I don't think I am able to undelete the other pictures?
Yes, it is the standard size. :-D
He looks good to me, a bit on the lean side but nothing to be alarmed about. He looks long, but if that's a standard tile I see he's not as long bodied as I pictured, lol. His coat is such a beautiful shade. I'm glad he's getting back to normal. I'm finding that keeping a daily log is helpful, I'm starting noticing a pattern with my wee one, good and bad. It's helpful in figuring out what the latest routine is. best to you and your handsome boy.
The last picture was before. However, the others are from the weekend, and today.
He's looking good. I know he had been a little picky with his food, but if you can get him to try the high calorie food, & he likes it, then that may help, as suggested.
Glad to see you back!
I think he was a 3 his whole adult life, .
Some of the food my boy is on: All Max Calorie, Royal Canin Recovery rs - iams Veterinary maximum calorie plus and I haven't tried this one yet - ProPlan Veterinary Critical Nutrition
Thank you! Actually, he is not a tall or long cat. He is a medium boy. :-)
His average weight has always been 9.8- 10. Never really changing even by the ounce! That's amazing to weigh in the same every single time every year. Now, he goes every three to six months, because he is older. Up until his illness, that is. Since he became ill his initial weight was down exactly one pound, then dropped, down to 8.3. I am not sure where he is at right now, because my scale shows him at less, but I am just going to wait to see what Friday reveals. I am focusing on How many things he has started doing again. That is helping me wait out the Friday appointment.
Thank you! That's so kind of you.I think Mukkia does look a bit thin in your recent pics, but I don't think I'd change his food as long as he's happy with it. And since he has the vet appt. on Friday, just leave things as they are till then and see what the vet says/suggests.
It could be that he will just stay thin now. My sister's cat is also 14. He is on thyroid medication. He lost a lot of weight before he was diagnosed, then gained it back once he started the medication. He's looking thinner again these days, but the vet says his blood work was fine and that it's just normal for older cats body shape to change and look thinner as they age. So that could be part of what's happening with Mukkia too.
Try not to stress. If he's eating, using the litter box and playing, I'd say that is a sign.
I think if we didn't know he had been sick that his weight would not even be an issue. I wanted to give you a realistic scale to look at not something else to obsess over. You mention that he has plenty energy to play. he looks like he's keeping himself groomed. The picture of him sleeping on the pink towel looks like a relaxed animal that is not in pain. Older animals also take longer to gain. Even though they can lose it at the drop of a hat. Now would be a good time for you and the vet to plan a diet that gives him the needed nutrients/protein level for a long and healthy old age.

Think 2 now?
What do you think?

Yes, I agree
I don't think he is dangerously thin, but the thing that is most encouraging is the fact that he his playing as much as he is
