Poop!

Betty just had a little spit up. A regurgitation. It looked almost exactly the same as it did on the plate. Just a few inches displaced. 🤦‍♂️
She probably just ate a little too much or a little too fast.

Anyway, bubble butt can stand to skip a meal 🐷 as long as she doesn't make a pattern of this.
Hey, everyone gets "the urge to regurge" sometimes!

I don’t want to outright call her fat. Her ‘roids and her junky Rx diet is not her fault. But she’s becoming more bean bag than bowling pin.
:redtabby: :whiskers:

Then again. So am I. She’s up about 13% since I adopted her. I’m up about 18% from my Covid low last summer. But we’re both outpacing my food inflation. I just did a year over year March to March comparison and my food bill went up 22%. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Betty and I are outpacing inflation. But not by much. 😔

Is that more than we wanted to know? :insertevillaugh:
Well, neither Betty nor you qualify for a Lizzo Lookalike award. As for the $$, I think we're all in that club. "Paying more, and enjoying it less!"😑

Gah! We’re just bouncing around 11 lbs plus or minus a 💩

I’ll be keeping the cake frosting for her med meals. But I think I’m going to phase out the starter strips on her tweener meals. She’s not leaving remainders since we’ve been getting more shine than rain lately.

Other than our struggles with her weight, not much else to report. I kind of want to wait until we’re past the Spring shed before I discuss altering her pred with the specialist.

Is Betty shedding a lot this spring? Elvis is leaving furzles everywhere, no matter how much I brush him! It's like dust bunnies, only these are fur catties
Oh, yes! Appetites everywhere seem to be increasing...Elvis isn't leaving much in the way of remainders, either!
Are you still doing your weekend taproom ritual?
How is your car these days?

Surprisingly, she is not shedding much at all. Maybe the omega oils in her Cosequin treats are making sure she only sheds as much as she can ingest and pass. And no, I haven't checked the litterbox for shed fur either.

Taproom ritual still going strong. Car is doing well. Though it's getting coated in pollen. 🤦‍♂️ I think in years prior to the pandemic, I probably would have driven it off. Now it has plenty of time to collect.

Bonus from work came, and I paid the credit cards, rent, and sent a couple big deposits to my investment accounts. Having taken care of all the responsible slices of that pie first, I'm waiting for it all to post so I can see what's left to spend on Betty (and maybe a little for me too.) I want to replace her poof which she has avoided ever since I washed it. I also want to replace the busted flower cart scratcher and the yacht, which is looking more shabby and getting less attention. For me, I want to replace my soundbar. I bought the wrong model years and years ago and I'm just now getting around to fixing that. Finally, I want to call the sitter and get the practice feeds started. Even though I don't have any travel plans, I'd like my sitter to be able to step in if needed. And the first step is making sure Betty will come out for her and take her meds. I expect it will take a few practice feeds before Betty will take medicine from the sitter.

Luckily, Elvis isn't eating his fur; he's just leaving little puffs of it on the carpet throughout the house. His coat is in good condition and he loves his brushings, so it's all good.
Yeah, we can't have a shabby yacht!:disappointed:
Sounds like you're getting all set for some good times. It's so satisfying to have the bills paid AND something extra, isn't it?!!

Will your cat sitter also house sit? Just curious. My quandary is I can’t go anywhere unless my cat sitter also house sits, which, thankfully, he loves to do. But, at his age, he might need someone soon to sit for him! Finding a good cat sitter is golden.

I’m on the fence about having the sitter stay over. It would certainly be easier for her given Betty’s twice a day med schedule. And assuming Betty warms up to the sitter (and I can’t imagine she wouldn’t—eventually), Betty would love the company. But I’m just so weird and private about having someone staying over without me. My baseball cards alone. 😬 I think I’m underinsured. But first things first. Let’s get them introduced and make certain Betty will show up for her. Because that’s job number one: someone to dip and drop her meds for her.

And on the other paw, I would love to be able to take Betty with me. She takes meds so easily that we might be able to figure out a gabapentin plus Cerenia combo that could keep her comfortable on the drives. And although she wouldn't care for the journey or the destination, she would love the company. And so would I. We could do mornings and nights together and she could sleep through the afternoons. Just like she does at home. First things first. We could try a practice staycation across town to see how she might like a hotel room.

