With heavy heart I have to report that my beloved silver Persian Bebe is no more. I sent her to the Big Sleep this morning after consulting with the vet. She had been losing weight lately and I had noticed she was walking funny, sometimes losing her balance and her legs would splay out. Yesterday she did not eat, not even treats, and she did not eat her breakfast, filled her tummy with water and then peed on me. Off to the vet we went. She had a heart murmur and probably suffered from kidney disease. At her age of 18 she did not have a good quality of life anymore and there was no point in spending all kinds of money just to find out if her life could be extended some more. So I sent her off, holding her to the last moment and beyond. At the front desk a candle was burning with a plaque saying if the candle is burning a pet had just been sent off and for people in the waiting room to speak quietly. Such a nice gesture. Every one of the few people there said they were so sorry for my loss and I don't know any of them.View attachment 252906 View attachment 252911
Rest in Peace, my beloved little girl.

Oh, segelkatt segelkatt , I'm so sorry to hear this. Your heart must be very heavy right now.

Rest in peace, sweet Bebe. Know that you were and still are beloved, and that you made the world a better place during the short time you spent here.
:rbheart: :redtabby: :rbheart:

segelkatt segelkatt , I know you already know this, but now is the time to say it again: Come here whenever you need shoulders to cry on; we have a lot of them. And be sure to do your grief work: Grieving.

:vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :grouphug2: :hugs:

Ran across this yesterday:
Why is Sunspot Solar Observatory closed?

National Solar Observatory in Sunspot, N.M. The facility has been closed since it was evacuated on Sept. 6. (Robert Moore/For The Washington Post)
SUNSPOT, N.M. — At a small solar observatory tucked away in the woods of a national forest here, scientists and other personnel were commanded last week to leave at once. A week later, the facility remains vacant, and no one is willing to say why.
The mysterious and lengthy evacuation, in a state known for secretive military testing and a suspected UFO crash, has spawned a wealth of speculation.
Inquiring minds want to know...

segelkatt segelkatt so very sorry to hear of Miss BeBe passing on. Sending you hugs and hope your memories help sustain you in your time of need.

Sorry I have been absent. With all that went on Thursday night with the gas fires, I was working on research to find out exactly what happened. And I can only hope criminal charges are made against whoever increased this pressure which caused all kinds of problems. And then following some of my cat rescue folks in NC. This week seemed to cause all kinds of problems for many folks.

Last week the big wigs said they want to cut 20% of overhead (payroll):rolleyes3: Not try to cut all management they stacked on top of each other. So for now it's a waiting game for my coworkers to find out when they are done.

@segalkatt, I am so very, very sorry. My heart with yours.

I am going home. There was no damage at our complex, other than limbs down, although there was some minor flooding further back (the property slopes down at the back). I should be home and things back to normal either Tuesday or Wednesday, so I'll be here as usual by Thursday. All of the many, many prayers and good wishes are so deeply appreciated by ALL of us affected by Florence.

Just saw this, but it's still weird that they made everyone just up and leave.
