tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 That’s infuriating that they reversed the TNR. That happened in another county near me and it caused huge problems. We are all still fighting it. Humans going backwards! I hope the reversal on TNR there , and anywhere else it happens, it re reversed!
I may be trying Petco. I did notify Chewy of finally receiving my order. I’ll go into the details more later. I did not hear from the shelter yet to know whether or not they got the order I placed for them. Tomorrow will be pics of cats and the Chewy order.
PTB? My brain must be malfunctioning. What am I missing there? Sounds like a “need to know” thing.

Furballsmom Furballsmom Can you wait one more day? I have something special I have been working on for tonight. Hopefully it will bring smiles.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 The mutilating of cat bodies is a definite addition to the list. Declawing, docking or any alteration of the natural cat body is horrific. It is mutilation and the declawing leads to serious pain and problems. It should be illegal everywhere. Any pain, suffering or murder to an animal should be.

Ferals of any age are not vermin. Cats and kittens would be sorely missed by the world if we were without them. Besides the beauty and love the provide, they are a vital Part of controlling a part of the environment. Can you imagine how we would be over run with mice and rats without them? Our ancestors understood the value of their skills and they were even kept as an important of the crew on seagoing vessels since Viking days. As tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 mentioned, the Egyptians protected them and they held them in great esteem. Many cultures have shown great respect for them. It’s very telling that any culture now fails to understand. What has happened to us as a breed? Fortunately we still have some cat loving genes to restore the human race.

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Oh my! :flail:Bj will be jealous and so will Lady! I know Lady would love the skirt. We have a ballerina! The mouse hat is one BJ would certainly wear. In fact, that expression is reminiscent of a BJ cattitude. I think some kitties like to dress up! Not all my kitties would enjoy it but I’m showing those photos to Bj and Lady. Of course, they’ll want me to get them more clothes.
Actually, your timing is purrfect. My smiles tonight are all about discovering which kitties like costumes and which don’t! I was a bit surprised by the results in some instances. I think I may have to do this in two parts! Lol It’s a bit more lengthy than my usual long posts! Yikes! Hopefully it’s worth some smiles for everyone. I certainly smiled at your post. Now, I’m going to show BJ and Lady!

Okay everyone! As I have stated before, I never really thought of costumes for my kitties until I saw how much BJ enjoyed wearing my glasses and Lady loved her dress harness. I’m all about entertaining my kitties and doing the things that make them happy and playful. That said... I’ve been working towards using Halloween as an excuse to see what else the kitties might, or might not, like. I showed before that Lady was the only cat who liked the dress. Flowers thought it was a straighjacket and Banjo just waited patiently for me to put it one her. Once I was finished she simply reversed my actions to remove it and try to wipe it from the face of the earth! :flail: I managed to rescue it for the sake of Lady, who loves it.

This may take a bit of extra eye strain for me to post so I may do it in two installments but I was fascinated by the varied reactions of the kitties and the purrsonality of each one shines through very clearly. Each one made me smile by making their opinions very clear! If you ever want to know what your kitty likes, just watch their expressions. Clarity is coming! Lol

Purry! Hey! What is this? Not sure?

Since Kodiak loves her white kitty pillow, I put the mask beside it. She and Whistle decided to take a closer look.

Well, the adventure is done and the kitties all had new experiences. Froggie wasn’t fooled by the bug costume but Banjo has a new toy. The best part of all.... the kitties had fun and they all love me whether I look like a cat or not. Just for the record, that is NOT what I really look like. :flail:
I hope the kitty expressions gave everyone a smile and a treat on this Halloween night.
Everything should be back to normal by morning. Lol Have a great November 1st everyone! :heartshape:New purrs being sent to all.

Ruby! :flail:Were you expecting a play date with Mom? Not so subtle a hint!
I’ve often been amazed at the accumulation of toys here. When I first got the kitty pools the cats gathered their toys in the same way. The pools were floating in toys. Now they seem to prefer lounging in the pools.
I do wish you had gotten a picture! Definitely next time. I know that would have gotten lots of smiles.
Yes, next time I'll take some pics. :camera:

Absolutely agree with you on the cat comments! And I advocate for what was law in ancient Egypt -- capital punishment for anyone harming any cat!
I hate any cruelty towards any animal, but also towards humans as well, so "no" from me on the capital punishment sentence. But people who harm animals absolutely should be held accountable, and given harsher sentences than the typical "slap on the wrist".

