I am glad to hear that you got some response, even if it is not overwhelming. Forget the breed remark and don't let it get to you. You have a very sick cat, breed aside. He still needs medical treatment. The point about him being alone all night in a clinic is not unfounded. It means that nothing will be done and he will not be monitored, so he is better off with you although it does mean that they delayed treatment.
His sutures are clearly too tight. Just because the vet can put a finger through them doesn’t mean the sutures aren’t the problem. He likely has a larger piece of poop that is unable to get past them, while the feces that’s able to exit is the soft stuff that can ooze around it.
I have never had a cat with rectal prolapse, but it is exactly what I picture happening. If they want to do an enema after the xrays, as opposed to redoing the stitch, ask very specifically why that will be the remedy because an enema may work, but back to what J Jabzilla said, it doesn't go beyond the problem with the suture. So will this be a repetitive occurrence?

Another strange thing the vet said was he will have scar tissue, thst could be why he can't poop properly, and his bum is abnormal and will never be thd sand again, and if he was human, he d have a stoma bag

This is certainly all plausible. However, just in case the vet is leading up to “ there isn’t that much we can do” stand your ground and ask what the plan is going forward because he can’t live this way.

The vet has just rang. He's in theatre now
It's bad
He has a super mega colon stretching right up to his diaphragm, he's very constipated!

I. Was told by the other vet he wasn't constipated and wasn't an emergency. They kept putting me off when. I. Tried to explain

His bowel is very stretched and has a sore tummy

He has to stay in overnight on a drip
They said someone is on. Night shift and will watch him

He's having an enema now and may need another one in the morning as there's so much poop

I'm. Very distressed. I kept on phoning to get him in sooner

It was caused by the stitch she couldn't get her finger in
The most senior vet rang me to apologise
They want to see him poop on. His own before putting in another stitch, which will be looser

He's not ate or drank so how can he poop?

He s extremely dehydrated too

My poor boy

She said as a, gesture of good will, they won't charge me for his overnight stay

I. Should think not!

, another thing She said was, my felix a 13 years old ragdoll, they gave me the wrong medication!! Omg
He has bad arthritis and been our recent on rhemicon, she said has he had it, u said yes almost all. Gone as I. Need some more
She said I'm. Ever so sorry you were given a dogs medication by mistake, the pharmacy did it and will be a full investigation. Omg
Asked me if he's OK any side affects, fortunately he's OK thank. God!!
She asked me to bring the bottle in tomorrow when I collect Toby

Toby will be in all. Day tomorrow

I'm. Very upset

Omg, I'm so sorry that Toby is in such a horrible state! I am also filled with rage at the vets who INSISTED he was fine despite him very clearly being not okay. In no world is going WEEKS without pooping acceptable or fine. I hate so much that this has happened. I really hope Toby pulls through and hope that you'll be able to find a different clinic to go to in the future, as this is completely unacceptable.

I am so sorry that you and Toby are in this predicament. It should never have happened as I don't believe that investigating the stitch or megacolon is all that difficult a decision to reach on the part of the vets. If there is anything good in all of this, which it is hard to imagine, it is that Toby's case has been blown open and there are some answers and a treatment plan in place. Since the senior vet called, it probably indicates that they are now carefully monitoring Toby and might watch more carefully with others as well, including the pharmacy who managed to give you a dog medication.

I can't afford anywhere ejse.
This is not the point. Anyone receiving any medical care has a right to expect that things will be done correctly. Even if this were 100% free, it would not mean that anyone should expect bad care.

Not heard anything yet. I was reading up on Megacolon. Sounds nasty
He only got this due to a tight stitch now he had stretched bowel
What's the chances of this reoccurring

Is there any preventative measures he can have to stop constipation
He never had constipation before

He had soft sometimes loose stools. That's what caused the prolaspes in the first place

I heard pumpkin is good, I'm in the UK and I can't find it anywhere
Amazon has tins but it says pie on the label, can't give him anything thsts got spices in
Are there any pastes food or meds that can prevent it reoccurring
Thank you

The receptionist just rang me from the vets
He's doing OK, ate a small amount
Still kn a drip. On painkillers

He's having a second enema this morning and another loose fitting stitch

I'm. Too collect him at 4

That's all I know

I'd have preferred to speak to a vet
I. Want to talk about preventative measures

Guess Il find out at 4

Glad to hear that you are receiving some good news about Toby‘s recuperation. If no vet is able to talk to you when you pick him up, make it clear that you need some kind of a consultation about the mega colon and preventive measures. There are ways to manage it, but try to find out from your vet first what they are recommending. As for the pumpkin, it does have to be just plain pumpkin with no additives and not pumpkin pie mix.

I've got Toby and I'm on the bus home
He seems lively, purring, wants to get out of the carrier
Saw a, nurse no vet
She knew nothing of Toby as wasn't in theatre
All She gave me was lactoluse! If diahrhea stop
2 syringes of beanomorphine

Says post op check in 2 weeks where they l take stitch out. It's, loose
I said if stitch removed he may prolapse again, she said if he does they'll do a coloxpy
Hmm

Toby will need some time to settle in and since he was given an enema this morning he may not poop again for a while. Does he seem more comfortable?

Tanya's Comprehensive Guide to Feline Chronic Kidney Disease - Constipation
This article describes most of the treatments for constipation available for vets or pet owners. Start reading a little before the middle where it begins "Treatments for Chronic Constipation." It does address where you might find canned plain pumpkin in the UK if that information is still correct.

Is there any chance the vet will talk to you over the phone briefly before two weeks are up?
