Bobcat. He's was 30lbs about a month ago, but, he seems to go through eating stages (so to speak). For awhile he was eating 3/4lb in the morning and 3/4lb in the evening. Then that gradually tapered off to 1/4lb in the morning and 1/4th in the evenings.
He has done that same thing in the past though...lots to very little. BUT, THIS time we decided to blame it on feeding him outside in the morning. We would get home in the evening and every day there would more food still in his bowl. WITH flies, fly eggs, and a few yellow jackets feasting on what he wouldn't eat.
We decided that he probably ate a little bit 1st thing, then went back for more later and inhaled a yellow jacket. AND/OR it was too nasty for him. (for a bobcat, he's pretty darn finicky). If something upsets his stomach one day, he won't eat the same thing ever again.
Anyway, now he's to one meal a day in the evenings. 1lb and I have a clean bowl every morning.
North American bobcat, but...he's a "southern" bobcat. More lanky than his "northern" cousins. Shorter hair as well.
He's 30lbs and darn near has an anorexic appearance in the summer and his fur is short and tan colored.
As of right now (September) the yellowish/tan is disappearing and he's getting NOTICEABLY grayer color, and his fur is getting longer...making him look chunky again.
They probably bring him back within an hour or two!He is absolutely stunning!
Ive never seen any domesticated cat like him in Canada.
Sadly if he was let outside alone here, he would likely be stolen very quickly.

If anybody ever wanted to know what it's like having a pet bobcat.
You are spot on. The difference is amazing. Have you ever posted the story of how you two found each other? And please Don't stop posting pictures!Okay, last one and I'll stop. These two pictures were taken the same day, just a few minutes apart. I think it's funny that in the 1st picture he looks like a kitten, while in the 2nd picture he almost looks like a panther. LOL

Those pics were taken just a few minutes apart. It's crazy how sometimes he looks just like a kitten, and other times, like a much bigger cat than he really is.You are spot on. Same thing happens with Oliver. In some pics his head looks like a basketball and in others he looks 'normal.'Those pics were taken just a few minutes apart. It's crazy how sometimes he looks just like a kitten, and other times, like a much bigger cat than he really is.
Im sorry, I cant give up Arnold and Greg. I have never had such a loving and affectionate cat as Arnold. Greg makes me laugh so hard with his antics that my face hurts. As for bobcat...........I wont go near him and will only admire from afar.Purr-fect Surely you must be fed up of Greg and Arnold by now so please send to me ASAP. Oliver and Chubchub love them. While you're at it, please collect basscat 's Bobcat and send also cos there aint no bobcats here. As an incentive, you'll probably get a discount for multiple packages. Thank you and I shall wait by the door for the courier to arrive.
Come see him and we can change your mind. He LOVES company/visitors more than us!! (probably because visitors don't make him do stuff, don't take him to mean ole vet, don't make him go outside, etc).As for bobcat...........I wont go near him and will only admire from afar..
So a Bob can purr. I've always wondered where the change happened. I know some say they can and others say they can't. (bigger cats, that is). Wasn't sure of a bobcat.Come see him and we can change your mind. He LOVES company/visitors more than us!! It's true though. If you came in the house you would have a bobcat in your lap the split second you sat down. Nose to nose checking you out, deafeningly loud purring, and then he'd start wallowing all over you.
I can't purraise that cos I'm sulking now.Im sorry, I cant give up Arnold and Greg. I have never had such a loving and affectionate cat as Arnold. Greg makes me laugh so hard with his antics that my face hurts. As for bobcat...........I wont go near him and will only admire from afar.
I literally cant wait to get home after work to see my boys.
OMG YEAH!!!! We almost name him Perkins (Perkins Co makes diesel engines). And that was when he was a kitten. It's LOTS louder now.So a Bob can purr. I've always wondered where the change happened. I know some say they can and others say they can't. (bigger cats, that is). Wasn't sure of a bobcat.
Good information to know. No idea why, but it's good to know.
How funny. Neither can Onsa. She just walks around behind you squeaking. He tries to meow, but, just a little squeak comes out. He just can't meow.
Can you post some video?OMG YEAH!!!! We almost name him Perkins (Perkins Co makes diesel engines). And that was when he was a kitten. It's LOTS louder now.
He acts a whole lot like an excited Labrador Puppy most of the time. But, he has selective hearing and is stubborn like a cat.
He will run circles around you as you walk through the house...just waiting until you sit down so he can get in your lap. That little tail will be going 100mph.
He purrs most all the time.
He barks every now and then (WOOF! like a puppy
He churdles when he's excited. (word I made up, that pretty much sums up that noise)
He whimpers, whines, squeaks, squawks, when he wants attention (anytime you leave him alone, or get out of his sight, and he knows you are still nearby).
He tries to meow, but, just a little squeak comes out. He just can't meow.
