Jcatbird Jcatbird Grateful *PRAYERS* that you all are safe and that first responders responded quickly! That must have been very, very scary. We've had fire within visibility of our home and it is terrible, all the more so for me as a burn survivor. Last summer when I was told it hit 122F here, my friend's hedge burned to a crisp from the heat. It was completely brown on the front part and now it is almost completely green again. Your little tree should survive and thrive.
We had a small plane go down a block from here, in the residential area, a few years back. It knocked everything out for awhile. VERY scary. But NO casualties; the pilot walked away, and no damage to property except part of the yards of a couple of houses. The more electrical and aviation we have, the more possibilities for all kinds of problems exist. And now there are the drones, too. I don't like this! but all we can do is try to live with it.

@dustydiamond1 Thank you!! It was an “energizing” event! Lol Very glad it is over. Funny that the day before I had clears my drive of all the leaves and straw! That helped to keep the flames from crossing over to where the Armadillos live. Thank goodness.

rubysmama rubysmama That is not the kind of excitement we like around here. I must say, that I am very grateful for all the people who came to help. The night ended on a peaceful and positive note. :yess: The kitties are still blowing heat your way! They must be blowing hard because it’s getting cooler here!

W walli Yes. An evacuation plan is always important. I do have a practice of getting the cats into their crates and cages quickly, just in case. I have three exits available for them. More if you count windows. Since we have storms here a lot, I keep things near at hand in case we ever need them. This is one reason I encourage people to use a carrier or crate as a safe have for their cats. Instead of kitties hiding where we have to hunt them, if they get nervous for any reason, they go to their appointed carriers. That works for getting them to the vet too! I have key words I use to get the kitties to go into their cat room. Go now kitties! To them it means treats. Lol They are very good about going too. A good practice for anyone with any animals inside.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Thank you again for prayers. My main concern with things like that is keeping the kitties safe. I keep my van backed up to an exit at all times. Long time habit from previous evacuations.

My little tree should be okay. In fact, some plants need the burn off at times in order to thrive. I hated losing the back of wild red morning glories but they may come back even stronger. Hope so.
You had a plane crash there? Yow! Now that was scary! Amazing that the pilot walked away. It hadn’t even occurred to me that a drone might have caused this. Good possibility. There are a lot of them around here so it could have been that. The police did investigate but if it was a drone, I seriously doubt that anything remained of it. That might explain how the light of the voltage stayed so intense in one spot for so long. It could have been frying a drone. Whatever the cause, all new parts now so hopefully all will be better than before.

You never know. Drones can be bought so cheaply and they're available everywhere. And you KNOW there are plenty of people that don't care about laws, safety, or anything else. They have caused catastrophes and I'm sure they will continue to do so. What a Pandora's box was opened when these were made available to the public! They scared the you-know-what out of me in their original uses, much like other things that are now available to the public and SHOULD NOT BE. Ah well. We can only try to survive and live the best way we know how!
Yeah, the plane crash made local news, of course. IDK what the FAA findings were. We are in the flight path of several airports here, so it's more a matter of "when" than "if" :disturbed::sigh:

That is so bad about the plane but certainly not as bad as it could have been.
Last year a man and his son showed up looking for a lost drone. They live well across fro me and my neighbor. They had lost the drone somewhere on my property or at the neighbors house. While we allowed them to search for it, they should not have been flying it over us to begin with and certainly not towards a very busy highway. They never did find it. I understand it was being used as a toy but to me that is something you should learn how to control before using it in busy places. We are also very near an airport. Aircraft can fly quite low so I can only imagine what would happen if a drone was in the wrong place. I believe the laws restrict flying them in some places. They can be very useful tools in the proper hands.

I checked the damage out front and found the county had returned to cut the brush from the highway. Yay! All the border to my land has been mowed now. All the morning glory on one side was burned away but on the other side the county left me one small patch of flowers! :) They should reseed and come back next year. I was very happy to see that since the butterflies love to feed there.

