I think the farmer thing is a myth; farmers don't give a rip what time it is. If the cows want to be milked, you don't tell them to wait an hour. Especially farmers back then. No, Daylight Saving is for slaves to the clock who want to catch a glimpse at the sun for a moment after work/school.

The farther North you go, the more sense it makes. But I'm pretty sure we'd adjust if it got cancelled.

My mom just doesn't seem to understand why the boys shouldn't have access to food 24-7 because "out in the wild" they can eat whenever. First of all, cats outside have to work for their food. They are always getting exercise, and unfortunately, they don't always get to eat when they are hungry. The boys, however, have the luxury of just watching us pour food in their bowls without them lifting a finger.

She's been doing better with not giving them dry during the day, but it's almost like she tries making me feel guilty when I don't give them food every second they want it. "They're hungry :((".

IT. IS. OKAY. IF. THEY. ARE. HUNGRY. SOMETIMES.

THEY. EAT. WHEN. BORED.

THEY. ARE. OVERWEIGHT.

And it's not because they eat three wet meals a day. It's due to free-feeding dry. It's also because when my mom gives them dry she fills their bowls up way too much, while I give a very small handful. They LOVE their Vital Essentials freeze-dried mini nibs Entree' (that is a mouth full lol) so they tend to eat a lot in one sitting. They will eat it right after eating a full wet meal.

It's a snack. A treat. NOT A MEAL.

It's okay to give them a little dry as a snack. KEYWORD A "LITTLE".

I really need a job with hours that allows me more control of their diet because I have a headache.
the vet gave me a scoop for the kibble, said this enough 3 times a day for an indoor cat. I hear a lot of complaining but fat Panthera certainly lost quite a bit of weight that way and he was already eating kibble made for "fat cats". So now the complaining has subsided but has not yet stopped, hopefully in time it will. One of my cats eats canned food only but she is old (20!) and really skinny and she eats 1 1/2 big cans every day. I don't know where she puts it all. Needless to say I have to feed all three in different places or they would eat each other's food, lol!

I usually just eye-ball it and put a small handful in the bowls. Sometimes less. It's a snack/treat after all lol But if one doesn't eat their food the other probably will so I get the whole eat each other's food problem lol

Positives: Still patiently waiting to hear back about grad school, but he did e-mail and ask if I was still interested and mentioned I was still being considered, which is a great sign! Also received another interview request for a seasonal job. This one is lizard monitoring for a conservation species.

Iffy: Asked someone who was a classmate, but graduated and still in the area if they would like to go on a hike. She said yes, so I sent her a time and day. She said it was too early and asked if we could plan for a time later in the day, without giving any times. I said yes, and asked what time would be best for her. Her last message was from Sunday night, and mine was from Monday morning. She still has not answered (facebook "says" she saw it) and the hike would be tomorrow that we were trying to plan... Well, if I don't hear from her before going to bed, I'm going to send her a message stating that since she hasn't given a time that would work for her that I'm assuming we are not planning on a hike tomorrow... :dunno: What is it with people that go to my school or in this area and their inability to plan plans?? The universe just keeps telling me to move on. The people you are trying to be friends with are not meant to be.

I hope you find a position you're interested in soon. :heartshape:

I can relate. This is exactly why I prefer to phone people when I want to make plans (especially when). But calling people nowadays is seen as weird and even rude because people figure I shouldn't call because they might be busy... hm. Okay.

I've only made one close friend in my program so far. I've tried joining other cliques but I just do not fit in no matter how hard I try to. Everyone in our program has their little gang so when I try to make friends, it feels like I'm trespassing on private property. I've always been the outcast anyway so this is nothing new.

I really hope she gets back to you, but if not, don't beat yourself up about it.

Let me know if you ever move to the dallas area! I need people to go on hikes with. Anything non alcoholic. Lol.

I made caldo de res (mexican beef soup). Turned out better than last time! I should have added less water at the end, but still not bad. It especially tasted decent today, the 2nd day.

A stranger just approached me while I was out walking my dog. I tried to walk away from him but he kept following me. He kept going on about how beautiful Izellah is. He asked me if he could hold her lead. Obviously I said, "No!" And continued to walk away from him. Izellah started getting upset. She growled and barked at him. Even grabbed after his hands because I guess she realized I was uncomfortable and wanted to protect us.

He asked me my name and where I live. I pointed in a random direction and gave him a fake name. I got my phone ready to call the police because he said, "Let's go..." Then, he saw someone he knew I guess and he ran off to talk to them. He also said, "Don't worry. I'm your big brother. You're my little sister. I will take care of you."

God, I really need to move out of this area. Lots of gang activity and I'm afraid I've been tagged.

This man has mental issues. Be alert for him.

I lived in a gang neighborhood when I was in my 30's (in Phx.) I had to walk 1/2 mile to the bus before the sun was up and came home after it set. Needless to say, I was nervous....at first.
Some of the gang members approached me one morning and told me that I lived in their neighborhood, therefore I was under their protection. After that, a group would walk me to the bus every morning and meet me to walk me home every night. I felt very safe after that.
I never even knew any of their names.

Thank you!

She messaged me late last night and apologized profusely and she felt bad for canceling the night before. She said she did not have enough gas and rescheduled. Guess I'll give her one more chance. Maybe this one will be different...

Thanks for sharing your experience. <3 I get that feeling of weirdness trying to become friends with people who already are close.

I'll let you know! <3 I do not drink at all, so everything I do is non alcoholic, haha. Having hiking buddies is awesome.

Sooooo... my school just had an update about the corona virus and updates to operations. I guess North Carolina has issued a state of emergency. My school is not closing or anything, but they are limiting some things... including closing the wellness center, which houses the school nurse and therapists... Any program with over 20 people scheduled to attend is canceled.

BUT the athletes are still allowed to play games on campus and OFF campus. This does not make sense. Close the services that will help students stay well, especially because there are many who do not have health insurance usable around here, BUT the athletes can play games where they will have PHYSICAL contact with other people...

This angers me, especially because one of my brothers, who deals with institutional research, has mentioned to me sports teams are a huge source of income to colleges and universities... so this is all about money. I don't understand how they can continue the sports teams, but start shutting down other events and services to protect us. Greedy...

Thinking about sending a strongly worded letter and state how continuing the sports games does not make sense when the players will have physical contact with others but other resources that will help students are being shut down... plus ask about health services they can substitute to support students if they are shutting down our resources.

Ha, yeah, one of my co-workers said the high school wrestlers were allowed to wrestle (in which they of course are in VERY close contact, basically hugging for ~10 minutes) but were not allowed to shake hands after the meet. Yeah that makes sense  .

And now only parents and siblings are allowed to come to school sports events. I'm not sure what difference that'll make though.

We decided to buy new tires for our car. We really needed them so we went to WalMart for 4 new tires. Thank God we took Aedan to my grandma. It took 3 hours! My back is killing me now. I can't even imagine how awful it would have been to have a toddler along. They need to properly staff. They told us they only had 2 people working there.

I work at a care facility for people with dementia. We have implemented precautions such as; visitors must be checked and cleared to enter. Activities for groups are postponed until further notice. No outings. Sanitizing everything. Of course I’m worried about covid. The first confirmed case was diagnosed today and we’re not a very big city. My husband has cancer and kidney failure as well as a-fib. I’m hoping and praying it doesn’t end up anywhere near us. My care facility is a graduated community of about 300 residents (20ish acres) so, yeah 😟
