I’m in the uk and it’s gone midnight now. Should I stay up to make sure the kittens are feeding well? I’ve just come to check them and they were lay under mums tail. They are now feeding again on her. I’m just worried they won’t feed else

Kittens can be spayed when they are two months, or two pounds, also.

So I weighed the kittens this morning, 13 hours after last weigh in.

Larger kitty weighed 83.8 grams. She is now 92.3

Little one was 77.3 grams and is now still only 77.5.
I’ve taken him away from mum and have managed to get 2.5 mil down him. He now seems very settled wrapped in a blanket on a small box.
I was thinking of putting him back until i feed him next time but I don’t want to to upset mum and have her keep taking him from me.
Have I done the right thing? How often do I need to feed him?

You feed him at least every two hours, but I would really recommend down to every hour. As he seems weak and dont manage much in one sitting he shall have 20 ml in total - more if he wants. So you can count yourself how often, depending on what is practical.

He is in a blanket? Good, but observe, he himself dont produce own heat enough much, is unless its warm in your place, he needs also an active heat source.

All in all, he is Red Alert sooner than Yellow Alert.

The bigger one is barely Yellow alert, the weigh increase is fully satisfactory, this kitten doesnt need no supplementing at the moment. But continue to keep watch.

Thankyou. I’ve been trying to stimulate him to get him to pee and pop but he isn’t doing anything. Could this be just down to him not having had much. I’ve managed to get about 10ml down him so far

As he hasnt got much, just 10 ml, he hasnt much to give away either...

I got in my mind a russian joking song from the time of the second war, it goes roughly:
The medical recommendation is to poo 1 kilo every day. But they give us only 400 gram bread every day. How shall we poo out a whole kilogram!??

That’s funny and very true! I’ll update later when I weigh them.

They are so sweet looking - do they look just like mum? The photos seem to suggest they do. Do you know if the father is a tuxedo as well?

Larger kitty was 92.3g this morning she is now 93.5 but was 83grams this time last night. So is that an ok gain on 24 hours? Will weigh the smaller one next.

Fantastic! And more good news is mum and the little ones are booked in for a check in 4 weeks and then for spay for mum at 8 weeks.

Yes they both look like mum! I’m guessing the dad is a tux too, as we have seen a stray recently (guessing he’s a stray) as we live very rural and there are no other houses within a 9 mile radius, so we guess that’s who got her pregnan when she went out.

He’s 83.3, is that ok? He’s now actually crying for a feed where as earlier today I was having to ‘force feed’ with the syringe. He still isn’t suckling all that great but seems to be filling out a bit more after his feed, and he’s finally done a wee! So I’m assuming that part is good? He’s just had a feed of goats milk, is that ok? I read on here on another thread it was good as an emergency kmr. Even though we have kmr for him I thought I’d give it a go. He seemed to take that much better

Now that was a relief! Nothing grand but a good step forward.

Mostly important the bad tendency is broken, you had found the right routine and right tempo. :)

The little one is the one in the purple blanket, he’s currently fast asleep snuggled up to a small teddy and hot water bottle.
He looks so very content now.