Mom told me BJ said costumes were ok so I gave them a try.
Awww... cute. As were all the Chez Catbird costumes. :cutecat:

Have a great November 1st everyone!

Sorry. I use acronyms too much. PTBs=Powers That Be.
Thank you for your good wishes regarding the TNR program. I agree 100% and of course, our species as a whole has a LOT of learning to do before it can even begin to claim to be the superior species (of which there are none, I believe, based on studying a lot of things including spirituality. Each species is created with abilities and though I don't like some species, it is true that all are necessary in some ways to the whole.

...speaking of rescued cats, I just happened to see that the "Aleppo Cat Man" is still doing his amazing work, and his sanctuary was a part of helping an orphaned puppy that was saved by a photographer!

Huge kudos to all of them, and to all of you-all who are involved in doing the same work of saving animals!!

Australia has quite a feral problem. PARTS of Australia have a BAD rodent problem. Why has it not occurred to the PTBs to TNR those cats, and send them to the areas overrun with rodents? That would seem a match made in heaven.

I follow them on my socials and they are incredibly caring people. They also drove out to a wetland area to rescue a big white bird who was injured. The founder is an ambulance driver on his day job. So they are very caring of everyone.

Oh, if it didn't occur to THEM, it certainly occurred to Alley Cat Allies' CEO, Becky Robinson, who actually flew down there to try to convince their implacable, cat-hating leadership to do exactly that. They refused. And now, they are declaring that they will take 2 million innocent feline lives just because they are outdoors.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I should have gotten the PTB. Lol
I actually communicated with Bestfriends lately about a shelter out that way. The one that held that Siamese that was just saved. It was actually a Snow shoe. So beautiful! They have responded to me twice. Thank goodness for groups that are working to save kitties! Have you seen the map of the shelter numbers? I won’t post it here but I encourage everyone to support their local shelters in any way possible. It doesn’t have to be cash. Just a note if encouragement, a text of support or an email stating thanks will help. You can donate old linens, towels, dishes or anything an animal might use. Cleaning supplies help along with any other thing you can give. Have you ever had your kitty refuse a type of cat food? Send it to the shelter! One bag, one can, one box. It all counts. Support of the shelters is what actually keeps more kitties safe! What is something you do that you could skip? A candy bar a day? One cup of coffee? Maybe a dinner out each week? Think how many meals that would equal to a kitten. A candy bar a day is a meal a day. Sometimes when we stop to think about the smallest things, we realize that ,if saved up over time, they can become huge. Many of us can’t skip much but any little thing is worth trying.

Maybe we should have a peanut butter sandwich day! Instead of your regular meal, stick a couple of dollars back and enjoy a lovely sandwich!

About the costumes..... I would never dress a cat that objected. Sometimes a harness is a necessary item but the costumes are something kitties should find fun. Some of mine don’t! Lol They have perfectly beautiful fur so they don’t want it hidden. I really did NOT expect Banjo to find the furry cat mask interesting. She is an inquisitive girl though. She found it a fun toy. Especially the whiskers. Go figure! Lol Most of the kitties watched from the sidelines. I was also surprised that Lady was not interested. Huh! She loves her dress! Maybe if I had offered a feminine outfit......
Oh well. Those who participated had fun. I brought out treats and toys later for the rest so everyone was included in some way. It was quite a pawty! I’m beat though! The mask was not fun to wear. How do kids stand it? Oh yeah, they get free candy. Lol I did enjoy the look of “Ugh Moooom!” from Banjo.
“The look” always gets me. Cats are so smart! That’s my candy!

Furballsmom Furballsmom I’ll have to check out Aleppo Cat Man again. He is an inspiration to us all. More power to him and all he cares for!

