Now, I'm not sure how to tell if this is a foe pregnancy or a real one but I need help either way. One of the cats under my care has accidentally gotten pregnant. Not gonna go about how, as thats not important to the point.

I need help as I'm not experienced with this kinda thing. I need to know what I'm supposed to do so anyone with any breeding experience to offer me some advice would be helpful. Shes at least 4 - 5 weeks pregnant if it is a real one.

I'm NOT aborting it, so please don't offer that as advice, it will not even be considered and you will be wasting your time. If I even see this suggestion, as I have clearly stated I won't do it already, your comment will be flagged.

Now I have a few questions because she did seem like she got bigger but then looked a bit smaller the other day so unno if thats normal for their weight to go up and down in the first four to five weeks. Shes not HUGE yet, nor do I know how many weeks in to expect that so... I'll post up my questions...

    ----------------------------------------------------

    - How many weeks total would she be pregnant for if this is real?
    - How many weeks in before she starts to REALLY show?
    - Is there a specific way that you need to pick up a pregnant cat?
    - I picked her up by her chest and underbelly around the first three weeks. Would that hurt the kittens? I didn't do it to lift her normally, I was trying to keep her in the safe from and she tried to slip out.
    - Is there anything I need to look out for in regard to if she were to lose the kittens?
    - Is there anything to look out for in the matter of complications in general?
    - Do I need to provide her with anything?
    - Is there a certain amount I need to feed her?
    - Do I need to do anything for her when shes giving birth?
    - Once they're born, do I need to do anything to help?
    - Is a cat shredding paper suddenly normal when they become pregnant? She started doing that but wasn't doing it before.
    - How much should I charge thats a reasonable price for the kittens without it being too much or too little? I know a woman who charged $75 for her puppies but unno how much kittens should be.
    - How warm should the room be kept for her? I bought a portable heater to help keep her warm and for the sake of the kittens.
    - Will I need a heating pad as well as the mini heater for the kittens?
    - Do I need to feed her a special diet once shes nursing?

I can probably think of more questions but these are the ones I have right now... if you have any other words of advice outside these, I would be happy to hear them. I'm really, really scared and have no one here I can rely on to help me with this, so I'm alone in all this.

Feed her more now, including kitten food, as much as she will eat.

I think you'll also want a heating pad (set it on low and have a couple towels to put over it so the heat is super gentle), and try to avoid picking her up - when you do try and support all of her :)

These may be of help; let us know if there's questions you have that isn't covered...hang in there!

Shes become more affectionate than she already was with me, but with her cat buddy, shes become more distant. She hisses at him and smacks him on the head if he tries to touch her. Before they mated--and even when she wasn't in heat--the two used to play together. They were best friends. He doesn't hate her for her attitude now, hes still just as concerned for her and loving toward her as he was before. She doesn't outright charge him if hes in there, she just prefers he not get too close. So he'll just sit back and watch her.

She won't leave me alone tho, to the point its hard just cleaning her box or sweeping up in there because she won't stop trying to get me to pick her up and love on her.

She occasionally will be in there playing with a tinkle ball when she gets bored or digging on her scratcher box. She also goes between wanting to eat lots and not wanting to eat anything at all. For two days she only took small amounts of wet food out of only a cans worth and refused to eat the whole thing.

She hasn't vomited and I've seen no blood as I've heard can happen, but she does use the bathroom a lot.

Alright, I'll try to look into getting a cheap heating pad for her and a blanket to put over it~.

All that you just described and the shredding cardboard sounds normal :)

Okay good, I actually had to remove ALL the paper I had in there because she wouldn't stop tearing everything apart. She even got a bit more naughty, jumping up high just to purposefully push everything onto the floor. She wasn't doing that before.

Will a self-warming heating pad work? I heard they are easier to clean cause you can take out the thing inside and toss'em in the wash.

There you go! And although I know it is regrettable that you had this "oopsie" happen, I also know that you are in the latter stages of getting ALL of your cats de-sexed. This happens. There is nothing more determined than a cat who's mind is made up to mate! Hopefully, this will be a false alarm, though. Keep us posted, and if she is, indeed, pregnant, we'll get more information to you as things progress!

I will. Tho the only way to likely tell is something I can't afford so it will likely just play out till whenever shes supposed to deliver.

So I read over the stuff to ask people when interviewing them for kittens and wrote down everything to ask for screening. But still no clue what to ask for a price.

Early days for that, yet. If she is pregnant, it's only a by a bit, so she'll have to carry to term, and then you have 10-12 weeks before you find homes. As for how much to ask...depends on what you are able to do for the kittens. The price should include any worming, shots, neutering, etc, and TELL people what that price includes! That's important.

So the price should be whatever I had to pay for the kittens vet bills?

And add a bit for their care and feeding. That's expected. And have the vet bills, etc. available.

It is expected, at least by people who are honest and sincere. I remember a poster on Nextdoor who posted about her kittens and was asking what to set for the fee - a neighbor approached her in the midst of working out that detail and offered a rehoming fee, and said that the fee was to show good faith :)
