The key with boxes is that no one misses using them and always feels comfortable going there. Cleaning them 5 times a day? tarasgirl06 You can definitely come here to pan for gold. You must get them cleaned as soon as anyone goes there?!?! I get these after meals. That’s the most popular time to use them. Lol

Kodiak has not returned to the cabinet. She could have gotten out easily enough if she had just pushed her way out. The door moves easily. Funny how she opened it without a problem from the outside by pulling it but couldn’t or wouldn’t push harder. It’s not air tight or anything so she was okay. Just glad to have me open the door! Poor Kodiak. Hmmmm. Banjo was right there. I wonder if she was trying to help Kodiak get out or holding the door shut?

If anyone besides me could ever keep up with all the kitty names, it would be amazing! Lol It’s quite a crew!

Hopefully Kodiak will let eFURRYone else know that the cupboards are great for holding cat supplies but not so much, cats.

I read that cats "go" around 5 times per day. So I figured, yes, keeping the boxes clean is good for everyone. Since they really only use 4 of the 7, cleaning is quick and easy. They may have me well trained -- do you think?

I actually have 14 litterboxes. But I only use 2 at a time since litter is so expensive.

I just had to come back to share a smile I received in an email. The cat cafe here sent me an update. ( for those of you who don’t know, the cat cafe’ is a cat adoption cafe’. You can visit with kitties and have lovely treats while you play! If you fall in love with one of the kitties living there, you can adopt them! I adopted out some of my kitties through the cafe’ ) The cat cafe’ is now offering yoga lessons. You can lay on your yoga mat with twenty cats roaming around you! That should be hilarious! What a fun way to entertain the kitties there. I can just imagine what the kitties will be thinking! What is that human doing? Are they contorting like that for fun? Do they want to play? Hmmmm. While they are facing the floor, I’ll go pat their nose! Grab their hair! I like this human yoga stuff! I can do that too!
I think we need to show the humans a few positions!

The 2nd most popular time, at least for Ruby, is when I dump the litter out to clean her litter box. One time I had to put the litter back in a 2nd time, so she could use it again!

M maggiedemi The cat you asked about is Domino. She got adopted out very early in the process. She is sister to Shakespeare. Remember him? He was in the photo contest. They were part of the very first litter I brought in. I adored Domino! She and a kitten from the second litter had bonded and were adopted together. They are doing well in their adopted home.

Ally is very lovely, Jcatbird . Of course, ALL cats are gorgeous to me.
So glad that cat cafes are proliferating globally almost like, well, CATS! and that their popularity is so great. I'd have a tough time going to one, though, because I'd want to bring them all home!

After all the time catching up on emails, texts and various other things yesterday, BJ decided it was time for me to devote some snuggles to him. It’s still amazing to me that he has been in for such a, relatively, short time.

Tarifa thanks you. She spent quite a bit of laptop time today, and then went in and got on her bed, where I sought her out. She, Elvis, Suha and I spent a little time playing da Bird today. It's getting hot, so everyone's flaking.

Yes! I plan to take pictures. My friend told me about it and when I saw it's the weekend before my birthday ... Well, there was no choice but to go! We're doing the kitty yoga and the cat café, bur there will also be speakers and celebrity cats. I'm excited!

I’m starting to hear from cat friends who are in the projected path of Barry. May they and all their loved ones be safe from damage or harm. Many have already had losses this year due to storms and flooding. Shelters are being set up for ferals in these areas. May the kitties find safety there. Thank you to all the humans who are spending their time providing for these kitties!
For those of you who don’t know, a Tropical storm that may become a hurricane has formed on the southern coast of Louisiana and Mississippi. It could turn east or west and will be traveling to inland states. I don’t know yet if the storm will hit hard here but heavy rain is very likely in areas already saturated. Power losses are also predicted. Wishing safety for all.

Someone has requested ideas for feral shelters during this storm. Please take precautions now if you are anywhere along the possible path. High places for feral cats to find shelter is something that needs to be done now. Tarps to shield from rain and wind must be fastened very securely from all sides. Setting up tarps in pup tent fashion with a second tarp to act as a wind shield works quite well. Shelters in garages, under car ports or against a building wall will be more protected. High places for cats to escape water are life saving. I used concrete block floors under shelters. I also tied ladders to trees and posts. I left access to outbuildings propped open securely for entrance or escape. I put tarps over heavy patio furniture that was arranged in levels and wired/ tied the tarps to the ground. Tarps must be angled to allow rain to run off. I used my cyclone fence as a way to drape tarps and secure them too.
Anyone with experience in this, please post your ideas!