Ohhh! Kitties don’t like the journey but are always curious about destinations (and hotels!). And though they don’t always admit it, they do like the companionship. Staycation! Yah! 👍 🐾

Once upon a time, we were unable to cure a cat of a skin condition. I was able to get him admitted to Best Friends in Kanab, UT, and so we drove with him one weekend. We bought a very large carrier, called a FURRARI :lol2: for his journey. It had plenty of room to stretch out and turn around, a small litterbox, and food and water dishes that clamped onto the door. He LOVED the trip! He didn't meow once, and enjoyed looking out the window at the ever-changing scenery. No pills/Rx/Feliway/anything! Just a very chill guy, loving his adventures. We stayed in a motel in St. George, UT and he was a perfect little gentleman. *A LOT more than I can say for the couple upstairs who kept us awake ALL NIGHT with their, uh, antics*:sigh:

Would you be willing to post a link to the carrier? I Googled it and all sorts of carriers popped up. (OK, now, back to BETTY! Sorry to hijack, just curious). Also, not many hills in the desert am imagining, but how did the water tray do on uphills and curves?

This was years ago, so the exact same carrier may not still be available, Margot Lane Margot Lane . We weren't in the Mojave then, but in a community in east Los Angeles area. The food and water dishes had plastic surrounds that had clamps; they clipped on to the door of the carrier so they were immovable.
There may be something similar here:
The Furrari had separate dishes for food and water, but this is described as fitting "most" carriers. You could always use the round stainless steel bowls and make a clamp for them yourself, using wire.

Krista would have been fine with driving to and from the folks. I didn’t realize this until her last year. But those road trips we made for her dentist, she did great. She protested a little when we first got on the road. But then she was quiet as a mouse until she needed a break. When she started speaking up, I knew to pull over. Take the litterbox from the trunk and put that at her feet in the shotgun seat. About half the time, that’s what she wanted. And the other half of the time, she just wanted to stretch her legs for awhile. We hit traffic on our last leg of our last trip and she kept asking for breaks. She lost her patience with that drive. And so did I. I gave her a couple of breaks. And when neither were about the litterbox, we simply argued for the last half hour that any more breaks and we would never get home.

Betty, on the other paw, I believe she may get motion sickness. She’s never thrown up in the car. But when we get on the freeway, she starts crying. If I take surface streets, she’s quiet (mostly.) And the few times I’ve taken her home after they’ve given her a Cerenia shot, she’s also quiet. We will try a staycation across town this month or next to see how she likes hotels.

We will also call up the sitter to get started on that path.

Sounds like good strategy and plans.
I remember fondly what a good traveller Krista was! and I used to love your posts from those times.

Ooof!

Betty loves when we switchover to a new case. There must be just enough batch variations that it lights up the "new food" center in her brain. When we open a new case, I can expect at least the first few cans (or Betty's share of those cans anyway) to be Hoovered up swiftly with no chance of remainders.

And perhaps sometimes a little too quickly.

I stepped out for a lunch time errand and when I came back, most of her plate was finished. At 1 pm. That's supposed to hold her until 4:30ish. Before I start on my lunch, I check inside her litterbox which is inside an enclosure. I shine the light in,

"Two footsteps, and that's it? Need a little extra cake frosting to grease the chute? Oh!"

She had a regurge puddle in front of the box.

Thankfully, I have the Poopcam recording on motion, and uploading to the cloud 24/7, specifically to help me answer the "how did this happen?" questions.

She took two steps in. She started to squat and maybe had a contraction or two before she realized she was pointing the wrong end down. Poor girl. Happens to the best of us. She backed out and regurgitated in front of the box. I told her she could have barfed in the box, and I'd scoop that too. As it was, I had a pee pad underneath the box anyway. Clean up was a breeze. A soggy, squishy, chicken, rice, and veggie breeze. And into the sausage maker that barfwad went.

LitterGenie: The World's Grossest Sausage Maker.

I don't know why they don't want to use that as their motto.🤷‍♂️

ALL, literally ALL, of my life has been spent with cats, and I don't recall any of them EVER puking in the litterbox. Of course it would be so convenient, wouldn't it? But NO! Most prefer the carpet. Many have loved puking on my one "good" rug. Every place is fair game, of course.
Except for the litterbox.

Edited for clarity.

She backed out and regurgitated in front of the box. Yes, it would have been convenient if she had just used the box. Or maybe not. I'm not sure how much litter I have left. And I also don't want to risk her tracking barf litter out of the box. On the pee pad is good enough for me. That'll do, Donkey!