Good news!!!!I got photos of two more rescued kittens today. One of them reminds me a lot of our little Wanda Heart. Thank you to their rescuer!!!! Thinking of you tonight!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Unfortunately the issue in Australia has a lot to do with unfounded fears. As we all know, ignorance of the facts can lead to ridiculous fears. There is a positive hope though! There is an International group that is working globally to provide immunizations which should help squash some of those fears and any risks. I researched that some months back for a friend and was pleased to see that global efforts are having positive results. May those continue rapidly!

It would make perfect sense to let the cats help control an infestation. Makes you wonder if the reduction of the cat population there actually contributed to the infestation. Nature is delicately balanced. That’s something we should all recognize and respect. We need more people like those with Aleppo Cat Man.

Back to tarasgrl106 a moment.... Bravo to the attempts in Australia. The fear there is not of the cats( they claim) but of them carrying rabies. In fact, the rabies is primarily a bat issue in most places. You would think that it would be less expensive to immunize than form huge groups to hunt. ( That’s why the global group formed. Immunize!) This isn’t the first time in human history when we saw one creature as a pestilence, removed it and then found ourselves with a much, much worse one. I wonder how they would like an outbreak of fleas attacking the humans after the removal of warm blooded animals? I wonder if that was brought up? It can and has happened before with disastrous results for humans. Several times.
Sometimes we have to point out the negative to reach positive results.

The next post has our nightly cat review!

rubysmama rubysmama I have always loved the Peanuts cartoons. I have an old footlocker from my childhood that has a Snoopy sticker inside the lid. I put it there ...... let’s just say, a very long time ago. It reads, “ A kiss in the nose does much towards turning aside anger!” Yes it does. As a kid I often giggled at the thought of someone being angry with me and what they might do if I quickly kissed them on the nose! Can you imagine being in the checkout and accidently bumping another cart. The person shoots you the look so, kiss on the nose!:flail:If only the world would try it! In spite of having gone into fast forward, I still enjoy the days past. Snoopy is number one doggie to me! Happy November!

dustydiamond1 dustydiamond1 Fantastic! Wowzer! You look great in that costume. Great smile and eyes too. Gypsy too! That must have been an interesting wedding. I bet it was lots of fun. Thanks for the great pictures!

Furballsmom Furballsmom I glad you and Poppy smiled. I hope Poppy is doing well and liked the black cat mask!

I got a text today from the shelter I have worked with to get the TNR here. I sent them a box from Chewy. It did not have a note inside and only one person knew it was supposed to be delivered. I wanted confirmation that it arrived but it was supposed to be anonymous otherwise. The one who did know was not at work when the package arrived but checked in today on their Facebook page. There were pictures of the delivered supplies along with a statement that said,” Thank you to our benefactor. No note was included. Thank you (then it stated my name) if it was you. :dunno: How did they guess? I did not answer the Facebook post but I suppose the cat’s out of the bag. My friend thought it was hilarious that someone there figured it out. Next time I’m going to let Banjo send it and sign it Anon E. Mouse. I bet they won’t guess that! In the past I always sent things from Sarah so I don’t know how they connected this one to me. Cat people are very intuitive. I have to admit though, they made me laugh. I will never admit to them that I sent it though. It’s nice to have good little surprises in life. Besides food, the kitties there got Spring Toys! I hope everyone there gets to laugh and the kitties play. They all deserve it. I just wish I could do more.

Oh boy! Boxes!

BJ! :flail:I suppose I’ll have to find a place that ships cat hats. Dr. Seuss would have loved BJ.

I guess the adventures at Chez Catbird will continue tomorrow. For now, it’s time to distribute some treats.
Have a great night everyone. We send :redheartpump: and:purr:s

Have you ever had your kitty refuse a type of cat food? Send it to the shelter! One bag, one can, one box.
I had a bag of food a while back that didn't agree with Ruby. I took it to my vet and asked them to donate it to someone who cared for cats. I didn't take it to an animal shelter, because I'm pretty sure they wouldn't accept an opened bag of food. I figured my vet knows me, and Ruby, so hopefully they didn't throw it out, and gave it to someone who could use it.

I have always loved the Peanuts cartoons. I have an old footlocker from my childhood that has a Snoopy sticker inside the lid. I put it there ...... let’s just say, a very long time ago. It reads, “ A kiss in the nose does much towards turning aside anger!”
Maybe one of these?
