Try feeding mom about a half can of wet food, mix a little water or pedialyte in it, and sprinkle some KMR on the top. Alternatively, mix premixed KMR in wet food. If she is getting cold, see if you can get a heating pad wrapped in a blanket and give her a warmer area to lay down. Be sure she has room to move off the heating pad so she won't get too haot

You could also try feeding just a little KMR to see if she will eat that.
You may want to warm it up just a little bit so she is able to smell the "yummy food" even if she is congested and can't smell the food..

If she is very weak, see if she will lick food off your finger. A few finger-fulls can get her started about the idea of eating.
Given the flavors of food you have you could try the whitefish and tuna flavor.
My cats seem to like that most of the time.

Can you rotate kittens away from Mom if she is still nursing? Set up a box with a heating pad covering about 1/2 of the bottom and put the 4 larger and stronger kittens in there so the littles get a good chance to nurse with mom. That gives mom a break from the 8 kittens all at once. Then, you rotate the bigger kittens back in to mom.
This will give you a good way to be able to check over the kittens and to weigh them. A good kitchen scale will weigh in grams, and have a capacity up to 10 or 11 pounds. I bought mine from Amazon, but I think Walmart has these as well. They might be in the office supplies as postage scales, but will sometimes be in the kitchen supplies area. You place a box on top of the scale, tare (zero) the scale and you get the kitten weight.

Hope this helps
Carol

Thank you getting her to the vet! You can ask if they accept over-the-phone donations, especially PayPal payments. Please keep us posted!!

Prayers and vibes that mama kitty is going to be okay! :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
They accept those payments. I don't know if they'll treat her until I get payment

I'm not sure what he gave her, he's a very old man and it was difficult to understand him. He gave her two shots, one he said was some type of steroid shot. Tomorrow, after her second round of the injections, he'll give me some medicine to take home to give her.

That's great! I'm glad you've got some vet care for her. The next time you go ask him to write down the names of the medication she has been given, if this isn't on the receipt. It's always helpful to know what the cat has had in the past.

How are the kittens doing?
The kittens are good, bunch of sneezing going on though. I'd hate for their URI to develop into pneumonia, so they're going to the vet today, since I found some great help that suggested it. The pneumonia has caused mama cat to dry up, so they're upset about not getting her milk anymore. But they'll get over it.

Lil Dude Lil Dude --How does the GoFundMe work, do they not let you have the money until the goal number of dollars is met?
I had to apply for my first checking account to get the money. My debit card wouldn't arrive until 7-10 days after I applied. I have not gotten it yet. Then, after I get my card, i can put the GoFundMe money on that card, which takes 1-5 days to transfer. So it's just a long wait.

The devil IS in the details. Even though GoFundMe said you could get the money quickly, it did not quite work that way for your situation.

Mama cat has dried up? Are the kittens ok drinking KMR from a dish?
Yeah, I've been feeding them KMR even with her feeding them. So they like the stuff. They still try to eat from mama though, am I not feeding enough or do they just like mama more? Cause the KMR can says there's a limit to like..2 tbs. per day per cat

I think they are comforted by trying to nurse from mama.
I don't think it is possible to overfeed kittens.
You can use KMR straight or mix in some pate food, or just pate mixed with water or pedialyte.
These guys might be a little young for dry food. If they eat it, you should leave that out for them as well.
I stayed busy with 6 healthy kittens. I can't imagine all you need to do with URIs

They will always nurse from momma if they can. For sheer comfort if she hasnt no milk.

If you arent sure she has milk you must give all their need yourself.
You check it by weigting hem: if they add 10+ grammes a day good, if not you give more.

This with max 2 tablespoons a day sounds funny. They probably mean newborn infants who typically needs rougly this amount.

The rule of thumb is 8 ml / 30 grammes a day.

A kitten if say 300 grammes will need 10 x 8 = 80 ml goats milk or kmr a day. As minimum. May be more if it wants.
May be less if it gets some from momma.

The vet says she's completely dry. They have learned to come up and paw at my leg whenever they're hungry. So I'll just feed them whenever they paw.
