I wonder if anyone has ever done a study on what the breed, and all those different breeds mixed in one cat, might have to do with the smell? It is like mixing perfume! My beautiful Burt has a two layered soft as bunny fur coat, a round, slightly smashed in face and beautiful big round eyes, and he smells delicious! Like a rain washed early morning. I could smell him for hours every day, and as a matter of fact do as often as I can. Then there is Casper, narrow long face, coarse short hair, blue eyes, and an odor that I have always associated with the Siamese breed, a 'musk' that no one in their right mind would want to imbibe in. AND a personality to match, brash, bold, and always demanding attention to his every need. I was checking him for fleas the other day, touched his stomach, and he was not in the mood to be examined. He latched on and wouldn't let go, bunny kicking with glee, and I was dragging him around the floor saying "OW,OW, PLEASE LET GO!" I shudder to think of sticking my face down there!
We should have the breeders come on and describe what their breed of cat smells like, I wonder if each breed has it's own distinctive smell? I think we have something here, after all it doesn't just include cats, EVERYONE knows what a Basset Hound smells like, ( if not, go out and sniff one!
) breeds of dogs smell different too! Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing cuter then a Basset Hound puppy, and I have shared my home with one or two in my life, but they have a distinct odor that I can pick out in a crowd!
