@maggiedemi - Don't forget the annual Antique Boat gathering at Clayton.

I've been eating River Rat cheeses for ages, and their quality is second to none for aged Cheddar - dry as the Magical Toast Of @KarenKat and sharper than Marilyn Mach.

@Shane Kent - There are so many beautiful cats on TCS that it would have to be "500CatsOverTheLine.

@Jcatbird - My dear Friend Shane's right about Ontario - and both of us have paddled across some pretty "scenic" water, including Lake Kioshkokwi, James Bay and Hudson Bay, but even as stupid kids, neither of us would have crossed Lake Ontario. I'll paddle it from here up to Youngstown now and again on a windless Summer day, but never more than a few hundred feet from the south shore, and I'll bet that Shane will say the same thing - that he keeps the shoreline assiduously in sight on Ontario or any of the Great Lakes. She's beautiful, but she's still 53 miles by 193 miles at her shortest crossings, and over eight hundred feet deep. When the west wind comes up out in the shipping lanes, she doesn't care if your vessel is three meters or three hundred meters; fifty pounds or fifty thousand tons. She's taken more merchant vessels than any other lake in the world, save Lake Superior - and only a fool would paddle a canoe on Otchipwe-Kitchi-Gami.

@Furballsmom - If you like truly mellow, sharp aged Cheddar that won't break the bank, they're well worth the postage cost. Their eight year old and twelve year old are almost always available for shipping during the cool weather months, in blocks up to five pounds, and now and then the fourteen, fifteen or twenty-year old is offered as a very limited run. Grate an ounce (it's as dry as Pecorino Romano) for the center, between two burger patties, and add a generous slab to the top once you've flipped it, and it's as good as Life gets.

    ;)

    Geez that DOES sound good!!

Here is the lovely splurge of flowers from this morning - I don't know what these are called, if anyone does I'd love to know. The petals are somewhat crepey, and are pink, reddish or orange... it just made my day to see them pop like that ;)

Love the “life size” kitties! I think they speak for themselves, backdrop or not. After all, what can compare to a real life kitty? So cool!

The flowers are so pretty. Very neat that they popped open when you weren’t looking. Putting on a show for you!

My pawsitive news for today, (or should I say tonight), is that it's 10:45 pm CST and I'm still awake, lol. Both of my daughters phoned at the same time and want me to visit, one on the East coast and the other on the West coast. I'll have to check with Carleton to see how he feels about me going on vacation. :coolcat:

@kat0121 , this is such a beautiful photo of your kitty.

@foxxycat , your trip to beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee is what brings me to my paw-sitive post. My first vacation, my parents took us on an overnight trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We stopped and took a boat ride on Lake Winnipesaukee and I did not know what a souvenir was. To the delight of my sister and I, we each could pick out one of these souvenirs in a gift shop we stopped in. I'll never forget the wonderful wallet I chose with an emblem of the Lake on it and my sister chose toy binoculars (although she and I thought both the wallet and the binoculars were the real thing). We then traveled further north and saw New Hampshire's breathtaking scenery, even climbing Mount Washington by car. These are very fond memories I have of a first vacation.

Wishing a good day and thank you all for the paw-sitive posts!

This is incredibly positive, @3str is a terrific, strong, dedicated person who never gave up even when things seemed bleak and hopeless. The three kittens in this situation aren't all quite out of trouble yet but due to perseverance through challenging circumstances, will now be getting good nourishment.
I'm so thrilled and happy and delighted and I just had to come here, to this super positive thread, and tell everyone about it because I simply cannot contain my joy and continued hope about these kittens and their caretaker!!

A wonderful day outside! Took my lunchtime bike ride FINALLY! it's been 10 days since I have last ridden. I missed out on photos of those tea roses that grow wild in the forest-kept saying I would do it tomorrow...and now they are gone by. I did notice those new England Asters are open if that's the correct name. Last year they didn't open until September but that's because we had the drought. This year it's getting scary if we don't have some rain soon. Maine gets plenty of rain but our area is just zip.

A pawsitive thing was last night we went back to the lake but a thunder storm was starting to roll in but we went anyways. Took some sunflower seeds for the ducks-I asked at tractor supply-they can have nuts just like birds is what I was told. We were hoping to see the fuzzy little babies but nope all we saw were crows and seagulls fighting over scraps of food. I tossed a handful of seeds at them and made sure each group got some. I prefer it at the end of the day-and my anxiety is much better..strangers scare the bejesus out of me..so I like going where there are not overwhelming people and all that jazz.

Tonight pumps gets her yearly exam at the country vet near us-she's supposed to get another laser therapy tomorrow night but I may cancel it as she hides now when I come home. I knew I would only get a handful of sessions in-so need some vibes that she doesn't hide tonight-it's at 5:30. I think she will be fine-since the laser therapy she seems to walk better but I cringe at the price..pred is so much cheaper but maybe a combo will help.

Another pawsitive thing was on the way to the lake someone had a ton of stuff marked "free!" and there were puzzles! At the rate that I am going-we will run out of the fun puzzles by next month-I have some I don't like but figured they are better than nothing. So we scored puzzles and teased the seagulls at the lake.

