I'm really glad it's working well for you. micknsnicks2mom micknsnicks2mom . It really does sound like an interesting appliance.

We stayed in bed this morning until right before 6:00, much to Pepe's dismay. She was really squalling till I finally decided to drag my butt out of bed. Even though I wasn't sleeping (who could sleep with the Amber and Pepe cat-phony going on??), the bed was warm and comfy and neither Rick nor I wanted to leave it. But then The Beast joined the fray with "C'mon! I really do need to pee here!" so we decided that we should put them out of their misery. Rick took The Beast out and I fed everybody. Quiet as a mouse in the house now, other than some soft snoring coming from The Beast. Amazing how that works.

She was glad to be out of the kennel. Rick brought her home around 4:30. No screaming, but she was really excited. She bounded around after the cats a bit, gave me a couple wet licks, and I think the tail wagged for a good hour. Then she started rolling around on the living room floor and snorting and schnuffling. She was glad to be back home. I'm really amazed at the change in her....and it only took two years (and tons of Prozac)! We were going to visit with Rick's mom last night, but decided it wouldn't be fair to bring The Beast home and then turn around and leave her. Tonight is another night.
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, made the bed, and am enjoying my morning coffee
  • Need to feed my sourdough starter, so I'm thinking of making some cinnamon-raisin English muffins with the discarded starter
  • Banking, Lowes (softener salt, blue Christmas tree balls, picture-hanging wire)
  • Rick promised me the Tacky White Tree would go up yesterday, but then that sinus headache kicked in. We're going to put both trees up this afternoon, but will probably not decorate the living room tree until tomorrow afternoon while the football games are on.

yesterday i got involved in 'putting up' some dried food items, so never did get the bread machine bread batches re-pre-measured out for. i'll get that fit in somewhere soon.

today i'll pre-measure out for the Christmas baking coming up soon. that will include several batches of Best Cocoa (/carob) Brownies, which i'll be doing a little altering of the recipe to make (Pepper-) Mint Cocoa (/carob) Brownies. i plan on baking a batch on monday, to test the addition (and amount) of the peppermint extract.

i may work on my budget for a bit today, but we'll see. i do plan on watching a movie or maybe a couple tv shows later.

6:00 again this morning. The cats were not amused.
The Tacky White Tree is up in the kitchen! :yess:
  • Breakfast for the kids, emptied the dishwasher, stripped the bed down and then put new sheets on the bed
  • On my second load of laundry (there are only three loads today)
  • Work on some cookie baking
  • Set up and decorate the living room Christmas tree and that will take most of the afternoon
  • Must take the Tucson to the garage for inspection, oil change, and tire rotation. We're taking it in this afternoon, the work will be done tomorrow, and we can pick it up tomorrow night. I'll just drive Clarence to work (and pray we don't have any snow!)
We have some major moving around to do this morning. I bought a Santa picture yesterday, only to realize that the thing is huge. Well, for us, it's huge. The only place to hang it is where Rick's secretary desk is in the living room. That means the desk has to go back to the bedroom for Christmas. Which means that the cheval mirror that's in the bedroom will have to be moved to the computer room. Then we have to move the recliner over to where the secretary's desk was in the living room to make room for the living room Christmas tree. The Santa picture will go on the wall above the recliner. :rolleyes2: Well, buying that blasted picture seemed like a good idea at the time. I do love Santa pictures. (And we would have had to move the darn recliner anyway.) Our house has become way too small.

You know, I never thought I was superstitious. But I guess I am. I hate to put anything that has snowflakes on it out until we've already had our first snow of the season. I don't know, it seems that, by putting the snowflake tablecloth on the table or snowflake flannel sheets on the bed, I'm saying, "OK, snow!" And then.....poof! Ten inches of the white stuff. But Rick told me this morning that he wants to see the snowflake tablecloth on the kitchen table and there's nothing weird at all about putting the snowflake sheets on the bed. It's Christmas. (I told him we can do it, BUT if it snows, I swear, it's on his head!)

Rick doesn't have to work today; he said he was going to do some leaf-raking and maybe a bit of outside decorating. Right now the only thing outside is our kitty Christmas flag and the red and white scarf around Rupert's (the Gargoyle) neck. Meanwhile, I'm sitting at my desk at work, wishing I was home, too.
  • Breakfast for the kids, 3 miles on the treadmill, made the bed, general straightening-up in the kitchen, grabbed my shower. And I had to go outside to start Clarence to warm him up a bit....I'm used to the Tucson's remote control starter.
  • Must make my grocery list...grocery night tonight...and I didn't have time to do it over the weekend
  • Will have to go down to the garage to pick the Tucson up from inspection. I'm praying it doesn't need much to pass. It needs gas, too.
  • Scoop boxes tonight

today i've got the dishes washed and the litter boxes scooped. later today, my plans include reorganizing two areas, moving more firewood, putting the new tarps over the firewood stacks outdoors, and (hopefully) cleaning the wood stove chimney pipes. i'll also freeze in portions about half of the carob brownies i baked yesterday -- one pan of regular, and a second pan that had peppermint extract added to the batter. btw -- i really like the peppermint variation, tastes just like a york peppermint patty. :yummy: and now i'm thinking of trying a variation that has coconut extract added......maybe end up tasting like a mounds bar!

yesterday morning i got an email from Honeyville, they had a cyber monday sale. so i took a look at what was on sale at 70% (that's 70% of the normal price cost, so 30% off), and they actually had all three items that i had on my upcoming Honeyville order list on sale! i had been thinking i'd wait another 2 or 3 months, in the hopes that they'd send an email with their 15% off (any items) promo code. i've been saving towards that upcoming order for quite a few months now, so it wasn't hard to squeeze the rest of the money out of my budget. the 30% off was much more off than i've ever gotten before, so was very worth placing that order early. i also bought some oxygen absorbers, which they had at over half off the regular price. i bought my bread flour, multi-grain flour, and farina for the (next) year -- plus the oxygen absorbers.

