Unfortunately I had a funeral to attend this afternoon but the positive is that after the service I saw 3 former schoolmates from high school who were also there. I haven't seen them since high school and one recognized me right away. I can't believe it since that was a rather long time ago. ;)

Happy 4th!! We had our fireworks show last night as Wadsworth saves $15,000 if the show is on the 3rd instead of the 4th, plus we get a better show. I can view them from my driveway but Big Cal was petrified so I stayed in and listened to them. The finale sounded amazing! Our local cable channel filmed it so I'll be able to see it. Will watch Boston's on tv tonight.

A beautiful pair of pea doves have picked the evergreen tree in my backyard to be their new nesting spot. I watched them as they walked the ground looking for sticks and twigs. Once the right one was found, they flew back to the tree and added it to the nest.

I'm trying to feed them today. Hoping I can gain their trust. Not even sure how to feed them. They seem like they'd be too heavy for a bird feeder. Wanted to try them with fresh fruit.

The Vincie girl adores her Harvey
Isn't it funny how they pick a favorite? :lovecat3:

Carleton found his stuffed toy that resembles a cherry
A cherry sounds interesting. We have the banana toy. :coolcat:

I had to shave him down
What a cutie.

PIZZA NIGHT!
Love the pizza emoji. :yummy:

Wanted to try them with fresh fruit.
I didn't know birds eat fruit, very interesting.

My positive is I got an Amazon gift card, so I ordered three more hot sauces. Two of them are coming from the UK! Exciting.

We have gone to the same local July 4th festivities every year which starts off with a dog contest that I absolutely love. They award prizes for tallest, smallest, longest tail, shortest tail, best tricks, human/dog look alike, etc. Here is a pic of 2 magnificent Samoyed's that participated and look like bookends.

Beautiful yesterday but hot. By late afternoon the humidity seemed lower so I was able to sit on the deck and finish my book. Nicole sent good food so I had a nice dinner.

That was very thoughtful of her.

There were some fireworks in the neighborhood last night. You'd think that the girls would hide from the noise. Nope. They were both hollering to go out back to the screened in porch. I didn't let them out. They would have been hollering to come back in within minutes. Especially Lilith. :rolleyes2:

Yesterday was very hot and I only let the Vincie girl out for an hour at a time. I squirted her with tepid H2O on the deck then she went and slept underneath Harvey's lowest deck step. She's on concrete and when I pick her up for naps her right side is cool and the left side is as well. The only part of her you can see is her tail, ha!

I was able to finally finish my book :yess:, now its on to the next. Supposed to rain today and the tomatoes need a good soaking.

Here’s a smile!

The Spouse came in from planting some flowers in the back yard and said, “I saw the most interesting creature. It was long and thin like a snake, but it moved in a straight line like a lizard. And it had blue down its back with stripes. What do they call those? Skanks?”

I couldn’t help myself. I just started laughing and couldn’t stop. He started laughing, too. “Um, I think you mean skinks, sweeties. I’d hate to think that we have skanks in the backyard. So embarrassing! And would they expect to be fed? I draw the line at feeding skanks.”

I just got this mental image of sleazy people standing around the back yard watching The Spouse plant flowers.

Anyhoo, I think it was a Western Skink. Cool-looking creatures.

(Perhaps you had to be there... :))

I went to Barnes & Noble to buy a book for a relative and had an unusual but wonderful nature experience. A lady asked me if I like animals - I told her I :redheartpump: animals. She said she was getting out of her car in the parking lot and saw a teeny-tiny baby animal. She went in the store to get a cup to put it in and then didn't know what to do. I looked up the closest wildlife center on my phone and gave her all the info. I also took this pic of what I am pretty sure is a newborn baby squirrel.
