I think they get cranky, in part because they just get cranky about it all, but also because there's an instinctual thing going on that they feel the need to be territorial about the food source in bad weather.
Because of foot shortage in the cold weather. Dropping down to 18 degrees with wind chill in single digits. Sure hope Cooper lets Shadow and Shaman huddle with him or hope he's smart enough to go somewhere warm. He's sitting out there all alone right now. I told him I better not find a frozen cat in the morning and he just gave me the look.

I had no idea that moles were out in this cold weather but Shadow got rid of another one last night and ate it. The moles have really been a nuisance this year and it's hard to walk on some parts of the yard. I just hope I don't have a gift of left over mole by my door.

Anyway today's temps as of 5:20 am. Yes I'm up at that time. Hopefully it will be warm again this afternoon so lunch is fight free but not holding my breath.

This was meant for Cooper so he could attack that instead of Shaman. However he's scared of it. Shadow isn't though and she claimed this as a snuggle buddy right away.

Today's temperature. I hope 40 feels like 40 though because these cats are demanding I stay out there with them when they eat. Oh well maybe the cold air will work the same as the ice pack on the injury. Maybe instead of knitting them a Christmas Tree I should knit myself another blanket to wear outside. Shaman is crouched next door at my neighbors. My neighbor would help in feeding her but she has a challenged sister that could hurt her (not meaning to of course) so it's best not. Shaman likes staying there because she can watch for when I open the door. I sometimes feel like taking a bucket of food and hanging in the tree for Shaman but then the other cats and of course the birds and raccons would find. A shame my Mom has to be such a snot about this

Normally those work for me but ever since I fractured my humerus in July 2018 I have bee freezing in even 85 degree weather. I'm sitting here with 3 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of pants, leggings, 2 tops and a sweater, a puffer coat and 4 blankets and still freezing and I'm inside with thermostat at 78 because much more bothers my Mom. I really don't know what happened to me when I fell. It was just a fracture. My specialist cares for the St. Louis Blues for 45 years so he knows what he's doing. Before I'd get heat strokes at 40 degree weather.

Breakfast went smooth. But then Shadow was not here. I guess maybe she was off searching more moles. It seems when there are 3 here is when the problems start. So not only the bad weather and all but if another cat is here with Cooper, Shaman runs scared. So hard to figure out what is going on.

I found a place near me that will vaccinate against rabies (in my area they have to have yearly rabies vaccines) as well as get micro chipped for $30 per cat. For just microchip it's $20 per cat but vets here will not microchip unless the cat has been vaccinated yearly for rabies. Now to sneak each cat to the vet and back without Mom seeing. Ugh always that.

I'm in tears. Every day something happens because of Mom. Cats are delayed by an hour for lunch and crying because Mom is down here and I can't even sneak out to the car to get the food. I wouldn't have half these tragedies if it wasn't for her. :(

Every feeding is almost a plop food in the bowls and water in the bowls, pet each one and hurry inside before Mom know's what I'm doing. :(

Cooper got hit by a car. He's got severe injuries. Not sure of survival chances. Oh please no. Not a 3rd one :(

I'm crying over this tragedy. :(

The vet said first Cooper is 1 1/2 years old but seems he sustained an injury when young, possibly abuse or untreated injury when he was first dumped? that now leaves him walking with a limp at times, much like we do in weather change and bad knee, foot or leg. . The car barely touched Cooper from the examination but he's staying at the vet over the weekend for observation.
