I currently have two 10 month old kittens who are indoor cats but I do like to take them outside around our property on leashes. We have over 20 acres and live in rural New England so there is lots of natural settings to explore with them. They love going outside although they have only gone out...
I started using grass litter from Frisco (chewy brand) and loved it because it had absolutely no dust but..one of my cats started to develop itchy scabs so I realized it had to be the litter since it started shortly after the switch. I went back to using corn (worlds best) and he’s much better...
Update: His scabs finally went away after switching his litter. It took about a month for them to completely heal and no signs of new scabs forming so it was definitely the grass litter.
I suspected my cat was allergic to grass litter. He developed scabs. I switched him back to corn litter and his scabs are finally healing. I did not suspect food allergies because he’s a kitten and my vet said kittens are too young to develop food allergies.
Personally I think she will have a much easier time adjusting to you not being home than adjusting to a totally new environment and being alone all the time.
I use Murphys oil soap. I vacuum everything first then mop. I also wash all linens and bedding they have been on. It’s a chore but my husband is allergic to the kitties so it’s a must every week. We can’t imagine not having them so it’s worth it. ❤️
Wow. That sounds tough for you and your kitty. It’s amazing that some cats are so sensitive to certain allergies. Luckily we have all hardwood floors which I mop every week so hopefully we will se improvement soon. He’s being a bit picky about the new litter even though I mixed it with the grass...
About 3 months ago I discovered grass litter (Frisco brand from Chewy) and absolutely loved it due to the no dust and great clumping. My two kittens ( 7 months old) took to it immediately too. I’ve noticed that one of my kittens started to develop itchy scabs. It never got too bad so I just...
I just discovered grass litter because I could not stand the dust from all the other brands (especially Worlds Best). It’s been so much better and much less dust. I clean the box multiple times a day so the odor is never an issue for us. I use the Chewy brand from Frisco.
I’m sorry your going through this. I have also recently been dealing with a kitten with chronic diarrhea and it’s been tough and I’ve tried multiple things too.
I was recommended by users here to try the probiotic S. Boulardi as it seems to have helped many kitties suffering from diarrhea. I...
Update: It’s been 8 days since Luna finished her 15 day course of Metro. I have been giving her a capsule of Nexabiotic daily (half in morning, half in evening) and her stools have been perfect! One other very important detail was I stopped feeding her the prescription diet my vet recommended...
My vet said this is perfectly normal (from some cats!) and that releasing the glands will not make a difference in fact she said she had a cat that did this too. She was the one that gave me the tip of keeping blankets or towels around to put on your lap for love sessions.
Are any of you lucky owners of cats that release that foul smelling liquid when loving them up? I had no idea this even happened until my newly adopted kitten started doing this. He does it almost every time I love him up. The smell is beyond gross and embarrassing especially when we have...
I’ll keep this in mind
I will keep this in mind. I don’t want to make any changes to her diet just yet. She’s had a few days of good poop and I’m hoping it stays this way or gets better.
I did consider allergies to chicken but my vet doesn’t think that’s the case because she’s still a kitten...
Just adding an update. Vet looked him over and doesn’t see anything that looks concerning. He also hasn’t had any leakage since last week so we will continue to monitor and if he has more leaks while sleeping my vet says we can do an ultrasound.
