and vaccinated before they go. They will be indoor only cats.

Now we will have to look for a suitable new home for Tiffany - she will need to have access to an enclosed garden or at the very least to a large safe balcony. She lashed out at my head today, caught me behind my ear while I was cleaning the litterboxes - so no young children for her. It may not be too easy to find an experienced cat-person, no children, no other cats - except perhaps a BSH who simply ignores her attempts to start a fight.

A cat like Woolly Bear would suit her fine - such an easy-going, uncomplicated ball of fluff, who was once a kitten-making-machine!!

How gorgeous!!!
So it sounds like all is going quite well. Thanking you for letting the family stay together for twelve weeks - best for their health and socialization, but some people don't recognize/respect this. Please keep us in the loop!
