John and I were sitting on the couch together watching a movie. Mickey climbed up on his lap. Mickey has always been more his cat - he remembers who picked him up off the streets - but he's still affectionate toward me. Well, John said something about Mickey being his buddy and Mickey reached out his paw and hooked it around my arm, like he was saying, "I'm your buddy, too, mom." It was so cute.
I'm really glad I have a cat like Little Boy. Sure, I call him a big fat blob when he walks across me in the middle of the night, but he is the best baby-sitter ever.
This afternoon the kittens were jumping all over him, pouncing on his tail and climbing up his back. He just sat there and patiently let them get one with it. He let out a little "Mroow!" when they nipped him too hard, but that was all.
When it comes to socialising kittens he's worth his weight in gold. All 18lbs of him......

An early Christmas present arrived in the mail today: a small handmade cloth bag with a drawstring and cat design. It's perfect for the dog (and cat) treats and plastic "poop bags" I keep stuffed in my coat pockets.

- Awww... Little Boy must be a treasure, but the kitten right behind him - be careful of him - there's a shark on his back, and he seems to be dribbling a basketball!
I didn't even know that sharks played basketball!
Edit: NoraChan - Never mind. It's clear now that this is a soccer ball and not a basketball. Nothing to worry about then; carry on.

A little over a year ago Jasmine came down with a mystery illness. Tests showed nothing conclusive, vets were stumped. She wasn't eating or drinking. Constantly drooling and dry heaving. Obviously in pain. The original vets office recommended euthanasia. In desperation I tried one more vet. She wasn't sure what was causing the problem either, but was willing to try and help. After weeks of medication and force feeding Jasmine slowly began to eat on her own a few days before Thanksgiving. We had sooo much to be grateful for!
So now it has been a year. Jasmine is healthy and happy. I am thankful and grateful for ALL of our babies and to Dr. Gail Perfect for working so hard to save Jasmine.

Happy Thanksgiving. I'm just chilling with the cats and my kindle. John is getting a nap in before work and Aislyn is spending the day with her great aunt and grandma. We're having our dinner tomorrow before John goes to work.

I got all of DD's Christmas gifts bought!
She sent me her Amazon wish list. It was a bunch of books - all Princess Diaries (who knew there were SO many of them?) and a new gaming keyboard. I found it at Dell.com for the same price as Amazon and Ebates had a 10% cash back deal so I got $12.10 back!
I also found some stuff for her on Ebay. As soon as I saw this ornament, I had to get it for her. Where did they find a picture of our Sophie to use as the model? (here maybe!
) She's planning on moving out of state in July so this will be good for her to bring with her.

It takes a lot of patience to keep up with energetic kittens!Today it was chilly but sunny so I bundled Speedy up in her new pet stroller (yes, I just bought her an inexpensive pet stroller - the wheels wobble a little, but it will be good enough for us) and we went for a short walk. She surprises me that she sits quietly in the stroller, craning her neck and looking around as I push, I thought she would be scared. She looked very happy. Now I can dream all the long, cold, snowy winter about the many nice walks we will have when Spring comes around again. I would like to take her in the stroller to visit where my parents' cemetery is, it is nice and flat there, it would mean a lot to me to visit with her.
That would be a nice thing to do, R raysmyheart . Hope you get to do that.

I think that Carleton could call dibs on a seat at pretty much anyone's table here. He can eat with us anytime. He is so handsome!! He and my Sophie would make quite the striking pair. Paul, a 1-year-old black DMH that's been hiding in a cat tree since being surrendered to the shelter a month ago, sauntered out this morning and came up to me for scritches! That really cheered me up. We've been very worried about him.