Right now we are putting together a Norman Rockwell puzzle or Jon is-he's had more time to work on it than I did. I don't know why I find puzzles so much fun! The sun is out so hope everyone gets a few breathes of fresh air before sunset today!

    Hi everyone!
Another kitty I'd mentioned briefly a couple of weeks ago is the neighbor/coworker's baby. That little sweetheart was knocking on the rainbow bridge, but with better food and vet care, he's becoming a gradually healthier little barnacle and won't leave his daddy's side
    Here are a couple more pictures from this morning;

Jcatbird--- I read your post in another thread about the Chincoteague Ponies. If you would tell us more about them, that would definitely be a positive for me.
Foxxy--- Your post reminded me how I loved feeding the seagulls as a kid at the St. Lawrence Seaway/Eisenhower Lock. We used to bring bread and break it up for them.
So that's my positive for today, I thought my childhood was mostly crappy, but you guys keep reminding me of the happy times. Another happy memory is feeding the animals through the car window at Parc Safari.

    Where my cats are
Am I the only one who absolutely loves the smell of new books? :cloud9: Especially textbooks!! I've been slowly ordering my kids books for next year as each publisher has a sale or I find a deal on Ebay. Today's shipment was my DD's history books and the teacher manuals. :cloud9: DD and I were both sniffing. Or is it technically huffing? Lets hope shes so excited about it when school starts in a little over a month. I have till then to pick out DS's math, DD's Language Arts and order everything.

Noodles has already claimed the box as her new bed. She's in kitty Heaven. :lovecat:

My kids were at a day camp today so I went to Target ALONE. :yess: I scored several organizers for our little classroom. Then I went through the toy department and scored quite a few toys for Christmas for at least 50% off each. I keep a tote in our garage for things like this. I'm at least 1/3 done with their Christmas shopping now. :yess:

And the best news is I get to go back to Target soon because they were out of my deodorant that I went in there for in the first place. :p

Oh I also managed a nap with Mooch since there were no kids here. ;)

@foxxycat - We're getting pretty dry here as well. The forecast now calls for rain three out of seven days; I'd be happy with one all-day soaker and an I.O.U. On the other hand - thanks to the warm, wet Spring - the Blueberry bushes have now put more than eighteen pounds of berries into the deep freeze, with more to come.

It was a beautiful day here as well, and a fine day for a long ride in the country to meet an old client-turned-Friend - including pancakes and bacon for lunch, served home-made maple syrup and fresh local strawberries!

My cute little Seal cat sat on my lap for the first time today. I picked him up and put him in my lap, which I've done before. In the past, he's gotten down right away. But this time he stayed for a few minutes!

I think that I have gotten closer to him while I have been treating his eye for an infection. He resisted treatment for 3 days. It is almost impossible to get the ointment in the eye of a wiggling cat who will not open his eye! I had to hold him down, almost sitting on him! Still, I got most of the ointment on his eyelid. But now he will keep his eye open while I apply the ointment! He is an ex-feral and he is still learning to trust, but I feel we have taken a big step!

I haven't posted in this thread for a while. We're having a very wet July in Japan. I guess some of you will have seen the news about all the floods and mudslides. Luckily it hasn't been quite that bad here, but I'd be very happy to see the sun again.

Here's something positive though. Two film clips Mr Husband made on a recent climbing trip.

The first one was filmed at the base camp of the Hodaka mountain range.

This second clip was filmed at sunrise at the peak. They had to start climbing at 3 am to reach the summit by sunrise.

I didn't go with them. I don't get out of bed at 3 am unless the house is on fire.

@Norachan - I would say those videos are Breathtakingly Pawsitive. Like something out of a nature movie.

It is a beautiful week in Ottawa. I thought I was going to have to redo a bunch of security paper work as my boss got a nasty email. Thankfully we got a "Oops, sorry we deleted your stuff by accident." Followed by "We put it back." Hooray I don't have to redo it:)

Have a great day everyone, little furry friends included:)

I'm not affiliated with this web site, but I think it is a pawsitive that there are many sites on the web where you can get puzzles of your own made!
Photo Puzzles, Custom Puzzles & Personalized Puzzles | Shutterfly

@foxxycat - you could use some of your close-up photos of your cats' fur when they are sleeping side-by-side, and make it a really hard puzzle with 1014 pieces! The coloring of your cats is so marvelous.

Have a good day, everyone! :sunshine: It's starting to get hot where I live now, so I'll be reading this thread often to stay positive! I hate summer :disappointed: Too hot!

I had a wonderfully pawsitive day yesterday. I presented at a conference at a beautiful setting, Blue Hill at Stone Barns. It is a location I think all of you would love. A very elegant farm-to-table restaurant on a farm, I witnessed several (I guess) sous chefs picking greens for use in that day's meals. The food was divine! Here are some photos. @MoochNNoodles , I used to adore the smell of brand new textbooks when I was in school! It sounds like you have a nice head start on getting the books you need.:read: :)

@Norachan , thank you for the awesome videos, I can't imagine being there in such a beautiful and peaceful place in Nature!

I have many paw-sitives in that today is an entire day off for me and the sky and air is just perfect here, sunny and bright! I am always glad to have my coffee with Speedy and we both watch for the many varieties of birds coming to our little feeder.

Have a good day, all! :daisy: :purplebutterfly:
