So sorry one slipped out. Keep watch as he may be hiding. I am still hoping that O’Malley will show up again. The one that got out, is that the one that kept O’Malley away, or did that one ever show up again after that? Either way, they lurk somewhere nearby so don’t give up!

No, he is not the one who chased O'Malley away, in fact, he also was chased by that mean tom two months back. Normally I wouldn't be so worried if the animal control guy hadn't told me about the coyote charging the woman and her dog. That coyote spotted her and her dog out in their back yard and actually jumped the fence to get at them. We have never had coyotes around here before and I have noticed a decrease in cats around my area. A lot of time cats will jump down drainage holes on my street and hide out - so hoping that is what they have done. I wish I had left that cat alone over at the parking lot. Even trying to help them we sometimes make things worse- or at least I do.

I hope you are healing, my friend, and thank you for taking such an interest in the cats.

I don't believe it! My angel would never do that. Her paw must have slipped.

I was horse-obsessed as a small girl. Never shared life with one, but had some of the plastic ones. I slept with them, and all the model cars I had, too. *WEIRD kid.

I used to sleep with my hard toys too, so uncomfortable! But I didn't want their feelings to get hurt. Weird kid too.

she learned how to go up the steps, open the door to the screened porch and drink my mothers coffee before sneaking back out.

A horse after my own heart! Did she like dark roast coffee?

I grew up on coffee. I used to get the powdered instant coffee, mix it with sugar in a little cup, and eat it. *VERY weird kid*
And yeah, the cars, dinosaurs, rocks and minerals, insects etc. were all loved by me (although I didn't sleep with the rocks or the insects). The adults used to ask me to tell them what kind each was. They seemed to get a kick out of that.

Yes, when I look at those Bankers I can see a great resemblance to the Spanish wild horses. They are very beautiful. I hope they and the cats there will be valued, respected and protected.

jefferd18 We all run into days where things go wrong with rescues and we question what we do but the thing is, if we don’t try, we totally fail them all. We are not given a crystal ball so we never know the outcome but that is true in anything we attempt. There is a certain amount of ,”taking a chance and hoping for the best”. Since vivid, wildlife has ventured out more. That coyote was probably around before but has become braver with fewer humans out and about. Cats are survivors and that has probably gone to ground. Undercover. Places a coyote cannot get. Look high too. Rooftops are a place I often found missing cats but it’s hard to see them up there. If you are putting food out for the stray, a roof with a climbing tree overhanging it is a good place. Water too. Under, over and inside small but deep places where no predator can reach. The kitties and you remain always in my thoughts, hopes and prayers. Don’t lose hope. I’ll send you some of mine.

M maggiedemi Of course I posted those on purpose! I was sending a rainbow for you to travel across to come and snuggle Lady! That way, Maggie and Demi can travel with you without being held. Lol They can dance along the rainbow too.

As for the pony, Shady, drinking the coffe, it was instant and I think she liked the sugar mother used. She also liked to play tricks on my mom. Mother was a little bit intimidated by her and Shady thought that was amusing. She also liked to chase a local police officer. He was a little scared of horses too. I don’t know why they were intimidated by her. She was not as big as a horse, although a large pony, but as sweet as they come. She had all the local store owners as friends. She would even go inside the local gift shop for treats. She never broke a single thing either! Animals always sense who likes them and who may have reservations. Lol

tarasgirl06 Yoi ate instant coffee and sugar? Lol Ya got me there! I have a friend who does cross country runs with orchids and the trips are a rough and rapid. He keeps coffee beans in his mouth! Yikes! No sugar either.
I hope I didn’t sleep with any bugs! Lol I did sleep with heated rocks in winter for warmth though. My parents friends liked to ask me about reptiles and amphibians. Sea creatures and birds too. I don’t know why that was funny to them but it was. My Dad still talks about me wearing my good clothes to climb trees when I was very little . Also funny! My mom wasn’t amused by that one. Lol She had to do the repairs on torn dresses. She was a very understanding mom though.
I see the resemblance in the Banker horses too. They are amazing! YouTube has video showing that even the colts are good swimmers. The horses have become the focus of a movie. It’s called “Sea Horses”. I watched the trailer and they are gorgeous but not sure I could make it through the movie. May they all be protected along with the kitties. They are much better at survival there than humans.

Coffee bean? Some of us used to chew the coca leaf in high altitudes for strength and endurance. There's nothing "wrong" with it -- it's a very useful plant -- and even here, it was used in OTC medicines and of course, in Coca-Cola which a roomie of my mom's used to drink by the case, probably because for her, it was "the pause that refreshes!" I used to put a small stone in my mouth when I was working outside in the Mojave, because it helps keep the mouth from getting parched.

tarasgirl06 I have seen a survival show on TV that used the cocoa leaves for high altitude sickness. I also remember my Grandmother talking about the previous Coca Cola recipe. I think that it was originally formulated as a medical product. I have heard about using a stone to stave off thirst. Does that stimulate the salivary gland? Nice trick to know!

We have had company today! My brother and nephew came. It was a rare chance to see them. They met the kitties. BJ tried to steal all attention! Lol He even meowed when my brother tried to pet one of his clowder ladies. I’m not sure if BJ wanted all the petting himself or was objecting to some other male petting Kodiak. Our company returns tomorrow. Hopefully more of the kitties will be receptive to visiting them.


Some of the kitties were a little more nervous about large male strangers. Blue, Goldie and Mountain didn’t get enough visit time to get to know them. They were happy when they got their bedtime snuggles though.

It’s always a debate over who get petted first.

It would be nice to have three hands.

Blue tried to keep my hand on him.

Goldie went for the camera. Hey!

Just look at me human!

There has to be a kitty petting routine. One.... two..... three kitties!

Trying to pet two st a time works with some but these kitties are never fooled by that. I got,” the look!.” Lol

Then Blue tried to put my hand on him!

He’s so smart! Love another with a head butt and get between them and the petting hand.

I had to laugh! I know this is blurry but I caught a three kitty loving sandwich! Mountain got love from both sides.

After this group settled in for bed I visited the others but found a little excitement in the cat room.

Following the eye of the cat explained it. We had another visitor. A bug! In this case, a typo of big fits! Lol

Precious was so excited he nearly climbed the walls.

I think I’m going to need a ladder to rescue this one! Hmmmm. I hope it comes down.

Hello Jcatbird and everyone!

I finally caught up! We ended up getting our cable company to fix an issue with our signal and upgraded our modem (ours). The photos don’t lag anymore, yay!

When I was little we lived in Western Asia for a couple of years. My mom had to check my pockets before she’d let me in the house, never knowing if I was trying to bring home a lizard that lost its tail, or polywogs ( I put them in my purse) if I thought a puddle was going to dry up, etc. I learned more about nature and what didn’t need rescuing.

I think I will try the pebble trick myself as I have very dry mouth, tarasgirl06 ! My best friend lives in the Mohave. That was a shock to my system the first time I visited her! I remember the inside of my nose cracking open from the lack of humidity, lol.

I’ve always thought Jeremiah is an especially elegant, very handsome cat. He could be a cat model with his looks! Maybe he’ll strike an elegant pose for you, lol. I love this photo of him. So handsome! Looks kind of like a cougar!

IDK about the hacking problem, Jcatbird , but for a lot of bang for the buck at a (n) (more) affordable price, may I recommend the iPhone SE 2. You might also want to ask daftcat about that, because he got one before I did and he's a tech wiz. The phone has great reviews. It's only my second smartphone and I am always very careful and thorough in reading/researching for something that's so expensive and that I depend on so much for so many things.
