My Feral And Rescued Cats

Major spoiler alert. No bad pictures just very bad news. Sorry guys.
When I was grooming Smokey on Friday, I noticed a lump. I was immediately alarmed. I called the vet and we started treatment in the hopes that it was an abscess. However, I suspected something else. Over the weekend it did seem to get larger and was moist. The vet arranged for me to be there when they opened this morning. We were in right away. After an exam and tests it was determined that Smokey has an aggressive tumor. Mammary tumor. At her age this is a common occurrence. The prognosis is poor so I will be giving Smokey the very best that I can for as long as I can. For now we can expect some very good days. She is not in pain and is still a happy girl. Some magic would be in order about now.

Thank you. While I love all the kitties greatly, Smokey have Sarah comfort each day and when Sarah left, she comforted me. I guess we grieved together so , of course, there is a special bond. I feel a bit of Sarah’s Heart remains with Smokey.

Thank you too. I’m case you missed it, Smokey is about 13 years old now. She came as a youngster rescue but not a tiny kitten. She is a feral from the first colony. She made a great adopting mom when I brought in kittens from the second colony. I was kind of surprised that she took to them so quickly since she never had kittens of her own. I kind of thought she might just swat them away! Lol She made a great mom.

Today was all cats day here. Cats always know when things are going on around them. Not one cat has been in the cat room! They all piled up to stay together as a Clowder. Once again I get to see the amazing support that cats give to each other and to their accepted human. I ended up bringing many of the cages and carriers into the main room for now. We are having a kitty camp out. At one point last night I counted ten kitties on the sofa at once. I suspect more would have piled on but the last one on kept sliding off. Lol
Having the carriers in here has helped. They can all be close.
Of course the therapy support cat is staying on the sofa with Thrasher. Lol
Even Precious has been behaving himself. He hasn’t chased a single cat today!
Maybe later. Lol
Little Whistle has stayed right there all day.
We are wall to wall blankets and carriers but it’s kind of nice to be surrounded with all the kitties. It’s sort of like when I started doing the rescues and had meows everywhere. Each time I walk pass a carrier, a little fur face pops out to give me a rub. Smokey is also enjoying having her carrier next to the sofa.
Oh! Someone else joined us inside for our camp out but I guess it’s more of a “Camp In!” Froggie left us some magic before he went back out.
I’m going to be back off again. Wanda Heart is due for her surgery. I want to get some quality time in there too. She knows! ( how do they always know? Lol) She is a little jumpy and has gotten into the bathroom cabinet.
I am going in with Carl Buddig ham, treats, bacon, chicken or whatever it takes before she has to fast. I just hope I don’t have to join her in the cabinet!

Wanda Heart has left the building! She is at the vet awaiting her Spay. She was very upset. As I sat in the cat with her I managed to calm her down a little.
Once again, asking for good thoughts, vibes, hopes and prayers.
Having her blankie around her seemed to help.
A touch from mom too.
Chin scratches are always comforting.
Her unicorn will be with her for company.

Oh my sweet Wanda Heart! She seems so confused and frightened. She does not know what is happening. She may think she is being abandoned.
Don't worry sweetie, you will be back home with your mom soon and all your kitty brothers and sisters. My sweet Mittens will be watching over you, and make sure you are safe. Shadow is watching you from afar and he protects all kitties, making sure they feel safe and loved. My love and heart is right along side you as well. I am sure that you can feel my love Wanda Heart and your mom as well. You will be just fine and so very happy when you are home again. It won't be long. It may seem like forever, but it won't be long. My sweet Wanda Heart, my love and heart are with you!
Also, truly sorry to see the devastating news about Smokey.
May she have many, many more happy and pain free months ahead.
