The stitch was corrected, so he may not have trouble with constipation again. Many cats don't like pumpkin, so don't worry about that and just feed him wet food that he will eat and see if he continues to be okay. Will the vet give you more lactulose if you feel that you need it?

He has a post op check on the 4th Jan. They may take out the stitch. I can. See it this time

The lactoluse I doubt will last that long

If the stitch were the problem, lactulose might still be effective. Laxatone is a very popular hairball paste which is available in the US; I don't know about the UK. It does contain petroleum jelly which some people do not want to use, but normally a very small amount is given.

He's just had a huge poop. Solid not loose
Them dribbled on the window sill

I just noticed a strange black mark on. His lip. New. I took a pic.. What do you think it is? Old age spots or pigmentation

So Toby has had two poops in 48 hours which is not bad at all. One of my cats who has battled constipation goes on the same schedule but has remained comfortable and healthy so far. If he keeps up some kind of schedule, I would not be too worried even if it is not 24 hours on the spot.

The spot could be pigmentation, but it is hard to tell. While it is not an emergency, show it to the vet when you go in January. It does not look like chin acne to me. If it were to need to be removed, they can deal with it when it is small.

He's eating well
I just don't want him to get constipated again. Never ever was until the stitch got too tight too poop
Is that vet liable
I'd have a, hard job proving it

I hope that spot is nothing to worry about

If the stitch is now done correctly, this may be over...hopefully. Liability is hard to prove, especially since it was corrected. In the US, there is a way to report to the licensing boards for vets or doctors or other professionals, but I don't know about the UK. You also have to consider if it would affect how you and Toby were treated if you have to use the same vet again.

I understand what your saying
Yes the stitch was corrected and looks much better
It's just all this stress on the cat and more surgery and costs, could it have been avoided if the stitch was done properly on the first place

Now he's at risk of further mega colon s

I absolutely understand your frustration and you are completely correct. It was incredible stress, and financial strain.

You could try to investigate reporting a vet or you might consider asking outright for a partial refund or credit since the stitch seemed to have caused the problem.

No sounds of straining, I know I can't watch him 24 7, but he rarely leaves my bedroom, he had a toilet, I know other cats use it, b

ut when he goes poo he covers it up like a mountain in one corner, not seen any like that

I worry so much. I've no money left
His check up is not til the 4th

:hyper::cheerleader::clap2: Great news! I know that this has all been extremely hard on both of you, but if Toby maintains regular, decent sized poops every couple of days he will be fine. I have one cat who only goes on a 48 hour basis, sometimes even a little longer, but it is always normal.
