I'm planning to have steamed cauliflower and broccoli with falafel. Half an avocado sliced up on the side. DH bought a chicken kiev at a new butcher so he's having that for dinner with wild rice, peas & carrots. Honeycrisp apple for dessert.

Lunch was French toast. Dinner will be my infamous chicken strips, mac and cheese, and corn. Now, last night, I had mac and white cheese with bacon. THAT was lovely!

Sauteed sliced onion and mushrooms. Flaked the left over broiled steel head trout fillet. Made 1 cup of Herb-ox bouillion, added to mushrooms, onion, fish. Thickened with corn starch. Cooked farfalle pasta, adding frozen green peas to cook in the last few minutes. Tossed everything together and portioned into heated shallow bowls. Can we call it leftovers? It was good, whatever you call it..

Last night they gave me a plate full of pasta, tomatos, tofu, a veggy hot dog (that I brought down), onions and green peppers. It was very good but I wish they would not give me so much food. A lady at my table said I was being treated special and that it was too much food for one person to eat and I was fat, blah, blah, blah... She kept going on and on about my dinner. I was embaressed so I just got up and left. Another person told me yesterday morning that all I do is eat and that I was too fat. These people only eat a few bites or eat none of their meals, eat dessert and sit there and watch me eat. I need to start fixing my own meals and eat in my room.

muffy muffy Why in the hell don't you tell those witches to mind their own damn business? You pay for your food, just like they do and, if you want to eat this way, it's solely your choice. I realize that you need to get out of your room once in a while, but you do not or should not have to deal with them. I know, I know, you don't want to cause trouble. But you're not the one causing the trouble. They are. And it's None. Of. Their. Business. I'd go out to the dining room. With a book. Sit by myself. And enjoy my meals. Alone. The hell with all of them.

When I was still working, I wouldn't go to any of the lunches. Not for Christmas, not the picnics. Nothing. There were woman (why is it always women?) who would eat just a little bit and then complain that they were "so full". "Oh my god, I'm so bloated!" after eating a piece of lettuce. And then they would sit back and talk about what so-and-so was eating and no wonder, he or she was so heavy. "And didja see, he ate TWO pieces of chicken?!" After the lunches, there was always leftover food, so those women would go back to the cafe and sit and wait for other people to come in to see what was left. And then talk about them eating this or that. I always walked 4 miles over my lunch break, so I had a good excuse not to have to deal with them. But I'd go back after my walk and grab a piece of chicken or a wrap. And they were always in the kitchen, talking about what everybody else ate. And these were always the same women who packed leftover food to take home so they didn't have to cook that night.

Frozen pizza tonight. Wednesdays have turned into pizza night because Rick bowls and it's quick.

I have to agree with Winchester Winchester .
Living in a senior building, I have found the majority of the people-- yes, women, to be catty,. gossips, do not mind their own business.. and just down right nasty!!
It is like reliving kindergarten, or first grade, all over again.. Think about cliques.. think about all the 'gossip' that went around in school. These people are reverting backward. They have nothing else to do but pick people apart. They are sad, lonely people, who cannot find anything positive in their lives.

They do have a dining room, provide delivery service, and have a buffet. When and If I get food, I alway do the buffet.
I prefer not to associate with these 'idiots'.. because that is what they are: People to have no Life of their own, and are consumed to be miserable and make others life miserable..

If I were you, I would just go down there, eat what you like, as much as I like; sit where and with whom you want to, .. and ignore them! It is hard to do, but... Just keep your head high. You have been through so much with the food. It is time for you to get some satisfaction. It comes down to jealousy! If you wish, just tell them to mind their own business, or just smile and tell them how good your food is!! or just Smile... and/or laugh at them..

You really have to think if this is what you want your social experience to be. It does not sound positive.

You also have to remember that these people are really elderly, and are into cognitive decline.... so take what they say with a grain of salt. Yes, it does hurt; but try to ignore them. or ask to be seated elsewhere. I am sure they can accomodate you. After all, you are paying their salary. And Do NOT pay any attention to what the staff says. You do not owe them an explanation.

We're supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow and my head is telling me they're right. :frustrated: I got a migraine this afternoon that did not go away so I had something bland, i.e. garden vegetable soup and I made rotini pasta to add in it. I told DH he's on his own for dinner tonight.

DH is in the mood for pasta so I'm making my favorite brown rice and quinoa fusilli noodles with tomato basil marinara and adding in green onion plus green pepper. Salad on the side and a small baguette. I bought my favorite Endangered Species espresso beans & dark chocolate bar for dessert.