Mackie decided he wanted a second night to cuddle. Lol He is so funny! I wasn’t laying down yet but he wanted me to go to bed.

It started with washing on my arm. He was attending to a bruise. Awwww. Taking care of Mom.

Wonderful pix! Mackie really is handsome -- and those massive paws! I really do like a male cat with big paws ;)
That's good that the county took care of brush abatement. As for morning glories, they are notoriously hard to kill. I have them here, and I am always pulling them out because, as beautiful as they are, they are also parasitic and they will take over everything if they're not contained. If I had an area where they could grow by themselves, I'd do that. But this little yard is pretty full up.
Yes, they do restrict drones, but there are those that don't care. Two locations ago, we were right next to a wildlife refuge and public park. There was an area where people could go to fly their remote controlled aircraft. Those aren't generally a problem, because they fly lower and aren't invasive.

Elvis! :p Hello beautiful
Paws!

These morning glories are the wild form that has tiny red flowers. It’s not the wild potato or any of the most invasive types that have naturalized here. It needs very specific conditions to thrive so it tends to stay in one area. Thankfully. Lol The little flowers stay open longer during the day too. If I have morning glories, these are the ones I prefer.,There is a larger purple flowered form that will take over here. I remove a lot of that from the gardens since it will choke everything else out. Pretty flowers but they dominate the garden if they grow unchecked.

Since we didn’t get to Banjo and the Froggie last night, here are our smiles for tonight.

N NY cat man I managed to get on site but Banjo has to teach me the rest! Maybe she could come and teach Miss Eleanor. As everyone knows, I am tech challenged. I found the emojis but still learning how to insert them. Last night I had to figure out where the button is to insert media. Lol After a few failed attempts, I accidently hit the right button. :runaround::alright: We’ll get there by degrees.

The love story of the millenium! 🐸🐱💞 An inspiration to us all, every day!
Our morning glories are pink. They are very pretty, but they are invasive, so out they go. Would love to see a pic of your small red flowers if you get a chance sometime!

Well, maybe later.

I gotta say guys, posting on my phone has gotten much more difficult for me because of my vision and the small screen area available. After loading photos I have 1 and a half inch of viewing space for posting. Time for some Tylenol and a magnifying glass. Lol

Is that just since the site upgrade? I think things are still being tweaked, so hopefully things will improve. If not, maybe check out / post in the New look? thread.

Hopes, good vibes, prayers and good wishes that all those in the path of the wildfires in California are safe. :vibes::redheartpump:
Ditto. As well as those in the path of Typhoon Hagibis.

Those are beautiful little red flowers, Jcatbird Jcatbird ! So glad you have some that have not been burned.
Thank you for *Prayers* and good thoughts/wishes for those in disaster zones. The fire is to the west of us, not close, but horrible.
That is thoughtful of your dad to get you a charger for your phone! I have a fairly small screen, too, but I'm hanging onto this phone for the duration, as they are SO expensive and I do not like adding to the world's e-waste. This phone is great! and I do all my work and most of my socializing on this beautiful big gaming rig (desktop) anyway.

Wow! New site layout! Really pretty! This will take a bit of figuring out. Lol Banjo!!! Come help Mom!
Yeah...and there's a learning curve. I managed to delete ALL of my watched threads somehow. But I searched my own name, and found my posts! This was not an altogether bad thing. Now, instead of ELEVEN PAGES of watched threads, I only have three, and ALL active!

We need purraise back. I don't want to the same like options that facebook has.
While I don't want the SAME ones that Facebook has, I do like having a range of reactions. Sometimes I don't purraise because something was especially good, but because...other things. This lets me do that. But the choices could have been better.

Did you guys see all the new emojis? :bicolorcat: :hearthrob: 🐸
Not yet. I'm still getting there after the "deleted the watched threads" upheaval!

LOL, sometimes when I'm stressed, I do a paint by number app on my phone. I spotted this one late last night, and HAD to do it for Banjo!
