I’m a night person so I am always up anyway. We stay home though. DH usually dozes on the couch and stumbles to bed at 12:01.

We are having appetizers for dinner and I’m going to let my kids stay up unless they can’t handle it and start acting nuts. Then get to bed! Usually I do the Netflix countdown with King Julian. They love that! We don’t have cable but maybe we can watch the ball drop online?

I crocheted a scarf to match a hat I bought years ago. I have a few more that don't have matching scarfs so I bought some yarn at Walmart and I'm going to make them matching scarfs as well. It's pretty comfortable. Kind of rough along the edges but it was my first time making a scarf so it was to be expected.

artiemom artiemom artiemom artiemom Oh sweetie, that sounds so stressful. Have you heard back from the vet yet? Sending you soothing vibes to help get you through. :heartshape:
I have not heard back from the regular vet..that is really strange... It is 3pm no call.. I thought they were closed today? Perhaps they are and the secretary was messed up... weird.....

However, I heard back from the specialist's secretary.. I just love her..

Geoffrey seems better today--wouldn't you know it.. but, he would not play this morning.. spending most of his time under my bedspread..

I changed my bed linens, shook out the bedspread, and threw out the snowman rug he was afraid of.
I did find that it had a weird smell to it.. perhaps?

I did feel a bit better this morning. Weird we both ended up with the same symptoms.. I was worried about something contagious...Cats can get Covid.. so.. I was deeply worried.

The windows were open and the humidity increased a bit to 24%--up from 16%..
I searched and found a very tiny, new humidifier, in my closet.. But i needed something to place it on. I cannot put it directly on my wood furniture, or in the 2 rooms I need it in: Bedroom and living room, because they are carpeted..

So I dug out my old shower chair. I have it sitting in the one corner it can be in.. so that it can provide some humidity to living area, and possibly bedroom.

The humidity is up to 27% since I shut the windows... We are getting some rain tomorrow.

The secretary---who knows so much.. she triages things..
We discussed things, Dr B is not in; She said she can always squeeze Geoffrey in, if needed..
We are thinking it may be because it has been so dry in here. ugh.... I hate humidifiers, but so many people in here have them because of the dryness...

I am going to touch base with her on Monday Morning. Will watch Geoffrey all weekend.
So far I have only heard one sneeze!! Maybe it was a combination of the rug, the new fleece throw I was given as a gift--have to wash it, MicroBan and the dryness in here which created a perfect storm... and the crap on the floor did not help...

Fingers crossed... Now I am back to my regular throw rug, which Geoffrey loves, and the throws which I normally use..

Glad you are feeling a bit better. I've had that worry, too. After Isabelle had went to the vet she seemed more wheezy. I upped her medicine and it helped, but at that time of year her medication is usually reduced, not increased. It took me a while to realize it was just her asthma symptoms and using my fan a few times must have stirred up dust or allergens to exasperate it. But my thinking was the same... did she get covid when she stayed the day at the vet to get checked out??

Well, keep us all updated and hope you have some answers soon! :heartshape:

Not sure respected as much as expected women to serve, to wait on and to clean up after them. Not saying it was right.
I was being sarcastic, hence the quotes. Some people have a rosy idea of the past and like to say that. . .but, uh, no. Men were absolutely NOT more respectful of women in the past. Treated them worse than cattle most of the time.

I think it more likely that you are both reacting to the same environmental issue. And since you both seem to feel better, it may be that cruddy ac, and now the filter has had time to clear things out a bit, and you're both feeling better. At least, I HOPE that is it!

Tonight...it's raining here, and I haven't heard a single firework. I cannot express how relieved Hekitty is about it. But I'm going to reheat some grits casserole (it is thawing now), and crack open a bottle of blackberry Merlot to toast the New Year, and watch a good movie.

Oh, idk then. The ones for pillows are just supposed to be put on a pillow you don't use, so you don't have to take it off. But if it's the one for the comforter I think you're supposed to use it. You were pretty dedicated to keep putting it on and taking it off! I never would have had the patience for that.
A duvet is like a comforter or a very thick quilt, usually one you do not want to wash all the time like a down comforter. But since all those things do get dirty you have a duvet cover that slips on like a pillow case so you can wash that quite often, usually as often as you wash your sheets.
The decorative bedcovers were usually quite heavy, quilted and had matching shams which is another pillow that you don't sleep on with a matching cover, and sometimes throw pillows that complemented the whole thing. Then draped across the bottom of the bed was a throw so if you took a nap on top of all these "bed clothes" you would have something to pull over you against any drafts without having to making up the whole bed. A sham is a pillow cover for a pillow that you don't use to sleep on, for that you would have a regular pillow with a pillow case that matches your sheets. So you would have a set of sheets, bottom, top and pillow case, then a duvet with a duvet cover on top of that; this is what you sleep under. The decorative cover and matching sham are just that: decorative. Hardly anyone does that anymore. I like the look of it but not the work every morning and night.
Duvets were used mainly in the more Northern and Eastern parts of Europe where the winters are quite severe, they were usually down or feathers and much thicker than the duvets used in the US. They had covers that were washed as often as the sheets and there were no top sheets, just the bottom sheets and pillow cases. Then they invaded the US some years back and people started using those instead of layers of blankets and quilts, one down duvet will be equally as warm as several blankets and not have the weight. Now I see that people buy "weighted blankets", who knows why they would want all that weight on them.

Feeling horrible and mean sitting inside a warm dry house while the cats are outside in the snow and ice. Especially Tourmaline although she did survive her first ice storm yesterday. Sometimes I open the window here and freeze so I don't feel so guilty. 😭😿