Pooped this morning. 4:45 came way too quickly and I could have stayed in bed for another hour.

Fortunately, the Tucson didn't need anything for inspection, so I lucked out. The inspection, tire rotation and oil change, that was it. I was thankful.
  • Breakfast for the kids, 3.5 miles on the treadmill, (Rick forgot to run the dishwasher last night, so he ran it this morning and I'll empty it when I get home), grabbed my shower, stopped for gas in the Tucson on my way to work this morning
  • Health insurance meeting this afternoon at work
  • Rick is working OT all week, so I'm in Big Charge of walking The Beast and feeding the kids supper
  • Must scoop boxes
I've decided to keep the Kindle Paperwhite. Rick told me to go ahead and keep it since I don't have the Nook anymore (the good news is that his mother loves the Nook; she thinks it's the best thing on earth). I brought the Kindle into work with me and will register it for me and download my books.

  • Breakfast for the kids, 3.5 miles on the treadmill, made the bed, sorted laundry, grabbed my shower
  • Three small loads of laundry tonight
  • Trash night (I'll try to get it done before Rick gets home from work; that way, all he has to do is take the can down to the road. He's really pooped til he gets home at 5:45. I try to have everything done and dinner on the table for him. We'll both be glad when the OT is done; it's ridiculous.)

i've washed the dishes, and scooped the litter boxes (in the late afternoon yesterday). i've kept the wood stove going. later today, i'll re-pre-measure out for those bread machine bread batches (finally). tonight i'll roast one of the spaghetti squash, and mix some spaghetti sauce into it -- will heat it up that way for my dinners, and top with a little grated parmesan cheese.

i'm hoping to watch a tv show or two in the later afternoon.

We are so glad today is Friday! It's been a long week.
  • Breakfast for the kids, made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, general straightening up, and my shower
  • Walking over to the grocery store today during lunch
  • Rick said we need to go to Lowes tonight and he wants a hair trim, while I need to pick up meds at Target
  • Rick's mom just called and said she needs some new library e-books downloaded to the Nook. I don't know that I'll get there tonight, but probably on Saturday.

Decorate the tree, cook a meal for a family whose mother and wife is having surgery today, make some home made piemento cheese. I read a post somewhere where @AbbysMom ate some for breakfast this morning and now I want some too.

Oh wow blueyedgirl5946 blueyedgirl5946 my mother used to make pimento cheese. I have her recipe, but haven't made it a quite a while. It was pretty good stuff. Maybe I need to make some, too! :) It was always a holiday thing for her; I think that was the only time she made it. And she had to make a lot of it because everybody wanted some.

It is good on crackers, bread, celery. I just love it. I love to put just a bit of garlic salt in mine. It is especially good if you make a sandwich and toast it in the frying pan or on a griddle.

Here's Mom's recipe (I don't know where she got it, but she made it for years around the holidays):

MOM’S PIMENTO CHEESE

4 lb. Cheddar cheese
4 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
2 jars pimentos, drained well
2 onions, chopped
Mayonnaise

Grind the cheese in a food grinder. Grind onions, pimentos, and olives and add to cheese. Add eggs. Add enough mayonnaise to make a spreadable consistency. Good with crackers, chips, fresh veggies, etc.

blueyedgirl5946 blueyedgirl5946 , would you mind sharing your recipe so we can compare? I've never tried it in a sandwich!

Pepe started screaming around 4:00, but we just ignored her. We stayed in bed until around 5:00. Rick doesn't have to work today; we both did a happy dance yesterday when he texted me. We have today to hang out and do stuff around the house (and for Rick to watch football).
  • Breakfast for the kids, made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, scooped the boxes. Rick is down for his morning nap (after cleaning up Amber's puke, that is)
  • We're going to look at flooring for the bathroom this morning. We bought our kitchen flooring from a Mennonite flooring business (they have gas lanterns in the store) and we've been well-pleased with the kitchen. Their people installed it, too. We're hoping we can find something. I think we're running over to Home Depot, too.
  • I'm going to work at decorating in the living room this afternoon.
  • I have butter softening in the microwave to make cookie dough tonight. I'd like to spend tomorrow doing some baking. And I need to use my sourdough starter.

today i washed the dishes, scooped the litter boxes, and have kept the wood stove going.

i'll slice the loaf of bread that's baking now in the bread machine, after it cools.

later, this afternoon, i'll finish the work on my budget -- just need to finish subtracting the rest of the 'standard' deductions (after i placed that Honeyville order, i wanted to refigure my 'save for Honeyville bi-annual orders' monthly deduction -- based on the previous years actual purchases total amount, which i did yesterday). i'll likely go ahead and premeasure out the chopped walnuts, for the carob brownies premeasure that i made several days ago.

this evening, i'll prep the cabbage and carrot for making another batch of coleslaw -- using up the last of that mega-sized head of cabbage (i have it stored in a green bag in the fridge, so it's still fine).

Winchester Winchester I actually don't go by a recipe. I grate cheese, add enough drained piemento to suit me. Then I add Kraft mayo. I like to put a dash of garlic salt in it. Then I put some sweet pickle juice, by taste. It always comes out really good. Oh, and I always use sharp cheddar.

I don't use garlic salt, but do use garlic powder. I have some roasted garlic powder on hand and might try a wee bit, just to see. You don't use chopped onion? I'll have to try it. Thanks blueyedgirl5946 blueyedgirl5946 ! (Oh, and only really sharp cheddar here, too. Mom didn't care much about the sharpness, but we love a good sharp cheddar.)
