I'm not sure exactly how old she is, just a general range based on context, but if your husband's not comfortable with a phone yet, I've seen a lot of parents mention the Gizmo watch, and it could be passed down to your son once DD outgrew it.

I still mourn not having my flip phone. it could be slipped into the pocket SO easily! The new iPhones are great but where do you put them!? They are HUGE!!! I am outside most of the time in the summer. I can't just set it somewhere, eventually, the sun or something else will get it, or I'll forget it. The front pocket is out, you can't bend over, which I do a lot, the back pocket is awkward because I sit on it when I take a break. I don't wear a belt, I guess I'll have to look for some kind of clip-on holder and wear it on my side. Sigh........

I had one of those clip-on holsters for my flip phone that I bought at Radio Shack at the same time I bought the phone. I was still using it all the time. I just tossed it as I have no further use for it, so now I'll have to see what is out there for carrying cases.

They do still make flip phones but choice is very limited. I have a nice one my aunty just bought but finding a carrier it works with is the challenge. Android also has those fold phones but pricey. I am still using an IPhone 7, smallest of their phones. I have a hard shell cover on the back and a glass screen protector on the front.

I bet you can find a good clip on case online.

I have an 8. It fits in some pockets better than others. I have the hardest time when we are kayaking because the waterproof/floating case gets annoying strapped around my neck. Cargo style pants and shorts are nice for it. I also have a pair for gardening. But I do often leave it inside when I’m out there. I definitely agree they can be way too big and need smaller alternatives!

I wonder if she would go for that. It's got mixed reviews about durability. She already wears a FitBit. Older kids might recognize it for what it is though. I'll have to look more into them. It's probably something she'll need once a week most of the time. She uses the kids messenger on Facebook a lot. I have her logged in on my phone partly because she uses it sometimes to chat with friends. But it also helps me keep an eye on what shes doing. It probably won't be too long before she does make friends she wants to text and things. :sigh:

I am just so disappointed and annoyed. My son called to say his girlfriend’s ex husband who had their son all week, was diagnosed with COVID and instead of just keeping the son, sent him back to her home. So now my son and her are also potentially exposed, are quarantining and won’t be coming for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Working out my stress by doing some sewing. These are roughly 12 x 16 mats sewn out of my scrap fleece fabric that I am going to donate to our local no kill shelter. They use large dishpans as cats individual territories so they don’t have much bedding room but I think these mats will make them feel cozier. I have enough fabric scraps to make a dozen or so.

Yes, at least a week if no one else comes down with COVID, of course longer if they do get it. All three have had two vaccines but none have had boosters.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear this.... But Christmas is about spending time with family, and love...
It does not matter when it occurs... It is the family and health which count...

((hugs))

That wonderful! I was thinking about your predicament today and worrying that you wouldnt be able to get it hauled out of the parking lot!
Everyone came through in the end. It was a beautiful drive. Her brakes and axle did so well. Even on the less maintained roads with lots of snow. I'm going to go back soon and finish taking pictures of all the things that need to be repaired and make a thorough plan. I'm so excited!

I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER AGAIN IN FEBRUARY! Apparently Spawn 1 told me about this just after I got out of the hospital after the stroke, and it just...disappeared from memory! So, he sent me a Christmas package that included a framed ultrasound of my little Briggs (yes, a boy)! I got to be all excited TWICE. I told him I was so sorry, but he just laughed and said, "Stroke-brain, Mom! NOT a problem!"
