I wonder if cat mom's do it to their kit's?   I mean, we all know that cats are aces at making their humans feel guilty (that plaintive meow when we've left the food bowl empty for 5 minutes longer than usual or not stroked their head the second we  came home at the end of a long day), but how to they interact with their kittens?
:lol3: :lol3: :lol3:

I'd love to know the answer to that. How would we ever find out? Yet another case for a true cat - human dictionary

So I have some great Babble, over the weekend we rescued another kitten, a neighbor found him outside.  He's about 4-5 weeks old based on his development, but he's so very tiny from living outside and being skin and bone that we called him Peanut.  Only planning to keep him long enough to get him healthy and old enough to be adopted out.  Right now giving him kitten formula every 4 hours, since the momma to our other kittens decided she didn't like him sharing the dinner table with her babes.

Poor little guy. He's lucky he found his way to you. You're definitely stronger than I am though - I'd never be able to give a kitten up...especially after hand rearing it. Pictures of Peanut please.

Aww, such a shame your momma cat felt she didn;t have enough milk for everyone but no doubt she knows what her babies need and trusts you to care for this new arrival @juliek1975  >  I hope you manage to get this little one fattened up a little and fit to play like kittens should.

Yep, my mother is the queen of it. I don't always give in, but then I feel guilty. :sigh:
If you feel guilty, aren't you by definition already giving in? :lol3:

Family is visiting next month. This time it's my sister doing the guilt tripping. She wants to visit X (6 hours away), and at first she was going on a spiel about how my parents love traveling (I'm pretty sure they're homebodies), and later casually mentioned that her entire plan revolves around being with her boyfriend instead. Called her out on it, and she said "if you don't come with me to X, you're defeating the whole purpose of all of us driving 8 hours to your place."

That's a very hard question! I've noticed so much with my Momma cat Grin and her 2 kitties, I haven't really paid attention if she does it as a "guilt trip" sort of thing.

I hear she calls them, still licks them, she gave them milk as far as last week (they turned 4 months this Monday), she gently slaps them to move them, she used to hug them as babies, I think she sometimes still cleans their bottoms, she's a very loving momma. But... I don't know why she does this! I like to think she just a good momma

Wow, poor Peanut Baby. Thank you for helping him out. I'm sending huge good vibes to you an Peanut! Please do share pictures! We would all love to meet the baby!

If I understood correctly:

Heck no! I would just defend my position! If she wants to visit her boyfriend there's no need to drag the whole family there! If anything, HE should be polite enough to travel to you guys. If she has other plans, so be it. Guilt trip her  instead about how you're parents would feel about the whole thing. And do ask them, they should have a word in this as well

Hmm, @FhiCat, I think your sister has been putting in some good practice on you in preparation for her own family one day.
And if you don't go to X will she be around for the family get together, and if not is that all your fault?   Has she suggested to the rest of your family that they might like to get together at X instead of your place?  Is it a nice place you might all enjoy? If not, then how does she want to persuade everyone?

What a stunner!
How in the world are you going to give him up for adoption? (Not saying you shouldn't, by any means. Just that I'm seduced by one photo...If I met him for real there'd be no hope for me
)
It's going to be tough, but we've already got 4 indoor cats, plus the 6 kittens who will be leaving next week.  Hubby says no keeping anymore cats...lol.

Little Peanut, already puting on some weight in the past few days.
What a cute little baby with his collar on.  He's adorable.  He looks kind of stunned, like "what happened to me?  Suddenly life is is good!"

I'm sure I can see a smile on that little face, and no wonder - he'll never be without food or warmth or shelter again. He must be feeling :9:

Oh god! He's such a cutie! I would just steal him and love him forever! How could anyone put him out like that?

You hit the nail on the head with that one!
He seems to think, "What is this feeling in my belly? Why am not hungry or cold anymore? Will this last forever?"

He seems so happy, I can't look at the pic anymore! I'm at the office and I don't want to cry!

No, don't cry magiksgirl magiksgirl . Focus on how good his life is now, not how bad it was before.

It's 1.30am here. I'm sat in bed on my phone, trying to stay awake. So far it's working, but my brain has slowed right down.

What time is it for everyone else?

Here in Maryland it is 8:33 pm.    I don't know if we're going to make it to 1500 tonight.

Of course she's saying seeing him is not the only reason to go there, and it may be true. The thing is that she's not accepting my disinterest. It's common for her. I'm not even sure if I can even take time off to go to X for a few days. I can take time off to stay where I am and show my parents around, as long as I remain "on call" during work hours.

And if you don't go to X will she be around for the family get together, and if not is that all your fault?

She will be, since she's driving my parents all the way from Y where she lives, 8 hours away. My parents are flying in from Z, 30 hours by plane, to see her in Y first, then they're driving over to my place.

Has she suggested to the rest of your family that they might like to get together at X instead of your place?  Is it a nice place you might all enjoy? If not, then how does she want to persuade everyone?
I suggested that actually. But it's not practical because 30 hours by plane, then 10 hours driving to X, then 5 hours from X to my place. Too much travelling for my poor parents.

It seems to be very stop-start tonight. I'll be mad if I stay up all night and we don't hit 1500 by the time my morning alarm goes off :lol3:
